Aria's POV

I swallowed hard, my mind a useless fog of heat, and deep cooling need.

Damn the mate bond!

A sharp knock on the door snapped me back to reality.

“I'm fine,” I said, my voice embarrassingly hoarse, as I pulled the sheets tightly around me, and sat up. “Come in.”

The door opened slowly and an omega stepped in with a cup of tea in hand

“Alpha, Luna,” she bowed politely to both of us. “Here's the tea you requested,” Alpha Jaxon.”

“Set it on the side stool,” Jaxon informed her.

She did as she was told, bowed again, and exited as quietly as she came.

A blend of mint, chamomile, and something sweet I couldn't place, wafted into my nose.

I exhaled slowly at the strangely calming effect the aroma alone had on me.

“You like it?” Jaxon asked with a small smile.

I nodded slowly in response. “What's in it?”

“Mint, Chamomile, and a hint of valerian root. It helps with sore muscles and sleep,” he explained, and picked up the cup. “Here

Aria's POVThe rogue kid left before sunrise just like he said he would, but all through the night while he was in my room, I laid stiffly in bed, not daring to sleep even though my eyes were closed. I couldn't risk getting gutted in my sleep. Even though he was just a kid, he was still a rogue, and if there's one thing that's common knowledge to everyone when it comes to rogue, it was the fact that they were highly unpredictable.I managed to finally close my eyes with the few hours I had to sleep, but it still wasn't enough, as I woke up in a grumpy mood from my lack of sleep. If today was just any other day I'd have slept in, but today was Sunday, which meant Council meetings.Ugh! Can the day start off any worse than this?Don’t get me wrong, attending council meetings wasn’t exactly a bad idea, instead it's a great idea. This would help me in getting back at Curtis faster, but goddess, I could really use a couple of hours of sleep.Evelyn had already drawn me a bath, and as I go

Aria's POVI couldn't risk nodding in response with how close the blade was to my throat. But I understood. Perfectly.A knock came almost immediately.“Keira?” Jaxon called out to me.Relief and dreaded flooded my insides at once.I was relieved Jaxon was here, but one wrong move and I'd be dead before he'd even take two steps.“Keira?” Jaxon called out again, and the man's grip on my mouth loosened, but the blade stayed exactly where it was. “I'm coming in–”“No!” I blurted out, thankfully my voice didn't sound like someone inches away from their death, despite the rapid rate my heart was beating. “I'm in the shower.”Jaxon didn't listen, and still stepped in.“Are you sure you're okay?” His voice was closer now, coming from the room. “You sounded like something was up.”I cleared my throat.“Yea, I'm fine,” I answered. “I had soap in my eyes when you called. I'll come see you after my shower.”“Alright,” Jaxon hesitated, but eventually stepped out.But his presence, even though I

Aria's POVI was seated calmly on my bed, reading a book when Dianne burst in with the energy of a five year old.“You aren't dressed yet?” She asked with a frown, as she gave me a once over.I looked up from the pages of the book in front of me. “Dressed for what?” “Please, don't tell me you forgot,” Dianne said dramatically, leaving me more confused. We didn't make plans for the weekend, in fact, I'd rarely seen her as I've been so occupied with training. Alex wasn't giving me a break, that I'm beginning to feel he has a personal vendetta against me.“Did the poison mess with your memories?” She muttered. “It's Saturday, Keira!”“O…Kay?” I drawled, closing my book and setting it aside, as she looks furious. And Dianne is hardly ever furious. “It’s almost sundown, Dianne. What's so special about Saturday?”Dianne let out an exasperated sigh, like she was done with me asking dumb questions. “Horse back riding , Keira. It's our thing!” she declared. Oh shit!“Honestly I'm surprised

Aria's POV “Luna Keira!” The panic gasp and screams from the Pack members snapped me back, and I forcefully took control from Zie, as my hands stopped last minute.I looked down at Jaxon and his eyes widened-from shock this time around.I looked at his chest and realized that if I was even a second late, Zie, no me. I'd have killed Jaxon Rivera, right in front of his Pack members. If that isn't a straight ticket to the goddess, I don't know what is.“Never underestimate your opponent, remember?” I said, trying to sound casual, as I got off him. “Even if they're your mate,” I added for effect.I stretched a hand towards him, trying to make it seem like this wasn't personal-but it is, at least to Zie, and for the sake of Lyra.Jaxon didn't take my hand, and just observed me.I flashed him a smile. I pray to the goddess it didn't come off as a grimace.“Don't tell me you're a sore loser, Alpha?”That seemed to do the trick, as Jaxon accepted my hands, and I pulled him…no, he pulled hims

Aria's POV In my head, I planned on waking up early So, when I did wake up to the sound of my alarm, I felt I had one victory for the day.Wrong!Because the moment I opened my eyes, and looked out the window, I realized I was late.Shit.The after effects of Jaxon's massages yesterday had seduced my bones into bliss and I had slept and forgotten myself.I sprang out of bed, cussing myself under my breath as I yanked on some leggings, and a fitted dark-blue singlet.I put on my boots, and yanked my hair into the fastest ponytail in history.“Good morning-”I bumped into Evelyn on my way out.“Morning Evelyn. See you later!” I yelled as I ran out like my ass was on fire.I'm trying to revive Keira's reputation amongst the pack members, but waking up late is the complete opposite of that.Fuck.By the time I arrived at the training field, the pack members were already doing some stretches-they were actually rounding up though.I tried not to draw too much attention to myself, but that
