Not only could I put up with it, but I could even smile through it.

"There's no need to give it back. If the token of our love is something that can be lent out, then I suppose the title of husband is up for grabs as well. In that case, allow me to be the first to congratulate you both."

I locked eyes with a stunned Jessica Tuttle. "Ms. Tuttle, since you're generous enough to give away something I worked so hard for, kindly return the 50 million dollars I put up to save your company."

The room instantly broke into whispers of disbelief. "A divorce? Has Felix lost his mind? Aren't they known for having a rock-solid marriage? Felix even took the fall for Ms. Tuttle back in the day. This is probably just a lovers' spat."

Jessica suppressed the panic rising within her. "Felix, you've had too much to drink. Stop making a scene."

Pulling out her phone, she tapped it, and mine buzzed. The message read, "You have received 50 million dollars in your account."

Jessica spoke with a hint of exasperation. "There's your money. You've been wanting that new SUV, right? Go buy it, or take a trip to take your mind off things. Let's just forget what happened today. Don't hold a grudge against a young man like Ronald, okay?"

Ronald Piper poked his head out from behind her timidly. "Thanks, Felix. Now that you've got the money, don't stay mad at Jess. Managing the company is tiring enough. Don't give her a hard time over the little things…"

My friend, Chris Hammond, was fuming. He grabbed a bottle off the table. "Ronald Piper, since when do you get a say in this?"

I held Chris back.

Staring at the cold, hard 50 million dollars in my account, I felt a weight lift off my shoulders. In her view, my public demand for a divorce was nothing more than a ploy to squeeze money out of her and get her attention. But nothing mattered anymore.

"Thank you, Ms. Tuttle."

I slipped the wedding ring off my finger and tossed it into the champagne tower beside me. "I'll drop off the divorce papers and the share transfer agreement tomorrow morning."

Jessica finally lost her cool. She instinctively tried to grab me. "Felix Burch, what is the meaning of this? Put that ring back on! I never said I wanted a divorce!"

Ignoring her, I turned away. "Let's go, Chris. I'll buy you supper."

As I stepped outside, the cool night air washed over me, and I felt completely refreshed.

Chris was freaking out. "You're just going to leave like that? That 50 million dollars was your own money to begin with! What about the two years you spent in prison for her? And what about the company you built together?"

I lit a cigarette. "Feelings have little value. Cash is what matters."

Chris froze. "You… You're not upset at all?"

I blew out a ring of smoke, saying nothing in response. The truth was, I'd long since stopped caring.

Three years ago, when the company was in deep trouble over a data leak, I took the fall without hesitation because I couldn't bear to see Jessica take the heat.

While I was in prison, two of my ribs were broken. And during that time, friends who visited me told me that Jessica had gotten herself a young male secretary to be by her side.

Just because Ronald offhandedly mentioned liking the ocean, she dropped millions of dollars to rent an entire island for his birthday bash.

The stew she used to make solely for me back then started being delivered to Ronald's apartment instead. The special treatment reserved just for me was now openly given to someone else.

At first, she visited me every week. But eventually, she came less often, staying for shorter periods each time and growing increasingly silent.

I kept telling myself she just needed someone to keep her company, that it was just a fling. I thought once I got out, she'd come back to her senses.

That was until the day I was released. I stood at the gate full of hope, but she never came.

Instead of Jessica, Ronald showed up, driving Jessica's Maybach and wearing the limited-edition couples' watch that was supposed to be mine.

He fixed me with a provocative gaze. "So you're Felix Burch? Jess was insatiable last night, so she's too exhausted to get up. At the moment, she's still catching up on sleep. Call yourself a ride home. We wouldn't want you bringing your bad luck into her car."

After saying that, he floored it, splashing muddy water all over me. As I watched the Maybach disappear into the rain, I finally came to my senses.

Over the last three years, I swallowed my grievances. I continued being the husband everyone expected me to be—all so I could gather the evidence needed to recover my 50 million dollars.

Now that I got the money ahead of schedule, I didn't need to keep up the act anymore. I flicked the ash off my cigarette. "Let's go. I'm heading to the company first thing tomorrow."

Chris was confused. "What for? If you're planning to fight with her, take me with you!"

My gaze turned cold. "Fight? No. I'm going to wipe my codes."

The company's core technology system was something I wrote myself after countless all-nighters.

She wanted to set Ronald up for success, right? Fine by me.

I'd like to see how they were going to turn things around when all that was left was a hollowed-out system.

