“Lies!” Nadia’s voice cuts through the silence once again as she takes a few steps closer to us.
“She is lying Lucian and you know it too. She could not carry your seed because her wolf is weak!” She said in one breath as she placed her horrid hand on Lucian’s shoulder.
Something about her pissed me off and I don’t know if it was because of the way she called his name or because she knew that secret about me. How in the goddess name did she know? Did Lucian….?
“Who told you about me?” I found myself asking Nadia as my brows curled into a frown while Lucian still processed my news to him.
Nadia chuckled
“Oh, my sweet Lucian here told me everything about you, his weak Luna, whilst he tried to fit his massive cock inside me and fill me with his seeds. And God I enjoyed every bit of it.” Nadia bit her lips seductively as she traced an invisible line with her finger on Lucian’s back.
“Poor Luna, you haven’t even stopped to think of why he hasn’t marked you. He obviously doesn’t want you but a weakling like you would never know.” She continued as she pouted her lips mockingly.
“Let me have her now!” Mera snarls in my mind.
I was shocked and yet satisfied with her offer. I definitely shouldn't listen to her. I wanted to fight her temptation. However, I couldn’t. This was my chance to prove to Lucian that I’m not a weakling.
A venomous growl rattled through my chest as I let my wolf take over. My bones popped loudly and my dress tore into shreds, my skin stretched in a sinister way as ink black fur rapidly covers them. My teeth elongating into fangs with drool dripping from it.
And in the twinkle of an eye, I was thrown deep into Mera’s raging mind. Our body move in sync as Mera sank her canines into Nadia’s shoulder, her body felt fragile within Mera’s jaw as she tossed her effortlessly across the desk.
I was too busy being fascinated and yet terrified by Mera’s strength that I totally forgot Lucian was behind me. Mera was also distracted by her fury as a powerful blow caught her off guard.
The force sent us crashing into the wall but Mera stood back up, shaking her thick black fur like nothing happened as she prepare for another attack. We are now faced with an angry looking Lucian and I was beginning to regret my decision for Mera’s control.
“Shift!” Lucian ordered us, his growl shaking the entire room as his irises swirl in blood red. The sight of it was amazing and yet terrifying at the same time.
“Mera please listen to him. That’s enough.” I tried to soothe her but my plea fell into deaf ears as I realize the height of our situation. We had just injured the daughter of a powerful alpha.
Mera did not listen instead she steady her paws on the ground and barred her canines at her completely furious mate. The warriors guarding the door had already rushed in and we didn’t notice not until a silver tipped spear poked our side.
The sharp metal hiss at our skin as it made contact, the pain imminent with a severe burning sensation as it sink effortlessly into our hind leg.
“Isn’t this the luna?” I hear one of the warriors ask his partner in total surprise as they worked their way to contain us.
Mera snaps at them angrily ordering them to stand back but the warriors are relentless as they push back and forth, forcing us into a corner.
“Mera please shift.” I found myself begging as I wince in pain and she whimpers while licking her wound and at the same time snapping at anyone who dare close the distance between us.
In record time I heard rumbling of footsteps as more warriors rushed inside the half destroyed office. Two amongst them held long silver chains big enough to tame a crazed wolf which I was.
They threw the chains around Mera without hesitation and it only took a matter of minutes before she was pinned to the ground. She could only growl and fight the effects of the chain for so long before finally giving in as she switched to my human form.
“What’s going on here?” A voice hard as steel booms from the office threshold.
The warriors had obstructed me from seeing the face behind the voice as they adjusted the chain around my body. Even though the chains dulled my senses I could still perceive the scent of sandalwood and onyx that slowly filled the tension thick air. Alpha Maddox was already here.
“She was out of control but I have taken care of it.” Lucian answered as he took a quick glance at me while his iris swirled in red hatred and disgust.
“Have you?” Nadia’s voice cracked from behind the desk as she slowly stood up with her hand clutching her bitten shoulder which bled abundantly as the wound gradually sealed up.
Alpha Maddox hurled a vibrant string of curses, his terrifying growl filled the room as his daughter walked to his side. But I was too weak to be terrified of his promised threats as blood gushed out of every opening in my flesh where I had been stabbed with silver.
“Lucian.” I called out weakly, hoping he would save me and tell the warriors to lift their chains off from me as he walked closer to me.
He sighed deeply before looking me in the eyes.
“By the power of the moon goddess, I Lucian, alpha of the silver fang pack, rejects you, Fiona, as my mate.” Lucian’s eyes didn’t leave mine as he broke our bond without hesitation.
Mera howled sorrowfully as the bond ripped from our souls like dried wax. My fingers clutched my chest and it felt like the world was shut off from me or I from the world.
I had always imagined a bond break to be the most devastating and heartbreaking thing that could happen to a wolf. However, I didn’t feel any of that. My soul felt like a shell of nothingness, a total void of wills and lack of the very essence of life itself.
Mera walked into the darkness of my mind. Her whimpers holding dark promises of her never coming back out.
“Take her to the dungeon and lock her up. See it fit that you threat her with no respect at all, she is no longer your Luna. And also find her something to cover her with.” Lucian signaled to the warriors.
“Yes alpha!” The warriors chorused.
