~Avery~
”Sorry, first things first- hey sis, are you on speed?” Amber stopped and glared at Alex who had asked the question. Her eyes were huge and she shook her head.
Alex narrowed his eyes on her.
”Answer with words, please,” he said slowly.
”No, I'm not on speed. I just drank a really yummy tea,” she said giddily and rolled her eyes at her brother. But then everyone's focus went back to James.
Alex came over and looked at the scratch on his brother's shoulder and then up at his brother.
”It’s not healing,”
”It’s fine,” James tried to sound confident.
”James, you’re an Alpha and that mutt out there was a non-rank, low life, garbage eating rogue wolf. This should've been healed already.” Alex was getting frustrated, his tone was lowering and h
~Avery~ I was walking around the packhouse, looking for Amber when I spotted her outside on the patio, sitting on the sun deck. ”Hey there,” I sat down beside her and watched as she twirled what looked like a knife in her hands. My eyes were stuck on the handle, a beautifully hand-carved piece of what I believed was oak. The circular lines along the shaft looked almost like veins as they parted and came together in different places. ”What’s that?” She handed it to me, her finger gracing the faintest sign of an imprinted heart on the wooden handle. ”It was my dad's, it was his favorite knife, he always had it on him. One day for his birthday I had taken it and burnt in a heart, telling him that how ’now I wou
~Avery~ When I looked back, I saw everyone sound asleep, what made my heart stop for a second, was that I saw myself asleep too. I was laying next to Alex, his arm wrapped around my shoulders like a shield, my chest rising and falling with every breath. The ball of light floated deeper and deeper into the forest the closer I got and I followed closely behind. When I looked back, I couldn't see the fire pit nor the packhouse, I was far into the forest. I knew this place and I knew how to navigate through it yet a weird feeling surged through my veins as the ball of light stopped. It was floating in front my face as though it tried to communicate, I reached out my hand, and when my fingers met with the light, it grew into the size of a person. I stepped back, trying to reach out to Xena but I couldn’t, she wasn't there. I gasped in shock, a puff of smoke leaving my mouth when I saw the light melting off into pools
~Avery~ I laid down, placing my head on his chest, and thought about everything that had happened since I came here Finding out my father wasn't my actual father, that my parents never wanted me. Losing a family but gaining another one. Finding out about the existence of werewolves, witches, and vampires. Going to war with my father who invaded my mind and had me nearly kill my mate. Finding out I'm half-witch and have a special wolf. Being told I had to marry the man I had just met, or we would both die. Through everything, he was there, standing by my side. At times he was a douche but he was placed in an impossible position, and he knew who I was to him. Xena and I hadn’t spoken much, both of us in our own thoughts, grieving separately. The one thing I felt from both of us more than anything else,
~Malia~ ”And what if I don’t help you? Since you didn't ask me to,” Avery lifted her head, clenching her jaw, her lips forming a thin line as though she was keeping herself from saying something she would regret. A smirk came upon Ravens' face as she nodded her head approvingly. We all stood flabbergasted at what had just occurred. Raven had asked Avery a question, received no answer and yet it was as though the silence was an answer in itself. ”Show me the way,”Raven said with a pleased grin. ”Wait, that’s it? I wanna hear what would happen if she didn't help,” the guy, Lucas said. The older guy that I knew to be Fredrick smacked him on the back of his head. ”She
~Avery~ I looked at Alex, his eyes pleading for me to tell him something he wanted to hear, I knew what I had too do and I wasn't going to let anyone else suffer for it. I looked around the field, my family looking back at me. The moon was gleaming but all I could see was darkness and despair. Many times it wasn't what the eye could make out, but what our mind was telling us too envision and for me it wasn't pretty. The clouds were ash-colored as they sat thick up on the dark sky, the moon a ball of mass that didn't glow as it usualy did, and around me the green grass didn't sway in the wind, it looked burnt, dead and hopeless. I looked back at Alex and hoped that one day he would forgive me. ”I’m ready,” I said aloud, Alex eyes fell but before he could interject I pushed him back with every ounce of strength I had. His body was tossed ba
My breathing got heavier and I felt a sweat break out on my forehead. My palms were burning and an incisional pulsating-need spreading down my core and stopping at my folds were i was getting wetter and wetter by the second. I squeezed my legs shut and blinked several times, when I looked up I saw James worried eyes and within the second he was in front of me, holding me up. As we touched, his eyes grew dark and his voice got low and husky. ”Shit,” ”I don’t know what’s happening,” I breathed out, cringing as I heard my raspy voice. I saw a devilish smirk on the Alphas face, I grew irritated at his amusement, seeing as I had no idea what my body was doing. ”I think I do, and I'm glad as fuck that you foolishly saved me right now,” I was stuck in confusion, not understati
”I’m so sorry, it completely slipped my mind,” ”I get it, its been a lot lately and the ceremony hasn't been a priority, but it’s time, everything is set up and they're just waiting for you now,” I gulped and eyed Amber and the others with the awkwardness I felt within. ”I hate being the center of attention,” ”Well, it is a Luna ceremony and you are the Luna so unfortunately there isn't a way for you to not be the center of attention,” Lisa said, trying to ease my nerves but failing miserably. The yellow laced dress was beautiful, the cups would hold my breast while the lace laid on top. The silhouette was pulled in around the waist, almost like a corset and it flowed elegantly down on the floor like a golden waterfall. I grabbed it from Ambers hands and looked in awe at the
~James~ One day. One day to be all about Avery, surrounded by the people who love her, initiating her in to the pack as their Luna, as my Luna without any damage, fighting, drama or pain. Was that too much to ask for? Her eyes had turned black, her pupils dilated and her whole body was shaking as she fell to the ground. When she whispered for me to help her, I felt my heart stopped for a second. She was clawing at her chest, drawing blood. Alex had been quick to get at her side, pining her hands down but I hadn't seen him in the crowd. His hair was tousled and he never left without fixing it like all the other girls. She was screaming in agony, all the pack members h
