“You take at least a week of vacation-leave Daff. Have a break and relax. I command you not as your father but as President and CEO of this Company.” Mr. Marby stated with such authority that Daffodil could not refuse.
Just two weeks from now and she is turning twenty-one and as usual, her parents told her to travel and relax for at least a week away from her office.
Their business revolves into the fashion industry from elite clothing line, jewelry manufacturing and shops to fashionable home furniture.
She is currently the Executive Vice-President, next in rank to his father, who is the President/CEO of their Group of Companies. She is just twenty-one but her eagle eye for business is already very evident. She is workaholic and never thought of anything else but their businesses; their companies. Although, she dates men from time to time but she never had any serious relationship yet. She doesn't feel the need yet, nor does she feel being in-love already.
A good daughter that she is, she followed what her parents wanted.
And so here she is at the airport about to board for her flight going to Sydney Australia. Her parents booked her flight to Australia but she will not stay there as she bought another ticket. From Sydney Australia, she will have a connecting flight going to Cook Islands. This place has been in her bucket list for a long time already together with Fiji, but her parents never allowed her to visit it, saying that Cook Islands is not a safe place for her. She could not fathom neither finding through research what is the basis of her parents for considering Cook Islands as a risky place. Cook Islands based on what she had read is a beautiful and peaceful place. Some even considered it as a paradise.
She booked a garden studio accommodation at the Little Polynesian Resort, a boutique resort in Rarotonga. It is just around nine kilometres away from the Rarotonga International Airport.
As she walked out of the Rarotonga International Airport, she saw nearby the airport shuttle of the Little Polynesian Resort. Beside the shuttle is a native man wearing a uniform of the resort, holding a placard where her name is written.
Daffodil smiled as she saw her name on the placard. “Hello, I am Daffodil Marby,” she said introducing herself to the man holding the sign board.
“Kia Orana wahine ataahua,” the man from the hotel greeted her smilingly.
Daffodil knew few words of the language being used in Cook Islands, which is the Maori language. She understood that the man said, “Hello pretty or beautiful lady”; she smiled back at him.
“Whakamihi,” she said thank you as a reply to the man.
The man’s smile widened as he heard her spoke their dialect. He nodded, got her luggage and put them inside the shuttle. He then opened the door in the passenger side and motioned for her to get inside the vehicle.
Once again she thanked him as she got inside the shuttle. She sat comfortably and looked inside as they travelled to her booked resort for more or less twenty minutes.
As she looked around, she felt something inside her; familiarity, longing and other sort of feelings that she could not comprehend.
II
As they reached the Little Polynesian Resort, she gasped for breath in awe; the place is wonderful and so relaxing. The things she read on the internet were not therefore lies or exaggerated descriptions.
Daffodil went to the reception area to check-in and she was greeted with a smile and kindness by the female receptionist. Suddenly, the receptionist’s eyes widened while looking at her.
Daffodil saw the astonishment in the receptionist’s eyes while looking at her.
“Yes?” she muttered staring back at her inquisitively.
“Am I not mistaken with what I saw? You really have golden eyes Madam?” her voice was low; it was like a murmur actually.
Astounded by her question, Daffodil nodded. “Yes, I have.”
The receptionist suddenly became uneasy. Immediately, she handed her the key to her booked garden studio unit. “Here is your key Madam. Please take care,” she said in a low voice again.
Perplexed, Daffodil got the key from the receptionist and nodded to her while murmuring thank you, “Whakamihi.”
Tired of her long air travel and most probably having some jet lag, Daffodil fell asleep after just a few minutes of laying her back on the soft king size bed inside the room.
She dozed-off like a log until her spirit wandered into that realm of dreaming.
Then she saw a woman, running, too afraid while holding tight a child in her arms and then she noticed some sort of wolves running too, chasing the woman with a child. The woman cried out and shouted, her thin voice spread all over the mountains disturbing the peace of every species around.
A moment after, she saw a blooded golden wolf almost crawling, trying to save his life but three black wolves attacked it again and again until it lay lifeless, almost swimming in its own blood. The three black wolves growling so loud as if rejoicing for their victory.
Daffodil has been suddenly awakened by the ringing of the telephone inside her garden studio unit.
“Hello,” still feeling hazy she answered the phone in an almost murmuring manner.
A baritone voice replied on the other line. “Hello Ms. Marby, this is from the reception area and we just would like to check if everything in there is okay?”
“Oh, yes, yes. The unit is wonderful; I am comfortable. Thank you,” she mumbled.
“Thank you Madam, just give us a ring please if you need something.” The male receptionist said before putting the phone down.
Suddenly Daffodil smelled something; something so refreshing, it is like a cool breeze with peppermint menthol scent lingering into her nostrils down to her heart up to the deepest part of her soul. Daffodil felt flabbergasted unable to understand everything that she is experiencing in this place from the start that she sets foot therein.
Then the peppermint menthol scent became stronger; seems to be just so near. Daffodil shook her head and thought that maybe someone is just having a relaxing massage moment and been using an aromatic oil of peppermint scent. She tried to relax and inhaled the scent one more time.
