Silas POV
“Silas, you need to listen to me,” Dr. Stephen said slowly, looking into my eyes like he was hoping I'd listen to everything that was about to come out of his mouth. I already knew where this was going. “Your system is under incredible strain. These suppressants….they aren't meant for long-term use at this dosage. Especially for an unmated omega, they’re lethal.” I immediately looked away, refusing to meet his eyes. I clenched my hands tightly to hold myself together. “I need them, Doctor. You know I don't have a choice.” I said weakly. “I know.” he sighed, leaning back. “But the medication is starting to get less effective because your body is fighting it. If you don't pause the dosage, your heart might just stop. You’re a male Omega who can conceive, Silas. It won't just disappear because you swallow a pill.” He paused, probably hoping that I would cave in. “If you don't pause the cycle soon, the internal damage might become irreversible. You’re playing a dangerous game with your own life.” I sighed in frustration, and I could already tell with the look in his eyes, that he knew I was done with the conversation. “Just give me the refill.” I whispered with a trembling voice. “Please.” He hesitated, then reluctantly slid the prescription across the desk. ‘This is the last time. Your body needs a break, or you won't survive the year.” I thanked him and stepped out of the clinic, ignoring his words. I knew Dr Stephen saw a patient in danger, but I was just an omega trying to survive. If the pack discovered I was a male Omega capable of conceiving, my life wouldn't just be over, it would become a cage. And I would be nothing more than a vessel, a breeding tool for whoever was strong enough to claim me, and for whatever they could extract from my body. In the werewolfdom, male omegas were the most useless of all sub-genders. At least the female omegas could conceive, but my kind was literally just a filler, we're just…there. Weak, useless, no importance, and most especially, useless. Did I mention useless? By the time I stepped outside the building, the sky had already dulled, which meant rain would start falling anytime soon. Great, I don't even have an umbrella, and I can't wait aside for the rain to stop, I have to be at work by the next 30 minutes. So I began walking just as the rain started drizzling. I pulled my hood up, managing my way through the gradual raging storm. ‘How long can I keep this up?’ I sighed as I wondered, watching as my boots splasih through a puddle. I was living a lifetime of secrecy that felt like a life sentence. Simply to say……I was tired of the masks, I was tired of the fear. But there was nothing I could do. Nothing. I ran away from home at the age of thirteen, the day I found out I was a male omega. Every werewolf presents at the age of ten, but I was a late bloomer which only made everything worse for me. On top of that, living in a house full of people who hated you had to be the worst thing that could ever happen to a person. I didn't have parents, just these people who said they found me in the woods and took me in, they raised me in their own uncouth ways. I was blamed for things I didn't do, severely punished for the slightest mistakes, and the moment I found out I was a male Omega? I ran. I ran and never looked back. Suddenly, someone bumped into me, yelling 'watch where you're fucking going!’ before running forward. “Idiot.” I said and shook my head. I was so lost in the fantasy of my own misery that I didn't hear the screech of tires as a car pulled up beside me. I turned my head just in time to see a flash of blinding white light, I heard footsteps, and then, a sudden sickening hit against my head. The impact sent me spinning, and for a fleeting second, the cold rain felt like ice against my skin. Then, the world tilted, and everything went black. °°°°° I gasped awake as ice cold water shocked my skin. “Get up bitch.” A rough voice snapped at me and before I knew what was happening or where I was. I was being pulled roughly to my feet and dragged out of the dark room I was currently in. “Wait, what's going on?” I asked as I struggled to walk on my feet. These men, Alphas no doubt, dragged me along like a sack of potatoes. “Where are you taking me?” I croaked. They didn't answer, and while they dragged me, I tried to figure out where I was. This wasn't The Northern pack, we weren't privileged to this much luxury, which made me more afraid of the reason I could be here. The heavy thud of their boots echoed in the corridor until we reached a pair of massive, cloaked doors. They swung open with a groan and I was shoved forward, stumbling until my knees hit the marble floor with a thud. I let out a sharp whimper, curling into myself, but a hand fisted in my hair and yanked my head back. “Look at the King,” a guard hissed. My blurred vision slowly cleared and my eyes collided with a pair of dark, blue eyes across the room. He was seated on a throne that looked like it was meant for the devil. I looked at his face and chills shot down my spine when I finally recognized him. It was The Lycan King, Alpha Zenith. What could I have possibly done wrong to be thrown in front of the King, known for being incredibly cruel and ruthless? His lips curled in disgust as he looked at my form like I was nothing more than a dirt under his shoes. “What is that?” His calm, deep voice should have been assuring, but it wasn't. It