Chapter 13: Goodbye

"Damn!" Alicia muttered, as the key wouldn't fit into the lock several times. She took a deep breath and tried to calm down. Finally, the key was inserted into the correct position.

The moment the engine roared to life, Alisha let out a sigh of relief. She slammed on the gas pedal, and the car shot out of the parking lot like an arrow. The tires screeched against the ground, and the car swayed slightly. In the rearview mirror, she saw the man had run onto the road and was already dialing his phone.

Alicia's heart was still racing at an alarming rate, but she forced herself to concentrate on the road. Following the route she remembered, she began driving towards the suburbs of the city. The city was bathed in the glow of nighttime lights, and the number of pedestrians and vehicles on the streets was gradually decreasing. Neon lights cast colorful shadows on the car windows, and Alisha felt as if she were in a surreal dream.
