Looking into the small mirror which hanged on the broken window of her room, she made two side braids of her hair and quickly got ready for  her school.

"Amma, I am going." Properly wearing a scarf on her head, she left her room, calling for her mother but stopped on the way when she saw her father entering the house.

"Abba! My teacher was asking for fees." Soni told her father on the door. She did see the tired face of her father, and it ache her heart, but the words of her teacher were still fresh in her mind that if fees won't be submitted on time, she won't be allowed to attend her classes.

"When is the last day to submit the fee?" Akhtar Muneer was now sitting on a wooden chair as his wife passed him a glass of water, he asked, tiredness and grief were visible in his voice.
