“I’ll come back, Akiro,” Heli’s cold voice was calm, making him sound even more dangerous. The Crystal of Fate had appeared again after years of waiting. With it came the last chosen mate of the Regia Solaria royal family. The youngest prince—Helios—was the only one unhappy about the Crystal’s return because he hated having his fate dictated by anything or anyone. Determined to resist, he left, refusing to succumb to the Crystal’s power. But when things began to spiral out of control, Helios realised the Crystal was to blame. By the time he saw who his mate was, it was too late—he had already been tricked. And just like everyone else, he was instantly captivated by his mate's beauty. Akiro Valerian Freniere was a simple human being—perhaps too good-looking for his own good, too kind, and far too hormonal. He attracted attention and admirers everywhere he went but had never been in a relationship in his nineteen years of life. He knew where his interests lay, but society wasn’t always kind to people like him. So what would he do when, one day, a persistent and strangely intense man approached him, claiming they were mates? A man with near otherworldly visuals—platinum blonde hair and red eyes that burned with intensity whenever they looked at Akiro. Oh, and one more thing: the man was also a vampire.
더 보기THE Crown Prince was lazily strolling inside the Royal Palace of Regia Solaria. It was the weekend, and so he was free of any duty, and he used it to wander around. Training endlessly to become the next ruler of their kingdom is exhausting, and he felt so trapped inside the training room that if he stayed for another day, he might just get suffocated.
And his mate was busy doing other things since it was also her day off from training. So here he is now, wandering around aimlessly. He lets his feet lead him anywhere, uncaring of where he ends up. Much to his surprise, he saw himself in front of the Royal Vault. He wasn’t exactly drawn by it, but then he wasn’t really focusing on any destination and let himself walk anywhere around the castle. So he couldn’t say why his feet brought him here. Shrugging— and then he looked around, nervous that his mother might see it— he went inside the Royal Vault. It was dark inside, with only a few torches lighting up the place. He could spot some glinting everywhere, which were probably the shiny artifacts that his ancestors had hidden there. He’s pretty sure the whole content of their Royal Vault is worth more than three kingdoms. So he didn’t dare to touch any of it, no matter how tempting it was. He walked around a bit more, and it led him towards a small platform where a silver table stood in the middle. On top of the table was an enclosed glass with a large crystal inside of it, shining with gold light. It took the Crown Prince a few minutes before it dawned on him what he was seeing. He spun on his heels, racing out of the Royal Vault as fast as he could with his inhumane speed. He barged inside his parents' chambers, but they weren’t there. Cursing loudly, he went towards the other place he knew a lot of people might be staying in: the private sitting room in the Royal Chambers. When he unceremoniously entered the room, a few got startled. His mother was one of them. “Hale Vladimir! Did you think the door was made just so you could barge in without a warning?” the Queen reprimanded him. In normal circumstances, the Crown Prince will bow his head and apologise for his lack of manners. However, he had something more important to tell them than to mind his fuming mother. His eyes roamed across the room and saw that only two were missing: his youngest sibling and his mate. Still, he’s far too excited to delay the announcement. “The Crystal appeared in the Royal Vault! It’s shining golden light right—” The Crown Prince found himself getting pushed away and hit the wall across the private sitting room when his siblings had dashed out of the room and towards the Royal Vault. Even the Queen had left. Shaking his head in amusement, the Crown Prince dusted his clothes before he followed his family. They were all gathering in front of the Crystal and were muttering simultaneously. “— finally! All my children—” “— decades of waiting—” “— all of us will have a—” “— wonder what ability they—” “What’s going on here?” The familiar voice of his youngest sibling silenced them all. Their heads snapped in the direction of the voice at once. Standing in the doorway was his youngest brother, looking at them with mild confusion. “Heli! Come here!” The Crown Prince called his brother. “Look at this!” With a frown, the youngest Lancaster child made his way to where his family was gathering. He abruptly stopped once he caught sight of what they were looking at. “Your Crystal finally appeared, son,” the Queen smiled at her son, her eyes becoming tearful. “You’ll finally meet your mate, brother. Congratulations.” Everyone echoed the same thing, completely oblivious of the youngest Lancaster’s expression. His jaw was clenched tightly, his red eyes darkening as he glared at the Crystal. “Stop fucking congratulating me.” All of a sudden, the air around them began to chill. They all looked stunned by the youngest prince's coldness. “Heli—” “How many times do I have to remind you that unlike all of you, I don’t like anyone else making decisions for me?” The youngest prince said in a hard tone. “Especially not a fucking Crystal that no one knows the origin. I won’t let that thing dictate who I will spend my life with.” The air grew colder with each passing second. Thin frost started to spread across the stone floor beneath his feet, the once warm-stone floor slowly turning into an icy shade of blue. Bit by bit, the sheen of ice started creeping outward as the temperature inside the room dropped. The cold inside the Royal Vault mirrored the cold fury in the youngest prince’s ruby eyes. “Helios Vladimir Lancaster! Stop this at once!” The Queen yelled furiously, a gust of wind hitting the youngest prince on the chest. It made him stumble a bit, just enough to get him to stop freezing the entire room. With one last scathing look towards his family, he turned around and left. “I think you’ve been too lenient in giving him freedom, Mother,” the first princess stated after a long silence. “I agree. He had been given so much free rein in choosing his bedmates that he refused to accept his mate now,” the Crown Prince said. “Let him. He will understand that he cannot defy his fated mate no matter how much he hates it, especially once he finally sees them,” the Queen said. “But what if it was too late for him? He only has a month to woo his mate, and we all know it wouldn’t be easy to explain this to a human,” the fifth prince said. “I know Helios; he’ll get curious over the pull he will feel once the Crystal starts its countdown. He would try to resist meeting his mate, but he would not win against the pull,” the Queen flashed a mischievous grin towards her children. “And once he met his mate, he would eat all his words and try his best to bring his mate here.” The Crown Prince looked at his mother, a dawning realisation came over him. His mother had seen it happen, which is why she was looking extremely sure about her words. How could he forget about his mother’s ability? It has helped them thousands of times already. It made the Crown Prince grin mischievously alongside his mother. Because finally— their cold, playboy, and rebellious youngest sibling would finally meet his match.Third Person’s Point of View“Take care of your mate, alright? Don’t let him go anywhere alone,” Queen Camilla reminded his youngest son, who huffed indignantly at being reminded of taking care of his mate.