Part Two: Chapter Nine

I slipped out of bed, stretching my sore body. Damien was sleeping soundly, which was a weird thing to witness because I don’t think vampires slept, but he was no longer a vampire. 

The moonlight lit up the room and I glanced out the window, taking in the dense forest surrounding the house. We had spent the rest of the day entangled in each other and I was trying to push the guilt away. I felt selfish to have a moment of happiness for myself when I didn’t know what was happening to everyone else. Rubbing my chest, I could feel the slight warmth of my pack, a reminder that I’m not alone, but I had no idea where they were.
