LOGINTori’s POV
The next day, the sun glaringly pierced through the curtains. I couldn't remember when I had fallen asleep the night before, but as far as I recalled, I dozed off in the woods after crying the entire night. But now... I looked around and saw that I was back in the Alpha suite. I was baffled, but I picked up a familiar scent. Lemon and honey. I instantly knew who had brought me back. "Gamma Sylas." A smile spread on my lips, but my eyes looked dull and lifeless. It wasn't the first time Gamma Sylas brought me back to my room. I often fell asleep in my Luna office when I was too busy to come back to my room to rest and would sometimes pass out out of exhaustion. Although I knew that Gamma Sylas was looking out for me, I felt more pain in my heart, because it shouldn't be his responsibility to care for me. It should be my mate's... Sadness spread through my heart. Giggles… A distinct giggle coming from outside the ajar window caught my attention as I slowly stood up from my bed. "Carlisle! This place is amazingly beautiful!" Raquel giggled as she held onto Carlisle's arms playfully. Carlisle too looked worried but indulgent as he guided her to walk slowly on the stone path, coming from the side where my flower garden was built. The garden I built and shaped with my own hands throughout the years. "As long as you are happy, I'll always accompany you as much as you like." Carlisle's magnetic and deep chuckle tickled my ears; it was gentle and warm. I stared blankly out the window at Carlisle and Raquel. He looked dashingly handsome, tall and strong with his healthy honey-colored skin, midnight black hair, and striking emerald eyes. His chiseled features made his handsome face look rugged yet regal. Beside him, Raquel was like a breath of spring full of life, radiant and captivating. Her golden locks fluttered in the gentle breeze, and her honey-brown eyes sparkled as she smiled under the sun. Together, they looked effortlessly perfect. I didn't know how long I'd been watching them, but suddenly, Carlisle seemed to sense my gaze and looked up toward the fourth floor's alpha suite. His cold, piercing eyes met mine, and the warmth he'd shown moments before was gone, replaced by a searing hatred and even disgust. He made no attempt to hide his emotions, his lips curling into a snarl as he continued to glare at me. "Carlisle, is everything alright?" Raquel asked gently, placing her hand on his chest in an attempt to calm him. Carlisle held her hand, his fingers tightening around hers, but his gaze never wavered from me. With one last look of disdain, his voice slipped menacingly into my mind through our mind link, dripping with contempt. "Don't even think about trying anything while I'm here. Just stay silent and act like you don't exist." His voice growled menacingly through the mind link, his tone laced with warning. With a final glare, he snapped his head away, the dark aura that had seeped out of him at the sight of me vanishing as quickly as it came. Turning back to Raquel, his expression softened, his gaze now filled with an apologetic whimper. "I'm sorry, Raquel. I lost my temper I didn't mean to scare you or the pup," he said gently, still holding her hand as his fingers brushed soothingly over her hair. His touch softened her startled expression, his focus entirely on her, unbothered by my lingering gaze from the window above. I only realized my cheeks were wet when tears dripped onto my hand resting on the window sill. The sharp contrast in his treatment of me compared to Raquel stung too deeply to hide; it felt as if my heart had been ripped from my chest and torn apart before my eyes. I kept my sobs silent, forcing myself to remain quiet, afraid to further provoke my mate's anger. Just as he had demanded, I stayed silent, immersing myself in my work, too afraid to leave my office, fearing I'd overhear or see something that would break me even further. The pain of my heart being shattered repeatedly by my own mate was nearly unbearable. I considered leaving, but even though our bond felt incomplete, the mate pull was still there a powerful force I couldn't simply ignore or turn off. I couldn't understand how he seemed unaffected by me, while I struggled to resist the pull of our bond. It was like a bee drawn irresistibly to a flower. If I let my guard down, I feared I'd find myself gazing at him like a love-struck fool, only to annoy him further. It had been a week since Carlisle and the warriors returned, but not once had he come to find me. Not a single day had he left Raquel's side, tending to her with unwavering care. Every attempt I made to approach him was met with harsh criticism, even in front of the pack—no mercy was given. To prevent myself from succumbing to the pull of the mate bond, I retreated into my office, hiding like a coward, trying to protect myself from the pain. 'Maybe his hatred for me, his disgust, is strong enough to make him override his feelings. Even the mate bond... can't reach him.' I thought, a weak whimper escaping my lips as a sharp pang of sadness pierced my heart at the very thought of it. A knock interrupted my thoughts. "Come in." "Luna Tori, the Alpha invites you to join him for dinner in the dining hall." The omega who entered bowed respectfully, though she kept her gaze averted. I barely noticed, too caught up in the fact that my mate had actually invited me to eat with him. "Did he say anything else?" "H-he said... you should wear something nice." My heart skipped a beat, almost bursting out of my chest at the implication. I had heard that no matter how much mates tried to stay apart, they would always be drawn together. 'Is this his way of making peace with me?' I wondered, a glimmer of hope rising in my chest. But as the evening wore on, I would come to wish that I had paid closer attention to the way I was informed. If only I had, I thought, maybe I wouldn't have suffered as much.Back at the Royal Palace, Victoria walked beside her father through the quiet marble corridors after another long court meeting. She looked up at him with a hopeful smile.“Father, may I join the border patrol again?”The Alpha King glanced at her.“The border patrol?”Victoria nodded.“I heard I used to patrol with the Royal Warriors before everything happened. Maybe going back there will help me remember something. Even if it doesn’t, I don’t want to keep sitting around all day. I should train and rebuild my strength.”As she spoke, she tilted her head and looked at him with wide, innocent eyes.It was the exact expression her sons always used whenever they wanted something from her.It never failed to soften her heart. She was secretly hoping it would have the same effect on her father. The Alpha King studied her for a long moment.“Are you certain your body is ready for that?” he asked quietly. There was obvious concern in his voice.Ever since Victoria returned, her days had sett
