Avery's POV

I got into the car with my eyes fixed on Dylan. I couldn't help but feel nervous. The atmosphere was tensed and filled with uncomfortable silence. Dylan didn't even look like he was planning on talking.

He started the car without saying anything then zoomed off.

I could still see how worried he was.

"Mind telling me what happened?" I kind of whispered, knowing if I don't talk, I'd be left in the dark.

"I... Don't want you worrying yourself over a dream.", he said, not reflecting any emotions. I couldn't really read him anymore.

"Dylan please" I pleaded, already getting myself worried.

He remained quiet.

"Dylan..."

"I dreamt my dad was killed... I watched him get clawed but I couldn't move. I tried...I really did but I couldn't... Then you showed up" he paused

I pressed my lips together, leaning on my seat. The thought of Mr. Arthur dying caused a heart ache.

"You saw my dad's dead body then laid next to him, mourning... I tried going to comfort you but I just couldn't move...I just stood and watched... The murderer snuck beside you and was about to stab you but... I yelled your name. You were alert so the murderer moved away then you ran to me and asked if I was okay. I suddenly lost the ability to talk" he took heavy breaths

"You left me when you noticed a sleeping white wolf behind me then ran to it saying you'll fix everything. I wanted you to run away but I didn't know how to communicate. You walked to the wolf and started rubbing it saying wake up... It finally woke up and when it did. You looked terrified... Your eyes started glowing white, the wolf disappeared then... You died" his grip on the car steering wheel tightened.

I remained quiet, not knowing what exactly to say and wondering if asking questions would be a good idea.

"Then Liam showed up from nowhere... Laughing... He ignored me and walked up to you. I found it hard though. Then I pulled your dead body by your feet. I woke up" he sighed

"Was Liam the murderer?" I asked

"No... I couldn't see the murderer's face"

I didn't know what to say... I was worried too... Not for myself but for Mr. Arthur. Sometimes I just wanna die and meet my mom so that murder somewhat did me a favor

"What if my dad was the murderer" I thought out loud.

He remained quiet... Not knowing what to say

"Relax though... It's just a dream" I said to calm him down

"It didn't feel like just a dream Avery. I can't relax. I dreamt about my mom's death, relaxed now is she here today!" He yelled

I took shaky breathes not really knowing how to handle this situation.

"Avery. I can't let everyone I love die just like that... Especially not you." He sighed parking the car. I didn't even remember we were in a car till he opened the door.

We were at our destination.

The training center mainly for the Alpha and Beta.

He got down and I did the same.

Yesterday, he fought against a wolf while he was in human form

Today, he's fighting in his wolf form.

I don't know who he's going against today. I barely ever bothered myself wondering or even asking. This place bored me most of the time.

He walked to his coach, the Alpha's dad.

I could feel the tension between them from where I stood.

Dylan hates Liam's dad more than I hate Liam and believe me that's a lot of hate

And I could tell Liam's dad hated him as much.

I sat on the waiting bench and watched them, I don't usually involve myself in Dylan's business. I'd be more of a liability. I can be so useless at times.

"So what's up today?" Dylan asked without a sign of respect.

He never bothers showing respect for anyone other than his dad. The only person he believes deserves it. Oh! *cough* and myself of course.

Not even to the Alpha that could order for him to be killed and it'd be done instantly.

I've talked to him about it but he never actually listens. Most times he turns it into an opportunity for him to flirt.

I don't think it's his ego though. Mr. Arthur and Liam's dad, George have a hidden past cause. Mr. Arthur is hated by the Alpha and his son.

He hates them back.

"You'll be going against my son." he pointed at the battle field, his voice lacing with certainty and pride. He'd learnt to tolerate Dylan's rudeness over the past few years.

There was a big brown wolf there, stretching where he pointed.

That's probably Liam.

I couldn't help but wonder how he got here before us and still had the time to shift into his wolf form.

"Good" Dylan smirked, cracking his knuckle while letting out a satisfied sigh. Today wasn't a good day to pair them up for a fight. Not after what happened earlier at school.

Cracking his neck, preparing to shift, Dylan walked to the field while shifting into his wolf.

Next thing I saw was a big brown wolf growling at a bigger black wolf who simply stretched, maintaining eye contact in case if an attack.

The fight had begun.

I paid full attention.

For about 1 minute. Liam was dealing with Dylan.

Dylan looked weak and defenseless. I knew Dylan. This was probably an act to make Liam feel high then crash his plain.

I felt uncomfortable watching so I looked away for a second before paying attention again.

Now Dylan was on Liam, paws pressing down on his neck as he released low growls, confirming my suspicion of him acting.

I couldn't see what was going on properly.

All I knew was that Liam kept growling then let out a bark.

I think that's their way of forfeiting cause immediately after the Alpha yelled 'enough'

Dylan got off Liam, gracefully walking to the changing room while Liam growled, limping to the other waiting room.