didn't stop the trembling of my frail body, because I knew damn well it was calm before the storm. “The one you're looking for your Majesty, we trailed him to the Northern territories.” One of the Alpha guards said. What? “No…..” I gasped in fear, my voice trembling as I tried to stand up to defend myself. “You have the wrong person, I don't know anything about this. I was….. I was just walking home.” The Alpha guard didn't even hesitate. His fist collided with the side of my face, sending me crashing back down to the marble. Pain exploded through my body and stars filled my vision. “Silence, Omega.” the guard barked in his dominant voice and I began to shiver on the floor, panting, then a terrifying realization began to crawl up my spine. A tremor started in my fingertips and raced to my heart when I remembered I hadn't taken my suppressants. To put it simply, I was a naked wolf with no furs without my suppressants. That was how I was feeling right now. Then, it hit me. A scent so overwhelming, it was cedarwood, and the scent of ancient earth. Without the suppressants, I was exposed to the world and the world was exposed to me, my senses suddenly filtered open, and the King’s aura was the first thing I inhaled, it flooded the room, forcing my body into a state of primal submission. My inner Omega screamed, trying to fight against the chains of the medication, and I let out a broken whimper under the sheer pressure of his power. The room suddenly went silent, and I heard as the King stood up and slowly walked towards me, every step he took toward me felt like a year being reduced out of my lifespan. The moment felt like I was awaiting my death. He came to a halt in front of me and crouched down to my level on the floor. “Are you saying my men are liars?” He asked with a deep voice. “N-no sir b-but-” I tried to explain but I was cut off sharply. The King reached out suddenly and grasped my chin, tilting my head up to face him. "Can't you fucking speak?" He sneered in my face and that was when I felt it. The moment his skin touched mine, the world tilted. A violent jolt of electricity, hot, searing sparks, shot through my jaw and raced straight to my core. It was as if a golden cord just snapped into place between us. It was overwhelming. My inner Omega, that had been starved and poisoned for years, buckled under the sheer weight of his Alpha pheromones, it made me whimper in involuntary submission. Looking at the king's face, I saw the way his nose flared, the way his chest heaved as he took in a sharp, lung-filling breath of my unfolding scent. For a heartbeat, the disgust in his eyes vanished, replaced by a raw, agonizing shock. He released me so abruptly I nearly hit the floor again, springing backward as if the touch of my skin had burned his flesh. He looked at his hand, then back at me, his chest heaving as if he’d been run through with a sword. Then I watched in fear, as the shock on his face slowly turned to anger, the way his face contorted into a mask of cold fury. “Your Majesty?” One of the guards asked, confused by the sudden retreat. He didn't look at me again, instead, he turned his back, to everyone. “Get him out of my sight,” the King commanded. “Put him in the holding cells. I want no one near him, if anyone so much as speaks to him without my word, I'll have your heads.” “But Sire-” “Now!” He roared, and everyone sprung into action. The guards scrambled, grabbing me roughly and dragging me out of the throne room. I didn't have much strength in me to fight and just let them drag me away. As the heavy doors began to groan shut, I caught one last glimpse of the King. He was still standing there, now staring at the spot where he'd touched me, looking like a man who had just seen his own ghost.Zenith's PovI pushed the door to my room open with my shoulder and stepped inside, Silas secure in my arms. The moment the door shut behind us, the thick, sweetened scent of him filled the space completely. And unfortunately for me, it was impossible to ignore.I crossed the room quickly and laid him down on the large bed. The second his back touched the sheets, his hands shot out and gripped the front of my shirt tightly, fingers twisting into the fabric as if holding on to a lifeline. A soft, distressed sound left him.“Easy,” I muttered under my breath. Then I had to carefully pry his fingers loose one by one. It took more effort than it should have. When his hands finally released me, I straightened up.I noticed his skin was still burning. Even through the clothes, the heat radiating off him was unmistakable. The first thing I did was take off his shoes, pulling them off and throwing them aside. Then his jacket, I worked the buttons open and pulled him up a bit, sliding it from
Zenith's Pov Something was wrong. I could feel it. Ever since Zira had taken Silas onto the dance floor, a strange awareness had settled under my skin. From across the hall, through the mass of bodies and the thick cloud of expensive perfume and Alpha pheromones, I had somehow caught a faint trace of my mate’s scent. But there was something off about it. It was something subtle that made my wolf stir restlessly. At first, I told myself it was the alcohol, that Zira had probably given him something to drink. The thought alone burned deeply in my chest. Not only had my mate ignored every warning I had given him, but had gone against it. He looked far too comfortable in Zira’s arms, moving with an ease he had never shown with me. It was as if he had completely forgotten my presence, or worse, chosen to ignore it. My dark eyes remained locked on the two of them, watching every step, eyes trained on Zira’s hand at his waist. The longer I stared, the tighter the bond in my chest pul
