Kyra

The pain woke me first, it was everywhere. In my temple, my ribs, shoulders. Then I noticed the smell potions and voices.

I opened my eyes to a dim infirmary bed. Nicole lay in the one beside me, arm in a sling, a bandage wrapped around her head. She was awake, staring at the ceiling with the same grim expression I felt on my own face.

A nurse bustled over the moment she saw me stir. “You’re lucky to be alive,” she said briskly. “ You have concussion, cracked ribs, deep bruising. Your friend has a dislocated shoulder and a mild fracture. Neither of you should be moving tomorrow, let alone fighting.”

I pushed myself up on one elbow, wincing. “We’re doing the test.”

The nurse’s mouth thinned. “You’ll be disqualified if you can’t go but you would be dead if you go. I don't think it is worth.. a.”

Nicole’s voice came f16rom the next bed. “We’ll go.”

I didn’t care about the pain. I didn’t even care who had obviously set that trap though I had my suspicions. What puzzled at me was why.

  • The Last Omega: Fated to the Cruel Alpha King   A dream

KYRA What do you think today’s training is about?” I asked Nicole as I tied my boot laces. We hadn't been asked to wear ball gowns this time, but rather simple, ordinary lace dresses. It felt like we were being sent undercover—as if no one was supposed to know who we were. It gave me a thrill; I’ve always loved a good adventure.Still, I couldn’t stop wondering: Where were we being sent? Why were we going there? And what would happen if we failed? My heart sank. Today’s training wasn't like our usual drills. This felt more important.“To be honest, I have no idea—yet,” Nicole replied, pulling her hair into a high ponytail. “But I heard this is the first time they’ve ever done something like this. Don't expect anything, and prepare for the worst.” She caught her reflection in the mirror, giving herself a quick once-over.I didn’t have any specific expectations, but I was determined to pass. “I just hope I’m paired with you.”Even with the uncertainty of the day, I knew I could handle

  • The Last Omega: Fated to the Cruel Alpha King   A mess

ZYRAN I carried her through the corridors of the palace, her limp body cradled against my chest like a fragile thing I both wanted to protect and shatter. Her blood soaked into my shirt. Its metallic smell only filled my fueled my rage. How dare they touch her? How dare anyone lay a hand on what was mine? No one followed. No one would dare. The warden's protests rang in my ears, but they meant nothing. Tradition? Rules? I was the Alpha King. I made the rules, and today, they bent to my will. Kyra's head lolled against my shoulder, her breaths shallow, ragged. She was a mess—cuts crisscrossing her skin like a map of someone else's cruelty, bruises blooming purple and black across her pale flesh. Her ribs were cracked; I could feel the irregularity in her breathing, the way her body tensed even in unconsciousness. And that stubborn victory she'd clawed from Liana? It should have made me proud, but all I felt was fury. She shouldn't have had to fight like that, on her knees, bleeding ou

  • The Last Omega: Fated to the Cruel Alpha King   An accident

KYRAI was not going to be kicking some asses. My ass was going to be the one getting kicked.I knew it the moment Nicole burst into our room two days later, eyes wide with excitement and a rolled sheet of parchment clutched in her fist.“The grouping table is out,” she said, breathless from running. “Come on. We have to see it now before the crowd gets thick.”I set down the wooden practice blade I’d been swinging in slow, miserable arcs and followed her out. My arms already ached from the extra hours I’d been putting in alone, but it wasn’t nearly enough. I was still slow, still weak omega who’d spent years surviving by running instead of fighting. The notice board stood in the main training hall, covered in pinned sheets. A group of girls were gathering around it, some whooping while some groaned. Nicole elbowed her way to the front with the confidence of someone who knew she belonged there. I trailed behind, trying to see if I was going to survive the week or not.She found our na

  • The Last Omega: Fated to the Cruel Alpha King   Picnic preparations

KyraI didn’t leave my room for four days after the attack. News of it was suddenly spreading along with the beta Zyran killed at the ball.Nicole had gone back home for some sort of emergency so she wasn't there to force me to school but still on the first morning, I woke up expecting someone to pull me out of bed but only the maids with breakfast came. The days later, and suddenly, I realized nobody really cared if I came or not. At least that's what I thought until I overheard a maid talking about how no one wanted to come to my room because of the rumors, and no one wanted to cross the alpha king The rumor had spread slower than I could have imagined. Nicole finally came back on the fourth day and she stopped short the moment she saw me sitting cross-legged on my bed, hair unbrushed, staring at nothing.“You look like shit,” she said gently.I snorted. “Good morning to you too.”She hesitated, then shut the door behind her more carefully than usual. She leaned against it, arms

SUSAN~~“Onyx” I mumbled very inaudibly, registering his name in my head. “They might have gotten in here at their lowest like you said but their lowest isn’t giftlessness, Rune” he responded in a very displeased voice. “There’s much difference between an untrained gifted and a giftless wreck. She is an embodiment of latter”“Now, watch your language, Onyx”I swallowed hard, slowly raised my head to check who had just spoken, RuneHe sat next to Onyx. He was lean, with shoulders slightly slumped in an easy posture.. His face was angular, but his features were fine, giving him a sort of youthful look. His hair was silver, he slicked it all to the back. The unique thing about him was his eyes. They weren’t a single color. The left was molten gold while the right was deep sapphire blue. My line of sight moved down, to his naked arms. There was a tattoo covering most of the flesh. It was hard to make out the art. If it were â thing, an animal, â plant? He’s no doubt, another top tier
