The City of Catara

Paige widened her eyes and said to her baffled, "This is way worse than a bad joke, they could have killed you doing this, you're lucky you only lost your shoes... You're not going to tell your parents? They must be really worried, don't you think so?"

Cassy decided to use this girl's past at least she wouldn't have to explain that her parents lived in another world, and they must be crazy with grief and pain because they probably thought she was dead by now, "I live in the orphanage, but I turned 18 yesterday and after what happened to me today, I want to take my chances and try to pass the tests for mages to be able to get into the Academy of Catara, I don't want to ever go back there."

Paige nodded and said to her, "I can understand you, I wouldn't want to go back there either, and if you want to take the tests for mages, I think it would be better if you wait until tomorrow morning.

Today, especially at this time, there are a lot of people lining up to take the tests and it's not even sure you'll be able to take them before they close.

You'll have a better chance tomorrow morning, my father will be able to get you in easier, he's one of the best instructors in the Academy for warriors, and my older brother is already in the academy too.

He's 20 years old and he's a warrior like my father, they're coming home tonight, you'll be able to meet them and ask them questions if you want."

Cassy's eyes widened in surprise, she really had a hard time to beleive she could be so lucky, but she said to her, "Paige, that's very generous of you but I don't want to intrude on your family, if your mom can help me out a little by buying these herbs back that would be already great."

Paige laughed heartily and said to her, "Wait and see how my mom will react when she will see the state you're in and what herbs you're bringing her, trust me you'll have no choice but to accept our hospitality."

Cassy smiled at her and continued to follow her asking, "Are the herbs I found really that rare?"

Paige said as she looked again at the herbs she had picked from her basket, "Not only are they rare, but I've never seen them of this quality before.

They are magic herbs that are used to make level 4 and 5 magic pills and the mages that live here sometimes have to go in other cities to be able to get them, when they will find out my mom has them they will all want them."

While she was listening to her carefully because she didn't know that these herbs here were considered magic herbs and could be used to make magic pills, Paige continued to give her information that would probably be very useful for the future, "Moreover, they are all mature which means that as soon as my mother will replant them, they will already be ready to give seeds."

Paige was so exicted that her eyes were shining, "My mother won't believe her eyes, even if they take two months to mature after she plants the seeds, thanks to you she will be able to create a stock, she will be delighted."

Cassy smiled at her, if this family decided to help her it would be easy for her to thank them, since she was a little girl she had always been able to make any plant or tree grow without any problem, and all she needed was a roof for the night and new shoes, a new dress wouldn’t be a luxury either, but even if Paige seemed very excited, she was still unaware of the prices charged here.

The girl whose memories she had inherited didn't even know that herbs could be resold, all she knew was that a new dress would cost her about 50 silver coins and new shoes 20 silver coins, and she also knew that 1 000 silver coins was the equivalent of one gold coin, even though this girl had never seen one.

Paige added with a smirk, "Luckily for me, the girls who were with me only paid attention to your appearance and not to what was in your bark.

Two of them have already entered the Academy of Catara as mages, but they don't have much potential, they'll be green with envy when they realize what they have missed."

Cassy then asked her as she didn't remember that the medicinal herbs her mom bought could make seeds, "Paige, you said these magic herbs can make seeds, I didn't know that, how many seeds can they provide?"

Paige smiled at her, magic herbs were a real passion for her, so she was happy to be able to talk about them, "I honestly don't know, like I told you this is the first time I've seen them of this quality, but for the ones that are of lower qualities, they can already provide 2 to 3 seeds a week once they mature."

After thinking about it, Cassy thought that there must be seeds in the soil around the herbs she had wanted to treat, and that was why they had appeared out of nowhere.

And as they finally entered the city, Cassy was pleasantly surprised, as she had already guessed, unlike this girl's village which was very rustic, the houses and buildings of this city, although not of contemporary or futuristic architecture, still looked like those of her world, and in fact this city resembled those of her world which had to be built quickly to cope with the rapid increase in population.

Everything seemed to be functional in this city, the buildings and houses were stuck together, and a large avenue seemed to cross it from one side to the other, Paige told her that this large avenue was the shopping street of the city and that her mother's store was located near the large central square.

As she walked along she saw that all the facades were cream-colored with slate roofs and the window shutters and doors were all in different colors which gave a lot of charm to this city.

But what surprised her the most was the lack of transportation, there were no cars here, nor scooters, nor even bicycles or skateboards, everyone was moving on foot and nobody was complaining.