Those words struck Jessica like a bolt of lightning. She stopped retching and looked up blankly. "Syphilis? How is that possible? For the past few years, Ronald was the only man I'd been with…"Letting out a sneer, I opened my phone and played a recording of Ronald at a bar. "I feel disgusted just touching that old hag Jessica."Every day I take her money to clubs and hook up with the youngest escorts there while she thinks I'm working overtime at the company. What an absolute moron!"Once the recording ended, Jessica sat on the ground in a daze. Her money and company were gone. She had driven her father to his death. Worse still, the love of her life had not only betrayed her and used her as an ATM—he had infected her with filthy diseases.Jessica completely lost her mind and screamed.I stood before the floor-to-ceiling window. With Brooke gently taking my hand from behind, I watched those two being dragged off by the police and exhaled a long, heavy breath.Mom, I avenged yo

Grabbing the box cutter on the desk, I lunged at Jessica. "I'll kill you! I'll make you pay for my mother's life with yours!"Just as the tip of the blade was about to pierce her throat, a pair of soft but strong arms wrapped tightly around me from behind. "Stop, Felix!"Brooke snatched the box cutter from my hand. She pulled my trembling, collapsing body forcefully into her warm embrace. She gently stroked my back. Her voice was soft, yet it carried an unwavering sense of reassurance."Dirtying your hands over a piece of garbage like her isn't worth it. Mrs. Burch definitely wouldn't want to see you become a murderer because of them. Just leave the rest to me, okay?"Listening to her voice, I went limp and leaned against her shoulder. The tears I had held back for years finally spilled over, and I let out a choked sob. After Brooke got me to calm down, she turned to cast a cold glance at the disgusting pair still scuffling on the ground. She dialed a number. "Commissioner Hughe

As Ronald had fled with the money, Tuttle Group's liquidity had completely dried up.With her back against the wall, Jessica had no choice but to seek help from the venture capital firm that had just acquired all of Tuttle Group's outstanding debt. After Jessica opened the door to the top-floor conference room, she lowered her head, which she had always held so high. "Ms. Robertson, please, considering we've known each other for so long, give Tuttle Group a chance and extend the repayment deadline by a few days."The wide leather chair slowly swiveled around. The person sitting in it wasn't Brooke; it was me.Brooke walked in with a cup of hot coffee, setting it beside me in an affectionate manner.Jessica trembled, as if struck by lightning. "Felix? What are you doing here?"She turned to Brooke. "Brooke, have you lost your mind? You, a dignified heiress, are financially supporting him just to spite me? And you even gave him such a high position?"In her eyes, I was never anyth

"Brooke? What are you doing here?"Back in college, Brooke Robertson, the richest heiress in Javire's elite circle, had once pursued me relentlessly.Back then, it was practically a sensational story that everyone had heard of. But I was blind before and chose Jessica over Brooke. Nothing in Jessica's life had made her prouder than that. There was no denying that winning the total devotion of a man who even the richest heiress couldn't win over was something worth bragging about. And that was why seeing Brooke hold me made her rush over like a madwoman."Let him go! Felix is my husband! You couldn't win him over back then, so now you're trying to swoop in while I'm in a bind? There's no need for that! He's nothing but damaged goods."Brooke backhanded Jessica, causing Jessica's face to swell up instantly. "Damaged goods?"Brooke looked down at her coldly. "Jessica, I don't blame you for being born trash. But what makes you think you're qualified to judge him, someone whom I coul

During the three days after I left my old home, while I was trying to crack the phone, the company I had established after my release from prison fell into crisis. Investors pulled out one after another.A video of me hitting Ronald started spreading like wildfire throughout the industry. The headline screamed, "Felix Suffers Violent Mental Breakdown, Assaults Innocent Bystander!"Then the paid internet trolls struck next. They spread rumors that I'd gone to prison back then for stealing and selling company secrets. No one but Jessica could have orchestrated such a ruthless takedown. However, I wasn't in a rush to deal with the mess. I simply kept my eyes on the phone on the desk.Just moments ago, it had been unlocked and restored. I scrolled through it idly until I hit the chats from three years ago.My blood ran cold in an instant. A text from Ronald read, "Jess, I messed up! I never should've gambled! I sold the project dirt cheap… I'm going to end up in prison! Please, save m

Early the next morning, I went to the office.Once I had wiped out all the source code files, I dropped the divorce papers and the share transfer agreement onto Jessica's desk. Then, I went straight back to the villa to pack my bags.As I opened a drawer to grab my documents, I froze. Tucked at the very back was a set of matching shirts. And embroidered on the collars were the initials "JT and RP".Those were Jessica and Ronald's initials, and the shirts were from a limited-edition collector's series released eight years ago.Jessica had always told me that Ronald was just a plaything she picked up out of boredom while I was in prison three years ago.If they only met three years ago, why would they have matching shirts from eight years ago?Eight years ago… That was when Jessica and I had just started dating. She swore up and down that I was her first love. This didn't add up. If Ronald had already been by her side eight years ago, then…I pushed aside my suspicions and put the