Outside, nearby the beach, a man docked his speed boat and alighted therefrom with such swiftness. He looked at the little paradise in front of him and smiled. His smile however suddenly faded and his forehead furrowed when the wind blew into him letting him smell that sweet lilac fragrance that brought him into such a wonderful and heavenly feeling, making his heart flutter.
His lips all of a sudden twitched, when he surmised what that smell meant to him; slowly, a ray of smile crossed his eyes as he walk with more speed going to the direction where that sweet lilac fragrance came from.

IA tall, bulky man with a fierce look came in, disturbing the concentration of Daffodil.“Mr. Dixon?” the tall, bulky man asked while looking at Dixon.“Yes? I am Dixon.”“Please come with me. We will be giving you a few instructions,” the man said and motioned for Dixon to come out and follow him.Daffodil suddenly grabbed Dixon’s arm. “Dixon, don’t go,” she said as her heart suddenly beats fast. Her instinct was telling her that he needs to stop Dixon from getting out of the room.“Hurry up, Mr. Dixon!” the man shouted and looked at Daffodil with squinting eyes.Dixon followed while Daffodil sat on the bed with her heart beating fast.Dixon followed the man until they reach a room. “Please come inside, Mr. Dixon.”Dixon nodded and got inside the room. There were two men waiting inside the room. They were both seated on the three-seater sofa. The three men looked at each other. Then the man who fetched Dixon nodded. Before Dixon could even move the two men were already beside him. T
IDaffodil requested for a coffee from an omega maid that they passed by while going to the lanai area. Just a few moments after being seated on the lanai couch, the omega maid arrived with two cups of coffee for Daffodil and Dixon.“So, how are you feeling Daff that your wedding is just a day away?” Dixon asked to start the conversation. On the side, his ears were well alert while waiting for the go signal that was told to him by Drew.Daffodil smiled, her eyes starting to light up with excitement. “I am getting excited Dixon but a bit nervous too. Maybe this is the so-called wedding jitters.” She looked at Dixon and smiled.“Are you really sure about your decision of getting married to Lexus and stay here for good? How about your business in Los Angeles and your parents, Daff?” Dixon was trying to put a certain doubt in Daffodil’s mind, but the latter smiled and patted his shoulder.“I should not worry about that. Lexus is willing to let me visit Los Angeles anytime I wanted and whe
IBefore Dixon could make a step, a big gray wolf jumped in front of him, to his complete shock. All his blood seemed to forsake him out of fear. His knees weakened and his eyes grew wide while looking at the gray wolf. And then the gray wolf in a flash shifted into his human form which added to the shock in Dixon. “Who… who are you?” stammering, Dixon asked the man in front of him.“I am the new Beta of this pack.” It was Drew who was in front of Dixon.“Beta? Pack? What kind of creatures are you?” still with fear, Dixon asked in a shaking voice.“Didn’t you know? We are werewolves. All of us are werewolves here including Lexus.” The revelation added more shock to Dixon. “Daffodil, she should not marry Lexus,” he then said with worry and fear. He suddenly feared for the safety and life of Daffodil, not knowing fully well that Daffodil is a werewolf too.“Am I right to guess that you wanted Daffodil for yourself?” Drew asked in a confirming tone. He wanted to make sure that his plan
ILexus and Daffodil guided Mr. And Mrs. Marby and Dixon to the dining hall where food has been readied already. Alpha Daedos was also there, waiting for the arrival of their special visitors.Immediately, with a smile on his face, Alpha Daedos stood up when he saw the group of Lexus entering the dining hall. He walked to meet Lexus and Daffodil and their special visitors.“Father, may I introduce to you, Daff’s parents; Mr. and Mrs. Marby, and their family friend, Mr. Dixon.” It was Lexus who introduced their visitors to his Alpha father.“Welcome to our place, Mr. and Mrs. Marby, and Dixon,” Alpha Daedos initiated the first greeting with a broad smile. He extended his hand for a handshake to Mr. Marby first then to Mrs. Marby and then to Dixon.“It is a pleasure meeting you, Mr. Daedos. Your place is absolutely wonderful,” Mr. Marby replied with a wide smile too.“We will surely love this place,” Mrs. Marby stated too with a genuine smile on her face.Dixon simply smiled but never d
IHe cleared his throat first before he spoke with a serious expression. “He is welcome here, Daff, as long as he will not create any trouble that will affect our wedding.”Daffodil smiled at him and got hold of his hand on top of the coffee table. “I can assure you that Dixon is a good man and he will never do something to ruin our wedding. He is a man of good values, Lex. Please don’t worry. Besides, Dad and Mom are here, so I am sure, he will be ashamed to do something to hurt us.” She looked at him with confidence in her aura.“With that assurance of yours, then, he is welcome to come and stay here until our wedding,” Lexus replied, smiling this time. He kissed her hand and looked at her tenderly. They had a long conversation on the balcony before they separated ways. Lexus went to his Alpha Father’s office to inform him of the arrival of Daff’s family. Daffodil on the other hand decided to go to her room to rest for a while. She is smiling and has been feeling so light. In just a
