Barlion Great..."He's setting you up for failure." Uncle Jeremy stated as he stared at the white Miner's clothes hanging in my study."I know." I replied, sitting back on my chair.Father has played me in front of the entire council. Uncle Hero had explained that those mysterious travelers travel only at night and they don't show themselves during the light. My father gave me from sun up to sun down and informed to to immediately go to the council chambers with my findings. He knows that sending me out in the day light won't get me a think about the night travelers. If he really had wanted me to find this people, he would have told me to leave when it's dark so I would be able to actually catch or follow this travelers."Why do you have a woman Miner's dress?" Uncle Jeremy asked, forcing my attention over to the similar clothes next to my white Miner's clothes, except it's for women."I am more than certain that no one will recognize you if you just go as a Miner. I don't
Frost Sorrow....Taking a deep breath, I played with the large silver key handing around my neck.I had fun with Prince Victor the previous day and he had been nice enough to spend the morning showing me around some parts of the castle. The little crossbow shooting lesson he had given me was fun as well, except for the first shot I took to the wall behind the targets. To be fair, all the younger Prince told me to do was to look at my target before I took the trigger. I had done just that, yet the arrow flew past the targets and hit the wall.I don't know what the Prince planned to do about the arrow in the wall but he said he would take care of it.The second shot had been bulls eye because he had helped me set my aim. His grip had supported the heavy crossbow, making it easier for me to look for a target. After that bull's eye, Prince Victor had asked me if I wanted to take another shot but I had declined.Pulling the trigger twice had been enough excitement for the day.So,
Barlion Great....Looking up at the statue of the woman, I let out a heavy sigh. It's almost sunrise and she still hasn't come to the garden.Maybe it's a good thing that she changed her mind about coming. It might not be safe for either of us.So, why do I feel disappointed that she didn't show up."It's time for you to go, Barlion." Uncle Jeremy said as he placed his left hand on my right shoulder. "Don't forget to be alert and don't let your guard down. I'll have someone out there for you but my reach might be limited. I don't want Viper to know you have protection."Nodding my head, I kept my eyes on the woman standing in the middle of the fountain for a few more seconds, wishing that she'd see me off and expect me to be back here tonight, hopefully safe.Walking around the fountain, I stepped over to the back entrance of the castle when I heard her voice."I'm here." Her soft voice reach my ears, sending a lovely trill to run down my spine.Turning around, I saw her steppi
Frost Sorrow...Clenching my hands together to stop them from shaking, I followed after to the rest of the women miner's.Once the men and women were split in to two groups, two guards took the lead. One guard took the men to the left side of the mines and the other guard took the women to the right side.I looked over my shoulder, hoping to catch sight of Prince Barlion at least once before I entered the mines.A tall figure caught my eyes and the miner was looking past his shoulder as well. It was easy to spot Prince Barlion amongst the many men miners as his tall and broad figure can easily stand out.On the other hand, I don't think he can spot me. Covered from heat to toe by the white miners clothes is not the biggest reason why he can't see me. I'm shorter than most of the women around me, causing the to swallow me from outside view.Turning my eyes to the guard in front on the women, I followed through, trying to calm myself as the darkness started to swallow
Lifting up a cloth Arementa had given me, I wiped some of the blood off of Prince Barlion's skin.I didn't dare touch his wound again after I had pressed his top to stop the blood. The Prince had groaned in pain, glaring at me for not warning him before I touched his cut.Arementa had stepped in, taking over the wound. She took one look at the wound and her face wrinkled as if she too could feel his pain.Arementa cleaned his wound and brought out a needle to close the cut. She had mentioned that it would have been better to have a fresh wound.Because when a healing wound is torn with force, it would be ten times worse and painful to close back.Prince Barlion had closed his eyes, clenching his jaw and hands as hard as he could while Arementa closed his cut.Unlike me, Arementa looked like she knew what she was doing. Every close she made was delicate and she sew his skin perfectly.Whenever Prince Barlion would let out a groan, Arementa wasn't fazed, but I was close to passing out.
Barlion Great...Looking at the first Inn owners Frost and I visited, I couldn't stop my anger from rising."What do you mean you've sent in false reports?" I yelled at the man and woman owners of the Inn, unable to contain my anger from rising."We-we had to. We had no other choice..." The man tried to argue but I wasn't hearing any of it."No choice for what?" I yelled out, not worried that my voice would escape through the closed door of the small office."My Lord." Frost's soft voice came from behind me.She pressed her small hand flat against my back, as if to say calm down, before she walked past me and sat down across from the man and woman who own this Inn.While he sudden touch did great to calm me, I was still wildly upset.I had walked into this Inn with a wound that made me want to retreat to the comforts of the main castle in hopes of finding out about these night travelers. I had hopped that I would have enough information to make a valid report after we retur
"Why did you do it, Barlion?"Letting out a sigh, I turned my eyes over to the setting sun."I did it to drive you away." I answered, not seeing the reasons to lie to her about it."Drive me away?""Yes. You see, I had made a deal with my father. He told me all I had to do to get to the crown was marry the woman of his choice. Of course, he went back on his word after our wedding ceremony."Letting out a sigh, I looked at her and realized that he eyes were now on me."I never wanted to take a wife, not for a long time. You had been the only thing standing in the way of the crown so I married you. But I didn't need a wife and I needed a way to make her leave on her own."Frost looked hurt by my words as she turned her eyes back to the sun set."You could have just said you don't want a true wife. You didn't have to go and hurt me like you did."Her comment made me want to kick myself. Her soft voice was filled with so much emption that it made me want to pull her in to my arms amd apol
"You spent the entire day out and yet, you brought no reports? You expect me to believe that?" Father asked as he stared me down."It is what I have returned with. It's your choice to believe me or not." I shot back with out looking back at him.Father slammed his hand on the table, causing Cassian to flinch. My eyes never left Cassian after he walked in to the council chambers. He was a bit more collected that he was earlier l. But once in a while, he would glance at Uncle Jeremy and I, wondering if we would out him any second."Do you think this is a joke?" Father roared out in the most tempered voice I have ever heard from him."What do you expect me to do?" I finally turned my head over to my father and saw how much he was fuming. "You wanted me to investigate travelers who walked through the night yet you insisted of sending me when the sun was up. I looked around the locals and the Inns but nothing is out of the norm."Father clenched his jaw as hard as he could, if no one was h