Not too long after, Liam got out making his way to the bench where I sat then sitting beside me to wear his shoes.

I scooted to the side a bit, not wanting us sitting too close to each other. I had my eyes on him.

When he was done wearing his shoes he turned to look at me "Oh... Didn't notice you there." was what he said as he sat up.

"Oh..." I trailed, awkwardly looking away, holding my hands me.

Liam stared at me like he was battling with some thoughts before he finally spoke up "I'm... Sorry I rose my hand at you earlier.. I was just..."

"It's okay" I have my reply immediately. I didn't want the conversation to hold for too long plus I wasn't planning on holding any grudge. I had better things to keep in mind.

Liam lost his mate earlier this year.

She died due to a rare disease... He only knew her for a few months and she performed wonders on him.

He was once so nice and lovable. When she came along he got even better but when she died, he turned into what he is now

He's either 19 already or he's gonna be 19 in a few months.

He pulled out his hand for me to shake, probably to make sure there was no grudge. To convive him, I took it.

He smiled, sighing then got up.

Hmm

I remained quiet, watching him leave then getting up as soon as I noticed Dylan heading for me.

He stopped, standing in front of me in front "Let's go."

I noticed his fangs were still out, "You're fangs are out"

"Yeah. I know. I left it there."

"Why?" I asked

"So I could do this."

"What?"

He grinned and used his fangs to add to the 'magic'

I smiled.

I don't blame myself for falling for him. He's such an idiot

"I'm hot right?" He asked, winking.

I laughed at him.

The jokes and smiles were only temporary. The comfortable atmosphere was dead as soon as Dylan dropped his smile and I could guess why. The dream he had earlier somehow crept back into his mind.

"We should get going" I said, not wanting to stay too close anymore. I was feeling too uncomfortable to bare. I turned to start leaving.

I flinched, when I felt his sudden grip on my hand "What's with you today?" I whisper-yelled walking back to him, not bothering to try shaking off his grip.

I squeezed his hand to calm him down, not knowing what else to do. "Stop worrying about it. You're over thinking"

His eyes dug into mine and he could see how uncomfortable I was. He looked down at our hands then gulped, letting mine go.

I was confused by his actions but didn't bother trying to make any meaning out of them.

A gasp escaped my lips when he suddenly pulled me to him hugging my waist while my head rested on his chest. "I'll never let anything happen to you. I swear I'll never" he whispered it like he was making a promise to him

I smiled, playing with his shirt enjoying his comfort. "Okay Dylan... And I'll never let anything happen to you." I made my own promise, closing my eyes and absorbing his scent. I felt silly most times when I find myself doing these things... When I realize how into him I am. I can't help but feel like a fan girl. The feeling was already consuming me.

He realized a light chuckled, planting a kiss on my forehead while I realized a sigh. If Mr. Arthur saw that, we'd be so dead. A straight up 5 hour lecture.

I slowly broke the hug when I was sure he was calm. "Let's go" I said, flicking his head with my finger to set a playful mood.

I knew I succeeded when he smiled.

He walked to the car, rubbing his forehead while I followed behind him, hopping.

