April's POV

I hacked into Alex's Internet and I continued to do my report. Time passed with me lost in writing the report. My stomach roaring made me realise I was very hungry. I stood and walked to the kitchen hoping to find something to eat, anything. It was at night already and I had completely forgotten about dinner but it was normal for me to forget to eat. I did not think Alex would be okay with me getting in his kitchen to eat something because apparently he did not like 'sharing' but I was hungry. He was so ridiculous.

Opening his fridge, I sighed. It had nothing interesting to eat. His kitchen cabinets had cereal only and it sucked. What did he usually eat? Just cereals? I walked out of the kitchen angrily and went to the bedroom and picked a coat ready to go look for food or just snacks. I was very hungry I did not think I could sleep or concentrate on anything.

I found myself walking aimlessly looking for a convenience store or just a diner. It was ten o'clock, most diners had to have been open or about to close. The roads and streets were full of people. It had to be because it was Friday. There was a thing that no one spent Friday nights in. Everyone was at some party drinking themselves to stupid. College parties were like life or death for most College students. They were a must to attend.

"April?"I heard my name being called out from a distance and I frowned. I stopped walking and turned to see who was calling me. I saw Marcus's Audi driving slowly towards me. It stopped next to where I stood. It was Marcus. What was he doing in the streets? Wasn't he supposed to be at his party? "Why are you walking alone?"he asked me leaning his arm on the car door. He rested his chin on his arm then he stared at me with a smug expression on his face.

Seeing him made me angry. I had a few reasons why I was angry at him. I wrapped my arms around my chest and leaned my standing position in my right leg. "I don't know Marcus. Maybe because I have not yet found a place to sleep because I decided to trust your ass."I angrily told him.

Marcus chuckled and I scoffed at him unbelievably. He thought what I said was funny? " I know you are not sleeping outside. There is no way Alex would let you sleep outside. He can be mean but deep down his dark heart, he has some compassion."Marcus stated.

I rolled my eyes at the ridiculous claim. "Some compassion? I doubt that. Your friend is a sociopath."I paused to think. "Actually he is a psychopath and there is no way sociopaths have compassion. He is so annoying and if I had a choice I would not have to spend my night there. He is the worst human being to exist. I cannot wait for this night to end and never see his rude ass ever again."I complained about my anger fuelling when I recalled how annoying Alex was.

Marcus burst out laughing and he was annoying me too. What did he find funny? He shook his head as his laughter died down then he turned his head to his side. I looked at him suspiciously. I felt it in my stomach that there was another presence in the car with him. Marcus leaned back in his driver's seat and there he was. Alex Gray sat in the passenger seat seeming unbothered. Marcus's earlier position was blocking my view of him.

I glared at Marcus. Why did he let me badmouth Alex when he was aware that he was listening? I felt so stupid and played. Marcus kept playing with me and it was absurd how I always ended up not knowing anything about him playing with me. "I hate you Marcus." I mouthed and Marcus just shrugged.

I waited for Alex to say something but he did not say anything. I creased my eyebrows wondering why he was not saying anything but I was happy at his silence at the same time.

Marcus rolled his eyes after he looked between me and Alex. Then he sighed resting his gaze on me. "What are you doing outside? You are not the type to be out on a Friday night."he asked me.

I sassily smirked. " Oh yeah? You think you know so much about me?"I asked him.

"I mean, aren't you nerds always the same and predictable?"Marcus asked.

I snorted dramatically. " Sorry to burst your bubble but you know nothing about me. I could be going to see my sugar daddy."I shrugged feigning ignorance.

I heard a snicker and not from Marcus but from Alex. I looked at him curiously. " You disagree stingy guy?"I asked him.

He looked at me with his unreadable expression. "I just don't see it. Girls like you who study on Friday nights can never have the guts to do something like that."He mocked me. He was using my actions of studying against me right now?

"You would be surprised how much guts......"

"Can we go?" Alex interrupted me. "This is lame. She is lame and not worth our time."he told Marcus.

Marcus shook his head. "I owe her man. Let us give her a ride to where she is going."Marcus told Alex back then he looked at me. " Get in April. I will drive you to where you are going."he said pointing at the back seat with his chin.

"I am not going anywhere far. I am just looking for a place where I can go eat or buy some snacks."I said and I saw Marcus smile.

"Even better. Get in."he insisted but I got hesitant. "We are going to the store too coincidentally."he explained upon seeing my hesitation.

"Aren't you going to the party?"I was confused.

Marcus waved me off. " It was rescheduled to tomorrow. Something came up."he told me and I glared at him with a newfound anger. He made me give up on my search for a new roommate because of the party that was going to be rescheduled?

"You are paying for my snacks if I accompany you. You at least owe me that."I sternly informed Marcus.

"Whatever you want April. I owe you more than just snacks."

I glared at him before I opened the door and got in his car.