Normally, magic bags like these were almost impossible to obtain.Only traveling merchants who traded between different races carried them, and their prices were so outrageous that most Alphas never even considered buying one. Even after Carlisle negotiated trade agreements with the dwarves and secured a generous discount, a single magic bag still cost about as much as an entire year’s grain supply for an average pack.Fortunately, money was one thing Carlisle no longer lacked.Years ago, he had looked beyond the werewolf kingdom and established trade with both the dwarves and the elves. Those agreements had brought rare goods into the Red Moon Pack, and the profits from selling them had transformed the pack’s economy. Despite being pushed aside politically by the Alpha King, the Red Moon Pack had quietly become one of the richest territories in the kingdom.Under normal circumstances, an Alpha summoned to the Royal Palace received notice at least a month in advance. That gave every p
The former Luna went completely still. The color drained from her face, and her lips pressed tightly together. She hadn’t expected Carlisle to speak to her like that, especially not in front of everyone.Beside her, Raquel quickly reached out and rubbed the older woman’s back, wearing a gentle smile filled with concern. It was a convincing performance, but only at first glance. Her hands were trembling, and her palms were so cold they barely held any warmth. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t hide that she was frightened too.The former Luna hardly noticed the gesture. She was staring at her son, unable to believe what had just happened.Never, not once in her life, had she seen Carlisle defend anyone so fiercely. The look in his eyes unsettled her.It was the kind of protectiveness she expected from a man defending his fated mate. Not a chosen one.The thought left a bitter taste in her mouth.Instead of questioning why Carlisle felt that way, she blamed the one person she ha
As for Carlisle, he had already been pushed to the edge politically. The council had all but isolated him, so one more mistake meant very little now, as long as Victoria wasn’t involved. It wasn’t the smartest decision. It went against everything he had planned. He still wanted to build enough power to protect Victoria if the Alpha King ever came looking for her.But that was a problem for another day.Right now, he was still the Alpha of the Red Moon Pack. And no Alpha would allow someone to openly challenge his authority inside his own territory.Raquel understood that better than anyone. She had survived this long because she knew when to push and when to step back. The moment she realized she wouldn’t win this confrontation, she gave in with remarkable grace. She rose from the Luna’s seat without protest, her gentle smile never leaving her face. To everyone watching, she looked less like a defeated woman and more like someone making a generous compromise.Only Raquel knew she was
Raquel had a habit of smiling sweetly while quietly making life difficult for anyone who crossed her.She rarely confronted people openly. Instead, she dropped subtle remarks, planted doubts, and let others draw their own conclusions. Before long, the unlucky person would find themselves isolated or judged by the rest of the pack. It was a quiet form of revenge, but it was effective. Anyone who earned Raquel’s dislike soon learned that living under the same roof as her was anything but peaceful. The people closest to Sylas understood that better than anyone.Ever since he became Beta, Sylas had never acknowledged Raquel as the Luna of the Red Moon Pack, nor did he intend to. Raquel hated that. In her eyes, his refusal was an insult she could never forgive. More than once, she tried to weaken his influence and replace him with someone easier to control.Every attempt failed.Carlisle’s trust in Sylas never wavered, and Sylas quietly dismantled every scheme before it had the chance to g
“What are you doing here?!”Carlisle’s voice cut through the room like a blade. It was low, cold, and filled with enough fury to make the air itself feel heavier.Sylas stood frozen in the middle of the room. For the first time in years, the usually composed Beta had absolutely no idea what to do. His mind went blank as he stared at his Alpha, desperately searching for something, anything, that could make this situation less painfully awkward.Of all the things he had imagined finding when he entered Carlisle’s room, this had never crossed his mind.Seriously… why today of all days?Without missing a beat, Sylas decided the safest option was to pretend he hadn’t seen or heard a thing.Werewolves certainly had stronger instincts and far healthier appetites than humans, especially after finding their mates. That was simply part of their nature. Still, not every werewolf spent their life chasing pleasure. Many chose to wait.Sylas was one of them.At twenty-six, he still hadn’t met his f

Tori’s POV Hearing it straight from his mouth, I felt my world crash down, but I couldn't even let out a whimper as pain consumed my body. After being away from each other for a long time, our mate bond was weaker, but even then, I could still feel the pain in my heart as a lone tear fell from my
