Chapter 7

Author: Sugar7
Cecil turned to Cade and started to cry. “Cade, I didn’t do anything. All I did was ask her to pick the water lilies. The entire thing happened because she refused to do as I told her! It wouldn’t have happened if she had just picked the water lilies!”

Cade rebuked her, “What’s the point of having housemaids if you don’t get them to do it for you? Why did you want her to do it?”

I stood beside them and started dabbing my tears. “My dear, I have told the bodyguards to tie up all the housemaids and tape their mouths shut so they cannot falsely corroborate their story. I’ll let you interrogate them.”

Regardless of whether Cecil had intentionally hurt Sophie or not, the undeniable truth was that Sophie was pregnant.

Throughout the night, all of Cecil’s housemaids were fired because they failed to keep her in check. Their carelessness was what led to Sophie’s miscarriage.

When I went to see Sophie with Cade, she was lying on the bed in a plain dress and was still wiping away tears. She

Cade’s mother stated, “Don’t listen to that cunning fox.”She had Cecil summoned, and she rebuked Cecil icily, “Liam is Cade’s firstborn. Since you are the one who gave birth to Liam, you should take the boy with you and visit Cade’s grandmother. You could stay there for a year to keep the old lady company.”Cecil was appalled by the decision. She knelt on the ground and pleaded, “I made a mistake. Please forgive me! It will never happen again!”Cade’s mother refused to listen to her pleas. She ordered someone to take Cecil away and send her off to the mountain where Cade’s grandmother lived. By the time Cade returned home, it was all set in stone and there was nothing he could do about it because he could not disobey his mother.Shortly after that, Cade’s mother made up an excuse to bring Liam back home but insisted that Cecil stay on the mountain instead. At this point, I spoke to Cade and suggested that Sophie should raise Liam instead. “Your mother is getting old and does not

Sophie sat by the piano and offered, “Sis, let me play you something.”I nodded cheerfully. “Sure.”The song she played on the piano was mesmerizing. Cade was slightly drunk and was just about to get into the groove when someone barged in and reported, “Sir, there’s been a situation! We just received a call. It looks like Miss Cecil is about to give birth!”The house was thrown into panic in an instant. Cade immediately marched outside while I called out from behind, “Somebody, call the ambulance!”For some reason, the call would not connect at all. I gave another order, “Tell the family doctor to go to Cecil right now!”Cecil had eaten so much during her pregnancy that the baby grew larger than usual. It made her delivery very difficult, and she cried out in anguish all night.Cade turned pale with fear while I comforted him, “Don't panic. The doctor is the best gynecologist in the city. It’s going to be fine.”He turned to me and sounded relieved as he said, “I’m glad I have y

I smiled and nodded. “Okay.”Since Cecil became pregnant, Cade had her installed in the villa but would still make a point of visiting her every few days. Every time he went to visit, he would bring her gifts as well.As time went by, Cecil started to push her luck. She would call the house dozens of times every day and make all kinds of demands, claiming that the baby in her womb needed to eat more.I had instructed the housemaids to bring Cecil everything she asked for. She would demand caviar, truffles, fish, and steak all the time to the point where the kitchen was operating round the clock. Even if she wanted to eat ten meals a day, I would have the chefs oblige. If she wanted to eat food served at specific restaurants, there was someone assigned to get it for her as well.Eventually, my mother-in-law found out about this and became furious. She lectured Cade and forbade him from visiting Cecil for a month. One day, my mother came to our place to visit. She had a pleasant co

Cade’s mother smashed the teacup and cried out, “Take her to the hospital. We mustn’t let the child see the light of day!’Cade got on his knees and pleaded, “Mom, please let us keep the baby. It’s my firstborn and your grandchild too!”Frightened, Cecil followed suit. “This is my child with Cade and your grandchild. You can’t do this!”I knew it was time for me to step in. Since this was Cade's firstborn, I knew he would resent me if I was against Cecil keeping the baby. I stated my case, “Mom, don’t upset yourself. This is Cade’s firstborn. Let her keep the baby. Otherwise, Cade is going to hold it against me.”She gave me a look and held my hand tenderly. “Mia, I’m sorry that you have to deal with this. It was my fault for having raised Cade this way.”I strained a smile. “It’s fine. It doesn’t matter who gives birth to the child as long as the child acknowledges that I am the mother. If you are worried, then I can take care of the baby once the baby is born.”Even Cade seemed

“I have already told her that we are breaking up and that you are the only one I love from now on, so don’t listen to her nonsense. Now that I have married you, I will not be involved with any other woman.”I sneered to myself. The reason Cecil was so bold in the first place was because Cade spoiled her.I put a hand over his mouth. “My dear, we are now husband and wife. I have your back no matter what. I will not let anyone badmouth you, and even if the one you love is your childhood sweetheart instead of me, I…”I teared up at this point.Cade gently embraced me. “Don't worry, I will not mistreat you. I know that your feelings for me are genuine.”As Mia Lynott, I was blessed with beauty and wit, enough to charm all of the young men from the upper class of Somara. I knew how to use my appearance to get sympathy, and just as I expected, Cade was quick to respond to my grievances. While he took me into his arms and started to whisper sweet nothings to me, his phone rang.It was