Silas's PovI lowered the glass, still uncertain about what I had just consumed. “Silas.” Zira called again, when I didn't answer him. What was I even supposed to say?Zira stood there with two small plates in his hands, eyes fixated on the glass I was holding. He stopped in front of me, gaze moving from my face to the drink and back again.“Where did you get that?” he asked sharply. I blinked, a little taken aback by the sudden change in his tone. I gulped, finally finding my voice. “One of the servers offered it. He said it was part of the special set for the night.”Zira’s jaw tightened. He carefully set the plates down on a nearby high table, then reached out and took the glass from my hand without asking. He brought it close to his nose, sniffed once, and his expression darkened further.“You accepted a drink from a stranger, Silas.” he said lowly, in a way that screamed warning. I felt heat rise to my cheeks in slight embarrassment. The way he was speaking seemed as if he wa
Silas's Pov The King rose from his seat without a word, turned slightly toward me, and extended his hand. Without hesitation, I placed my gloved hand into his and took a deep breath, following as he guided me down the short steps from the elevated seats and onto the polished marble floor. The crowd parted smoothly, creating a wide, empty circle in the center of the hall. The soft golden light from the crystal chandeliers spilled over us, and the orchestra shifted into a slow, beautiful tune. It suddenly felt like the entire world had narrowed to just the two of us. We stopped in the exact center of the cleared space and the King turned to face me fully. Remembered every instruction from our practice, I created a small space in-between us and stepped forward, giving a precise, formal bow, then took one more step and waited, eyes locked on his. His blue eyes held mine without wavering. Then, slowly, he reached out his hand again, proposing the dance. I placed my hand in his a
Silas's PovThe early evening light filtered softly through the tall windows of my chambers as I stood in front of the full-length mirror. The servants had finished dressing me nearly an hour ago and left me alone with my thoughts. The formal attire was elegant, a deep navy blue with silver embroidery that caught the light whenever I moved. The high collar framed the mating mark on my neck, making it impossible to hide. I had an inkling that it was the two faced Alpha that got it for me. My hair had been neatly styled, and I almost looked… presentable. Like someone who belonged at the side of a King.Almost.My fingers brushed lightly over the mating mark as my thoughts drifted. Tonight would be the first time the public saw me as the Lycan King’s mate. There would be nobles, pack leaders, media… all of them watching, and judging. I would have to walk beside him, and dance with him under the eyes of a lot of people. And the near-kiss from the other day still lingered in my mind, m
Silas's Pov The moment the King walked out of the room, I released the deep breath I had been holding in and pressed a hand over my chest, trying to calm my racing heart. It was literally pounding so hard I could feel it against my palm. I hadn’t expected him to appear like that, so suddenly. One moment I had been dancing with Prince Zira in the garden, laughing at my own clumsiness, and the next the King had been there, storming in with that cold, murderous expression. Even worse, I hadn't expected him to pick me up the way he had… the way he had carried me all the way back to the room without a single word… Heat rose up my neck at the memory. For a moment, while I had been in his arms, I had felt the most comfortable I had been in a long time. Surprisingly, his pheromones hadn’t felt as overwhelming as they usually did. Instead of the usual crushing pressure that made me want to shrink into myself, they had been… calming. My inner Omega had quieted under them, content in a wa
Zenith's Pov:My boots slammed against the stone stairs of the cells, every Alpha guard I passed was pressed against the wall, their eyes wide and their breathing heavy. They could smell it, I could smell it. I reached his cell and ripped the heavy door open so hard the hinges groaned in protest.
Zenith's POVI stood at the head of the courtyard altar like a king that I was, hands clasped behind my back, expression carved into perfect cool. Only the entire court, elites, generals, council members had gathered, all dressed in their finest, their eyes hungry for the spectacle of their King fi
Zenith's Pov: I stood motionless in the hospital room, staring down at the pale, unconscious form lying in the bed before me. Silas, my so-called mate, looked ghostly white under the harsh lights of the hospital, dark bruises from the restrains marred his wrists and ankles. An IV drip connected
Silas POV One moment I was walking home in the rain, mourning a life lived in shadows, and the next, I was a traitor to the crown. It was a joke, it had to be. I was a nobody, like a ghost. How the hell could I ever be a spy? I leaned my head against the damp wall, trying to make sense of the nig
