Chapter 84

Veronica Delacour was a name that I definitely hadn’t heard before. I didn’t need to see her clearly to know that the woman standing before me was a vampire. Her mere presence stunk of danger, and the coppery tang of blood hovered over her in waves.

Fear spiked in my chest. But I refused to allow her to have an effect on me.

I looked the shadowed figure over.

“What is it that I have that you could possibly want?” I ask her, silently seeking Nina out from the recesses of my mind.

“You have no idea, do you?” She asked me, a sneer evident in her voice. The woman spoke with a heavy accent, accentuating each symbol with a guttural rasp. Her voice was reminiscent of Estelle, only harsher.