  • The Innocence Is Gone    I am famous

April's POV I stayed in my room till evening. I finished the project and watched some depressing videos. I came out because I felt hungry. I went straight to the kitchen. I looked around for Alex but he was not around. He had to be in his room. I looked at the kitchen and I sighed. I did not feel like cooking to be honest but I was starving."Oh damn. My mom would kill me if she found out I am ordering food when I can just cook."I said to myself taking my phone out to order. But just when I was about to order, a call appeared on my screen. It was my brother. What did he want now? I groaned bored."What?"I aggressively spoke."Calm down little sister. Go to your apartment's basement."Landon told me.I frowned. "Why?""Can you just go without asking questions?"I rolled my eyes before I decided to go to the basement. What did my brother want me to see? Was he in the basement? Wasn't he supposed to have left for Singapore for business? I stepped out of the elevator and I looked around m

  • The Innocence Is Gone    selfish

April's POV I opened my eyes feeling more tired than I had been when I was lying down yesterday night. I was supposed to be relaxed but I was so fatigued I just wanted to keep lying down. But then I was not that sleepy. I sighed and I came to a decision to just get out of bed. I climbed down from the bed and run the back of my hand on my face before I bent to make the bed. At least I knew such basics. I was a very hygienic person so there were things that were automatic for me. I was a tidy and neat person in nature.Just when I tied my hair in a messy bun, I heard some commotions in the kitchen. I frowned. I did not hear Alex come home last night. But then I was a heavy sleeper. I got out of my room. I needed to freshen up but I wanted to see what was going on.I stopped at the kitchen island to look in the kitchen but I ended up freezing in my position involuntarily. I was staring at a half naked girl who was cooking breakfast using my groceries. What was going on? It took me a min

  • The Innocence Is Gone    getting along

April's POV The bell rung as I tried to clean up my mess. I knew Alex called someone to come and clean but I still wanted to try. I could not believe that I could not actually do it. I felt useless. It was just cleaning up the scattered food on the kitchen floors and walls. I just made more mess than I intended. I cleaned my hands and went to open the door. It had to be the persom Alex called. I opened the door. My mouth opened wide when I saw who it was. More than who they were. Marcus and his group of friends stood at the door and except for Marcus, everyone else was surprised to see me too. Why were they here? Didn't they have a party to attened to?"April? What are you doing here?" Olivia asked me surprised."I live here apparently."I replied and everyone frowned looking at each other. Of course they were surprised. How predictable was Alex to make people this confused when he did something out of his norm."No way." Maddy spoke breaking the silence. I was sure her statement was

  • The Innocence Is Gone    Handle my mess

Alex's POV I could not believe Landon just threatened me into accommodating his little sister. He actually threatened me. I did not know how to feel about April staying with me. She was annoying and I just did not like sharing things with anyone especially my apartment. To say I was not surprised that Landon suggested that his little sister stay with was an understatement. Everyone who knew me and Landon knew me all too well, knew that I was bad news. Landon was protective of his sister so why would he leave her with me? Unless there was a hidden agenda.Landon and I went way back. School wise and business wise. Me being from the Gray family and him coming from Hill family, we had met quite often mostly because his family and my family were business competitors. I hated the guy to the guts and I knew he would say the same about me. So despite all that he left his sister under the same roof as me? What game was he playing? He was not my friend to ask favours from me. We were business

  • The Innocence Is Gone    Naive

April's POV "What do you need little sister before I go?"Landon asked after he had taken my suitcases back to the room. It was a nice room I had to admit. So Alex like but a comfortable bed to sleep on.I was sulking at the moment so I did not reply to him. Alex was sitted in the sitting room watching some motorcycle races on his big tv. I was sitted on the dinning table somewhere far away from him."Damnit P, talk."Landon raised his voice at me.I glared at him. "Don't you raise your voice at me."I warned him.He sighed running his hands on his hair. "I'm sorry. You are just frustrating me at this point when you don't answer my questions."he chnaged his tone to a softer one."I don't want anything.""How is that possible? You are living on your own now. You need things like I don't know, a car."Landon suggested.I took in a deep breath. I needed to loosen up and stop sulking like an immature kid. I was mad but I had to think about what I want critically. My brother was right. Despit

  • The Innocence Is Gone    change of plans

APRIL'S POV I looked at Alex waiting for an explanation. What did he mean by what he said? "How do you know my family?"I asked when I got tired of waiting for Alex to take the hint and explain on his own accord.Alex stared at me. "Get your stuff June and leave. I don't even know why I am speaking to you in the first place."He told me coldly then the next moment he stood up straight and walked away. I jumped at the sound of the door banging. He went to his room.I sighed and I bent down near my suitcases. A few minutes later I was done packing and I was pushing my suitcases down the hall to the sitting room where I assumed Landon was. He was looking, no...surveying around the sitting room like a person who was hoping to find something he lost."What are you doing?"I cleared my throat before asking to gain his attention. He turned to look at me acting like he was not snooping a second ago."Are you done?" He asked looking at my suitcases."Do you know snooping is considered creepy?"I