“Of course, Mother. You don’t need to remind me,” Heli replied. The Queen narrowed her eyes on her son. “There’s nothing wrong with being reminded, Heli.”“I know, Mother.”Queen Camilla huffed, then stepped closer to her son and kissed his head. “Take care, son. And enjoy it as well.”“I will. Thank you, Mother.”After bidding goodbye to his father, he left the room to find his mate, who told him he’d just bid goodbye to his friend in the kitchen. He met Akiro on the stairs, who seemed to be looking for him as well.“Heli!” Akiro exclaimed. “Are you done talking to your parents?”Heli nodded. “And you?”“Yeah. Though it’s a little bit disappointing that Shiro wouldn’t come,” Akiro pouted. “Maybe I can hang out with him next time instead. He doesn’t really want to hang out with the
Third Person’s Point of ViewAfter the engagement party, there was rarely a time when anyone wouldn’t see Akiro and Heli together. Where Akiro goes, Heli follows. The rare time they weren’t together was when Akiro hung out with Shiro, and even that had been reduced to just a few days a week compared to their daily hangouts before. They became inseparable, still on the high of their engagement. And despite their family and friends’ teasing and protests, neither of them cared enough to change it. Two weeks after the party, Akiro was left alone because Heli had to attend a negotiation with an elite vampire clan in Heldrix’s stead because the older Lancaster had been tasked with something else at the last minute. In his boredom, he suddenly came up with an idea. He quickly went to Shiro to ask his opinion.“What do you think?” Akiro asked.“I think it’d be good for you,” Shiro answered. “You’ve been cooped up in the palace ever since you arrived here. You seldom go to the town. You haven
Third Person’s Point of View“To our honored guests, I deeply apologised for the ruckus earlier, but I assure you all; everything’s been handled already. If you wish to continue the party, you may do so. Those who wish to leave, you may do so as well. My Queen and I will escort you out,” King Vladimir announced when he and the rest of his family returned to the hall. Just as he expected, Regia Astara’s allied kingdoms, Regia Terrania and Regia Valexia, had left soon after them. Only Regia Solaria’s allied kingdoms remain, as well as the only kingdom where merfolks live, Regia Zepharia. It’s also the only kingdom that is neutral. No enemies, no allies. Being the only merfolk in Eldritch makes them practically the odd ones out, so the others tend to ignore or leave them be.The party continued with only four kingdoms remaining, though Regia Zepharia left an hour later, leaving the allied kingdoms on their own.“That’s insane,” Aubrey commented after Akiro finished telling them the reas
Third Person’s Point of View“Had I known those humans’ filthy offspring were the one engaged to the ice prince, I wouldn’t have bothered attending their party!” Queen Amari exclaimed as she stomped inside their bedroom. “What a waste of time and effort!”“We should pay more attention next time,” King Lorenzo said. The Queen scoffed. “I knew there was a reason I wasn’t paying attention during the introduction. My gut was telling me it was a piece of shit that was in front!”In truth, she didn’t pay attention because she was busy trying to identify the weird scent she could smell amidst the hundred mixed scents floating inside the hall. That particular scent stood out though, and it grated Amari’s nerves because it was so familiar, but she couldn’t pinpoint why.And then, coincidentally, she almost bumped into the owner of the weird scent. Upon seeing the owner’s face, a memory from nearly a lifetime ago flashed in her mind. Her first love. Her first mate. Her first heartbreak. The o
Third Person’s Point of View“What the fuck are you on?” Heli growled at the woman, pushing Akiro behind him. The miniscule respect he had for the woman quickly faded the moment she yelled insults towards his mate.“That man you’re hiding from me!” the woman continued yelling, uncaring of the crowd that gathered around them to watch. “Why the hell is he here!?”“This man that you’re pointing at is my mate and my soon-to-be-husband,” Heli snarled, glaring viciously at the woman. “And if you forgot, you’re a ‘guest’ here at ‘our’ engagement party. So if I were you, I’m going to watch my fucking tongue before I cut it off.”The woman’s eyes widened, both in surprise at how the ice prince had talked to him and at the fact that it was Akiro who Heli was engaged with.“What...”Akiro narrowed his eyes at the woman, thinking about what made her angry. He was sure it was the first time he had met her, but she seemed to know him. And then there’s her anger that he had no idea where it came fr
Third Person’s Point of ViewHeli knew his mate was itching to find his friends and greet them. He knew Akiro was slowly getting bored with meeting different people from different kingdoms. But he couldn’t find himself to help his mate get out of their situation. Akiro has already fulfilled his part of the tradition, and he can go to his friends now after the introduction. But Heli didn’t want him to go.This was supposed to be about them, but Akiro would eventually spend more time with his friends than with Heli, who knew he’d be stuck with socialising with the other kingdom’s rulers.Heli knows it was selfish of him to keep his mate by his side when Akiro clearly wanted to escape, but he didn’t want the man to go. He didn’t want to see him spending time with other people while he wasn’t there. But upon seeing the longing look in Akiro’s eyes, when he finally saw his friends gathered at a table, Heli relented. He would rather feel jealous than see his mate look like that.“Go on,” H
