They led me downstairs in tense silence, at least until Serena saw us, and fell in beside us as we reached the second floor. "Saxon," she purred at him, ignoring both Haden and I as she linked her arm through his, clinging to him as we walked. "How was your journey back? We should find a moment to catch up, perhaps over lunch?" she continued, and he stopped dead in his tracks, so suddenly I almost walked into his back. Serena was unimpressed, turning to glare at me, "Step back, runt, watch where you're going," she said, her lips curling in a look of disgust as she looked over her shoulder at me. I ignored her though, more concerned with the icy glare Saxon was giving her. "Did you hear me?" Serena said, lifting her chin as she turned to face me more, her hand still on Saxon's arm. His face only darkened further, and I simply raised an eyebrow at her. "I said.." she began angrily, but was interrupted by Haden, "She heard what you said, Serena. We all did," he said, and looked pointed
Saxon's threatening growl made her take a step backwards, "They're here?!" he asked, and she shook her head. "Not yet, but the first group arrived about an hour ago, and they're all taking about it," she said, and he started to stand. Haden gently placed a hand on his arm, giving him a small shake of his head, "They're not here yet, Sax," he said in the voice that I knew had such a calming effect, and Saxon paused, looking at him. "Trin is just giving us a heads up, so we can plan and react accordingly when they are, right Trin?" Haden continued, looking at her, and she nodded quickly again. "Exactly, I thought you should know as far in advance as possible," she agreed, and Saxon sighed, sitting back down and staring at her for a long moment. "Thank you, Trin," he said after a while, and she bowed her head towards him, before giving me an apologetic smile and turning to leave. Haden and Saxon fell into silence again as they continued eating, but I noticed their eyes going occasiona
When Haden finally lifted his head again, breaking the kiss, I felt flushed and breathless, but he clearly had no intention of stopping there. He gently pushed me backwards, and when I resisted, Saxon placed his hands on my shoulders from behind. The intensity of Haden's kiss had almost made me forget Saxon was even there, and as he pushed me down onto the desk, it was clear he was no longer content with just watching. He bent over me, his mouth lowering to mine, and his kiss was filled with as much fiery passion as Haden's had been. Almost enough to distract me from Haden beginning to undo my pants. My hands reached for his, trying to stop him, but Saxon reached for mine, moving them and holding my wrists either side of my head. He lifted his head, looking down at me as he whispered, "Don't fight it, pup." Haden hesitated, leaning forwards as his hands wandered over me, before cupping my face, drawing my attention to him. "Just say yes, love," he asked in that calm, soothing tone,
We stayed there a while, simply holding each other in silence, until Saxon sighed heavily, reluctantly pulling away and redressing himself. "Alpha duties?" Haden asked, as Saxon reached down to pull my underwear and jeans back up too, gently caressing my legs as he did. He sighed again, "Yeah, Abigail is here, and already throwing a fit, apparently." I tensed immediately, turning pale at the mention of her name, "She's here? I mean.. already?" I asked, feeling sick at the thought of seeing her again. Haden frowned at me, looking at me with concern as he re-buckled his belt. "Yeah, most should be here by tonight," Saxon said, and Haden's eyes went blank for a brief moment. Silence followed, before Saxon suddenly wrapped his arms around my waist from behind, nuzzling his face against me. "She has no power here, pup. Or anywhere," he whispered softly, "She can't hurt you anymore." Haden nodded agreement, reaching up to cup my face, stroking my cheek with his thumb, "And if she tries,
I heard her cry out, and the sound of someone hitting the floor, along with the familiar metallic clink of thick, metal chains, and immediately pushed my way through the crowd. Haden tried to call me back to him, but I barely noticed, my whole being focused entirely on finding her. And I did, sprawled on the ground in filthy rags, a collar around her neck, attached to a heavy chain, the other end of which was wrapped around Gamma - or I suppose Alpha, now - Byron's thick palm. Most were standing around, watching with looks of horror and disgust, except for those from Silver Waters, who seemed far less bothered by this sort of scene. Some even looked mildly satisfied, Abigail especially, until she looked up and saw me, and her expression turned to shock, then anger. "You!" she screeched, raising her hand to point it at me, "So this is where you ran off to, thinking you could escape your duties to our pack," she sneered, then turned to Byron, "She should be in chains just like her use
I watched Susanna calmly walk back inside, and turned to Haden, "What did she mean, about not being what she expected?" I asked, and he just shrugged again, though there was a hint of amusement on his face. "Haden?" I prodded again, as he took my hand and began to lead me around the enormous building, and he sighed softly. "Susanna is.." he began, seeming to consider his words thoughtfully, "well.. she doesn't miss much. And she doesn't let on even a fraction of what she's noticed. She understands more about the people and happenings in this pack than anyone could ever know." I frowned, thinking of my first impression of her, and wondered how many others saw her perfectly preened appearance, and dismissive, haughty kind of attitude, and saw little else beyond it. Haden glanced at me, then gave a soft laugh, "You'll find a lot of people aren't quite what they first seem here," he said gently, "Like Saxon, and his reputation. Hell, even his demeanor with most people.. it's not who he r
The pack house was much calmer when we returned, and Haden led me straight upstairs, seeming to understand that I didn't want to be around people right now. Especially those from Silver Waters. I had no doubt that Abigail would retaliate, for being dressed down by both Saxon, then Haden and Susanna. I could only imagine her fury at being stripped of any rank and demoted to Omega, and I had to admit, it was a little bit satisfying to think of. I wondered briefly what she had expected, coming here. Did she think she would take Byron as a chosen mate, to keep some kind of rank and privilege? Or even Saxon? Somehow, thinking of the latter made me feel angry. Jealous, even, and Haden noticed the sudden change in my demeanor, giving me a questioning look as we reached the third floor landing. I kept walking though, heading straight for Saxon's suite. Pushing open the door and walking straight in, I suddenly froze, seeing him and Serana standing in his living area, her hand on her chest
I woke up a few hours later, snuggled tightly between them, with one of each of their arms draped over me, and realised I must have fallen asleep almost immediately. It wasn't all that surprising, really, given how thorough they seemed to like being when it came to giving me pleasure. And how skilled they were at it. I sighed softly, trying to gently wiggle my way out from between their sleeping forms, to head to the bathroom. Haden stirred sleepily, his arm curling around me tighter, holding me against him, and I sighed again, trying to move it. He lifted his head then, frowning at me, until I hissed at him to stop and let me get up. "Where are you going?" he mumbled, still half asleep, then reluctantly released me when I told him. Saxon's arm was easier to move, though he still stirred slightly as I pulled away and climbed off the end of the bed. Slipping away while they slept might not be all that easy, I thought to myself as I used the bathroom, pausing to wash my hands and face
