Chapter Sixteen
My head snapped to Damien. He lingered outside the clearing, in between the trees.
“What are you doing here?” I said, my voice quivering as I became hyper aware I was entirely alone. I pulled my hoodie closer to me, unsure why the tightness was comforting.
“You called me here” He replied, with a slight smile. He wore a casual suit and pants, definitely not something anyone normal would wear trekking through a forest.
Taking a step back towards the path, I shook my head. I wondered if I made a loud enough noise if it would wake Meghan. Or catch the attention of any other wolf around. “No, I did not call you.”
“Maybe… not you..” He matched my steps, coming forward. “But your magic did”

We made it home with the collection of books. Jax had them brought directly to his room so we could start going through them. Meghan dropped us off and turned around to go work a shift at the diner.
