Bella's pov

I wiped my cheeks with trembling fingers and forced myself up from the cold floor. No more silence. No more pretending. I’d promised Sarah something I couldn’t keep—not because I didn’t want to, but because someone kept making it impossible… because of him.

My steps were firm, echoing down the hallway. I didn’t even knock. I pushed the office door open, and there he was—Edward—seated behind his massive desk, face buried in some document, as if the world outside his papers didn’t exist.

He didn’t even flinch at my entrance. Of course he didn’t. He doesn't care.

“You,” I started, my voice shaky but loud. His eyes finally lifted, calm and monotonous.

“Is there something you need?” he asked, his voice clipped. Cold. Polite. As if I were some guest.

“Yes,” I stepped in and shut the door behind me with a quiet click. “I need to understand why you act like nothing matters. Why do you ignore Sarah? Why do you keep making me feel like an inconvenience in this house? Why… why d

Bella's pov “I promised,” he said before holding my hands in his and placing a tender kiss on my bruised wrists. I might be hallucinating. It probably has something to do with the headache. Or maybe the everything-ache. But that kiss. Those words made… they made all the pain vanish away. “I promise… He will pay for what he did.”My heart started drumming wild. Heat. I felt heat taking over my face. “I… I need to…” hide somewhere.I couldn't say, as in the next second the door opened, and no one other than Sarah stormed in.That moment… that moment she hugged me — That was the true sensation of almost death. My back ached. My arms… I swear — I swear I heard someone crack. Somewhere in between my neck and everything else. “Humm, baby.” I said, trying to hide it, but I bet I couldn't.“You're awake. Papa said you were tired.” She said, freeing me from her death grip. I blinked in confusion. I'm what? My eyes went to Edward for answers. But turned away in the same instant. “How dare you

Edward's pov “Th… thank you.” She said softly. The crimson colour on her cheeks deepening in each passing second.“I…” she started, “I need to…” Before she could finish the door opened, and Sarah stormed in. The moment she saw Bella awake her face lit up. She climbed on the bed and launched herself to Bella's lap, hugging her like the last time she saw her was ages back. Bella closed her eyes tightly. A slight frown appeared on her features. “Humm, baby.” She tried to disguise, but it was crystal clear she was still in pain.“You're awake. Papa said you were tired.” Sarah said, recalling my little lie.Bella blinked. Her eyes went to me but quickly turned away. “Yes, I am… I was tired…” Bad lier.“Soo…” Sarah pleaded with her eyes.“Sarah, I know that look. Let her rest.” “But, I didn't do anything, papa…” Her eyes shifted between me and Bella, and a mischievous smile crept on her lips. “Were you guys kissing?” What? I arched a brow. Where did… “No. No. No. Where did you get that f

  • The Love I Couldn't See   How Dare you Touch What Is Mine?

Bella's pov I jerked with all my strength to break free, but his grip only tightened, sending a sharp pain through my arm. I winced. “Obey, and it'll hurt less.” He hissed.“No, please.” I tried to slap him with my other hand, but it got caught in the air. He yanked both my hands above my head and shoved me backwards until my back slammed against the rough bark of a tree. Making a wave of pain spread through every inch of my body. Weakness—that's all I could feel. “Please…” I whispered, feeling my strength being drained from my body, giving up on gravity. “Please, don't hurt me.” It left my mouth, quieter than a whisper. My body gave up. My vision became blurry. Warm tears made their way on my cheeks. He held my hands with one hand, and the other made its way to my waist. Moving up to my breasts. I closed my eyes. “Please…” Not even I could hear. Disgust. That's all I could feel.“Bella.” My name was called. Before I could process anything, I heard a loud and sharp hush, the sound o

  • The Love I Couldn't See   Let Go

Bella's pov “You can dress the way you want—A hoodie. A dress. That won't change a thing. You will always be you… that way… I'm sorry I didn't say it early.” Those words. That was all I didn't know my heart was craving to hear. If a heart can hear. For the first time in a year I was feeling… free. Safe, beyond my large hoodies and shapeless pants. If they can't see you, they can't judge you. If they don't know you, they can't hurt you—No one can hurt you if you're invisible. But this… I like it—being… seen. This way. That look he gave me at the stairs. I want it. What was it? What was that in his eyes? The ride was silent. A great piece of silence. This time we took less than half an hour to get there. Green everywhere. A grass that was so perfect I thought was fake. Trees. All kinds. All sizes. Flowers. More than what I know. Colours dancing in a perfect rhythm, creating a perfect frame. “Magical.” It left my mouth. The only word enough to describe the place. “Sure it is.

  • The Love I Couldn't See   I Want Her

Edward's pov I came back to my room. It wasn't in my wildest dreams that I would find Bella there. There, but elsewhere—totally lost in her own world—beautiful. Everything about her is beautiful. Especially the way her cheeks flush pink whenever I'm around. That's something I'll never get enough of. I leaned on my bed, closed my eyes, but sleep was something beyond my capacity. I reached for my phone. The one I've been staring at the whole night. The screen lit up, went straight to my gallery, displaying the pictures I took in the amusement park—the picture I took of her in that rollercoaster. That smile. That joy. That light in her eyes. I… I want it. Again and again. I want that moment to repeat, nonstop. That feeling. That warmth—family. “What is this?” I murmured to myself. “This… this is not right.” I shook away the thought. Shoved the phone aside. Closed my eyes and pretended that sleep was an option. *Later* “Where is Bella?” Jared asked, “Look at this… She can't cook

  • The Love I Couldn't See   Let Loose

Bella's pov I opened my eyes. Displaying the same blurry room I've been sleeping in for almost a week. My hand reached for my glasses and found them where I always place them. I slipped them on my face and the world cleared. My body felt like a stone. Rigid. Tired. I struggled to sit up, blinking multiple times, and waiting patiently for my mind to process the colours around me. I met my feet bare, jeans, white hoodie… That's when realization hit me hard like a punch in the stomach. “He did it again,” I whispered, “he carried me here.” Heat took over my cheeks as memories flashed on my mind. “Let's go, sweetheart.” His words. His voice. That smile. That tone. It was all printed in my mind. His touch. The way he grabbed my hand. The way his eyes never left me. “Thank you… for everything.” His voice echoed in my mind again. What is he doing to me? Why? Why is he doing this? I pushed myself off the bed and went for a bath. The warm water helped, but it wasn't enough to wash