We got to the car then he unlocked it and let me go in

He drove off as soon as he got in after me.

~~~~~~>
We got to his house fast, greeted by his tired dad whose expression soon turned alarmed after Dylan said "We need to talk."
"Eat your lunch dear we'll be back in a sec." Mr. Arthur quickly said, holding my hand and leading me to the food he had prepared before following Dylan upstairs.
He probably wants to talk about the dream
My phone buzzed so I took it out to see what was going on
It was a text from my dad
Piss off: Be home in less than 10minutes
Why it's not even late yet. Why's he bothering me?
Piss off: It's an advice
I frowned seeing his last message.
Anytime he says that he means if I don't obey, I'm dead but then again, if I do obey, I'm still getting a beating.
"I'm off!" I yelled, filling my mouth with a few spoons of my lunch then grabbing my stuffs and running off. Not bothering to wait for a goodbye.
I got to the house in a few minutes.
As soon as I opened the door I felt sharp pains on my head. Like something just broke on it, forcing me to my knees and touching my face as a response.
I was bleeding badly.
I saw glass pieces on the floor stained with my blood.
I looked forward and saw my dad. This attack was so sudden.
He pulled me up by my neck causing me to choke.
"You left without making me breakfast... and you dare come late to make lunch?" he questioned me then tightened his grip on my neck.
"I'm sorry" I managed to choke out.
He dropped me watching as I fell on the ground with my hand comforting my bruised neck.
He kicked my stomach then continuously started stepping on it, like I hadn't received enough punishment, torturing me with sounds of his laughter.
I couldn't move.
He picked me up by my hair then used it to pull my head to the broken glass pieces
He squatted then pushed my face down making the glass pieces pierce through my skin.
"Lesson learnt?" He asked
I could hardly see, hear, feel or breath
"Yes" it came out in a whisper then everything went blank
    I laid on Dylan's bed, waiting for him to come out of the shower. No one had said a word since Mr. Arthur came to pick us up. Mr. Arthur himself hadn't even looked at me. I felt more uncomfortable than ever but there's nothing I can do about it. I had to stay since that's what Dylan said he wanted. The part of me that felt I had something to do with why Dylan and Mr. Arthur were in a bad mood was dead. Now I'm just worried about them. I already picked up a hint of what was going on. "Sorry to keep you waiting.", Dylan said as soon as he came out of the bathroom. "Don't worry about it.", I said, sitting up and turning to him.? He was fully dressed but his hair was still a bit wet. "Uhh...", he trailed, proceeding to sit next to me. "You can ask me what's wrong. I don't know how to start explaining if you don't." "Oh... Hehe.", I laughed awkwardly, sighing after. "So what happened?", I finally asked. He forced a sm
    Mr. Arthur didn't give Dylan and I the chance to talk yesterday. He kept asking questions about school and why Dylan didn't want him to come and pick us up. Most times Mr. Arthur over thinks but that's cool. He never fails to show how much he cares. "Tch.", I hissed, struggling to inhale the next breath. Waking up with pains was normal now. I never go to bed, I pass out. The mad man can't learn to give me a break. "Shit.", I swore, glancing at the clock then standing up immediately and stretching, enjoying the sounds of my cracking bones and letting out a loud sigh as soon as I was satisfied. "I'm late.", I said, rushing to clean up the mess my dad made last night and then to the bathroom.? I had to have a long bath though if not I wouldn't be able to wash of the dried blood on my hair. I always feel disgusting everytime I wake up but I could get used to it. After I had made breakfast, I rushed out. I didn't want to keep Dylan and Mr. Arthur
    "Remind me to never let you sit never let you sit next to me in class again.", I frowned, pushing my books to the side as soon as the bell rung. "And why should I do that?", Dylan asked with a smile playing on his lips. It's been there for a while. "Cause I learnt absolutely nothing.", I sighed, glancing at the board, wondering when they wrote all the science stuffs they did. I didn't even know the topic. "Oh...", He trailed, leaning on the chair and slouching a bit. Dylan literally talked through out school today and I couldn't tell him to stop. I didn't want to stop hearing his voice. It was comforting, but then again I wanted to listen to the teacher as well. I was hoping at least one teacher would tell him to shut up and one did, but he completely ignored him. It went like, "Dylan, please if you could just lower your voice.", the class let out a gasp when the teacher said that. "Avery I've told you to try putting yo
    "C'mon, he's not that strong. Give me a break.", I rolled my eyes, increasing my pace so Dylan wouldn't be able to keep up but he's not as sluggish as I thought. "What do you mean he's isn't that strong?!", he wouldn't let go of what I said about his favorite anime character while we were in the car. I didn't intend to piss him off this much. His face was red and he kept yelling.? "Why can't I think what I want to think about him? It's my opinion anyways.", I said, ignoring the attention we were able to draw already. "Because we're talking about Saitama!", watching anime became a hubby for us ever since our first try out. We always had different opinions and always argued about every little thing. He just doesn't know how to let go. I can be the same most times but still. "Your opinions are always crap.", he argued. I stopped by my locker, opening it and noticing as people around left without thinking twice. I was used to it and
    Of course, after that day, Dylan and I started talking more but then we were never fully comfortable with each other. Most times, we avoided talking about personal issues, probably because we feel like we don't trust each other or whatever but to me, all that didn't matter. Even though I can't say I had someone to share my pain with, I at least had someone I could talk to and that's okay. Dylan was a good distraction. He's annoying, funny and can be off. He takes my mind off things. It feels good to feel something other than pain and burden. At first, Dylan didn't seem to care. After the day he called me best friend, he barely looked at me or even talked to me. I was always the person walking up to him to say hi and start a discussion or something. Later on, Dylan got used to my presence, not really used to it but he actually started talking... a lot. "Don't barge in you idiot. Learn how to start knocking.", I groaned, rolling my eyes as soon as I heard my door slam ope
    I woke up the next day, with new clothes on. I was cleaned up. I felt comfortable but that was only for a second. "Shit.", I swore, remembering the later I show up home, the more the beating. I had to get out. After bouncing on the bed a few times, I rushed to the room's door, opening it as fast as I could. I rushed to the sitting room where Dylan sat with his mom. They both turned to look at me, surprised a bit like they forgot I was around. "Sorry.", I whispered out of embarrassment, then headed for the door. I wasn't embarrassed about startling them. The PJ I had on was what's was embarrassing. A onesie with kitten faces everywhere. I could remember the day Mr. Arthur got it for me. I was the one that chose it myself. It was so soft. I knew it'd be comfortable.? Now that I'm in it, yes it feels as comfortable as it looked but then I was sure I looked like a baby. "Where are you rushing to?", I heard Dylan ask as soon as my hand touched the