Without hesitation the warriors did just as he had ordered them to, I couldn’t even bring myself to beg him as I was being dragged naked and like a rag doll, which made me look guilty in the eyes of everyone. I was humiliated and reduced to absolutely nothing.
FionaEverything felt too fast. Too loud. Too bright. My heart was beating so hard that it almost felt like it would jump right out of my chest. My wolf kept whimpering inside me, saying the same thing over and over again like a broken drum.“He’s not dead. He’s not dead. He’s not dead.”And I could not even push the voice away, because a part of me already knew it was true.Orion was alive. Somehow. Someway. And he was coming for me.The flames around the borderland were still dancing high in the air, burning everything in sight. Wolves were screaming. Some falling and some rising again before falling once more. The heat stung my skin like tiny needles. My fingers shook as I held my son close to my chest. Lucian stood in front of me with a snarl so deep that the ground vibrated.“There! Right there!” a warrior shouted suddenly.Every warrior’s eyes turned to the moving shape inside the flames. Lucian stiffened. My breath caught in my throat. The shape moved closer and closer, until
Three years later,FionaI do not know when it really started. Maybe it was the night the wind sounded like someone crying. Or maybe it was the morning my little boy woke up with tears on his cheeks and said something that made every part of me freeze.“Uncle’s cold.”Just like that. Soft. Like he did not even know the words he said.Lucian turned to me so fast that I almost stepped back. His eyes were wide like he expected me to explain it. But how was I supposed to explain something I did not understand myself. I only reached for my son. He climbed into my arms quickly and hid his face on my shoulder like the world was too heavy for him.“Maybe he was dreaming,” Lucian whispered. But his voice shook too.I nodded but I knew he was not dreaming. I knew it in the deepest part of my chest because I heard it too, sometimes, when everything was silent. A voice. A voice that sounded like Orion but also did not sound like him. A voice that felt like it was made of smoke and fire and old pa
FionaOrion. It can’t be. It’s impossible. He burned. I saw the flames consume him. I watched that fire eat through every piece of him until there was nothing left. But those eyes… I’d know them anywhere. The warrior beside me grips his sword tighter. “Should I pursue, Luna?”I couldn’t even answer. My lips parted, but the words refused to come out of it. In that moment of fear and hesitation, the figure turns and it vanishes into the fog behind the tree lines, disappearing as if the forest swallowed it whole.“Wait—!” I take a step forward, but the warrior’s hand catches my arm.“Whatever that was, it is gone now, Luna,” he says, scanning the area cautiously. “It might’ve even been a stray rogue.”No. No. I shook my head absentmindedly. It wasn't. I can still feel it—the weight of that gaze, the silent accusation buried in those eyes. It’s……terrifying. By the time we get back to the pack house, the image of that wolf has somehow burned itself into my mind like a scar that refuses to
FionaIt didn't take long before the untouched parts of the pack house were swallowed by the fire. Lucian’s arms were wrapped around me, but it was to prevent me from running inside because I would have. My heart sank, sheer horror and shock gripped me at the same time. The crushing weight of knowing nothing could be done settled deep inside me. My chest convulsed, lungs seizing as though I too was being swallowed alive. I wanted to run to him—to do something at least, but Lucian’s firm arms around my waist prevented me. “No…” I whimpered like a kitten, the word was nothing but air, fragile and pitiful. Tears violently blurred my vision, but I could bring myself to look away. Every second stretched into eternity. Guilt dug its claws into my side, whispering that I should have stopped this, that love was supposed to protect—that I was supposed to protect him just as he had always protected me. “There’s nothing anyone could have done, Fiona. The fire couldn’t be stopped even if w
FionaMaddox’s wolf continued to squeal and whimper as it kicked and jumped around in the fire that now locked away his fur. That, however, was just background noise to Lucian and Orion. The two glared down at one another with an intensity that spoke volumes of promised violence, death even. Lucian’s gaze burned with an intensity that made my soul quiver, even though his aggression wasn’t directed at me. “Lucian, please, listen to me,” my voice came out in a stammer, but I pushed on, taking causations steps closer to him. “We don’t have time for this. Orion is on your side.”“He wasn’t on my side when he sent those rogues through my border. He’s a f*cking traitor, Fiona.”“He was blinded by rage, and did it all out of anger. He wasn’t thinking straight…”“Tell me, Fiona, why was he raged, and since when has hatred been eating him from the inside?” He asked, jaw clenched as he stalked forward. “This bastard has been pretending to be loyal to me all these years, and you’re taking his
Fiona“Lucian!” I cried, dodging balls of fire, falling from the ceiling as I hurried towards them. The wall of fire wasn’t enough to stop me from diving through to get hold of whoever was brutalizing my mate. The moment I crossed the inferno into the mostly untouched part of the room, anger coiled through me. Kneeling over Lucian, was an evil figure, wiping his victim’s blood off his blade with his tongue. Maddox. “Look who has the last laugh, you fool,” he laughed. He mustn’t have noticed or heard me enter from all the noise of the ceiling crash and roaring flames. But I was quick to give him a notice. I landed a blow I thought was fatal on the side of his face from behind. Maddox grunts, falling off Lucian’s bleeding body. A whimper automatically escapes me as I knelt beside him, taking his hand in mine. I don’t waste time anymore despite the overwhelming force clenching my heart. Tears stream down my cheeks, and I’m blinded by it as I scramble over his body, searching for w
