The Evil

The elevator dinged open and Venus fell backward on her hand and feet as a terrified scream tore past her lips. She crawled backward on her hands and feet to get away from the horror she had witnessed.

Her breath was labored and her head clouded, every sense of her consumed with fear. Survival was the only call her mind could make.

Stumbling and falling on her feet she ran past the secluded area of the elevators and just when she thought she was out of the vicinity of the embodiment of the evil she had seen, she collided with something and fell backward.

Her head jerked upward in alarm only to come face to face with James. He was stricken speechless looking at his Mistress who even yawned and barfed gracefully, looking flustered, with messy hair and tears streaming down her pretty face contoured in horrible shades of fear.

“Miss Gracia… ” He whispered in astonishment, as she tried to claw his chest hard as she was clutching his shirt and looking terrified out of her mind, like she had witnessed a monster. His first assumption was an offender.

He looked back at Helen and Jane who shared his line of thoughts. He clutched Venus wrists and passed her shaking form to them to see for himself who in the damned world had a warranted death sentence but she clutched his sleeve.

She shook her head and then her head turned back to the elevator that was closed once again, riding back up, “Don’t! I… I saw… there was this… He turned to a… He is a monster! His eyes… He has claws…”

Shocked out of his wits he faced Jane and Helen who looked equally astonished at the revelation. They turned back to Venus, her fear wasn’t fabricated, she was scared to her bones but her explanations only rose assumptions that were more obscene than satisfactory.

“He… His voice… like a monster… he turned to a… an animal…” She was shaking and stuttering looking far from her usual self.

The three of them shared a look, realizing what it was. She wasn’t in her right state of mind but they didn’t expect her to be in one if what they were assuming she had witnessed. Verifying her obnoxious claims were a thing that could wait, first they had to get her out of here.

Venus Mable wasn’t just a name she was an icon. Nobody should see her like that flustered and unrestrained. It could severely ruin her image, which would only be the first of many consequences.

“Miss!” James jerked her well to bring her in her senses. Now he was in no hurry to investigate for he could smell the other party’s existence. “Please calm down.” He asserted sternly.

He was furious at the culprit’s blunder and by the looks of Jane and Helen, they shared the sentiment. Blood Moon was approaching and it was obvious an unmated beast had found a prey in their little lady.

Helen tried to calm Venus and whispered soothingly in her enchantingly cool voice, “Miss Gracia, you are making a scene here. This is Mr. Vladimir’ Hotel and the chances for such an instant are not possible. You were under stress and your mind isn’t comprehending it well thus you imagined it.” The Witch hypnosis did nothing to calm her, as usual, Helen's tricks didn’t come in handy when it came to the heiress.

Venus shook her head, gulped, and tried to counter weakly, “Believe me… there… he was a beast…” Before she could continue, her eyes lost their focus and she fell limp in Helen embrace.

Both their head yanked up to Jane who was looking aloof as ever holding a syringe in her hand. She shrugged with an expressionless face and mumbled, “It is an emergency.”

James heaved a breath to calm his nerves, not to rip the insolent blood-sucker’s throat out. Great! Now he’ll have to deal with this brat after she’ll wake up!

Helen shook her head and steadied Venus in her arms, “We need to take her out and report the incident to the Manager to clear all evidence. This can’t happen! You know Venus, she is going wreak havoc and will want an investigation once she’s back to herself again.” Ever the voice of sanity, Helen structured the strategy, carefully.

Reluctantly James nodded at his mate's suggestion and took the lady in his arms as they were about to pass when a hurried arrival halted their departure.

Gamma Jude Adams came running toward them and halted looking at the aberration.

He raised his brow in utter shock, What an odd group of hippies! A vampire who looked about a thousand years, a witch without a coven, and a rogue Lycan, all in sanity and harmony but that wasn’t what drew his attention. It was the lady– the human.

human who was probably making them stick together, somehow he felt strange calmness erupting in his core in her presence and strangely intimidated from her. His Alpha had sent him to deal with the woman who smelt like bloomed hyacinth and should be making a ruckus about a monster but was lifelessly dangling in the rogue Lycan arms.

James and Helen faced Jude and shared a look, it was obvious they had found the culprit. The hotel was owned by the Eclipse Pack and thus was warranted freely for every supernatural.

James gritted his teeth and bristled facing the high-ranking Lycan, Helen step forward placing a hand on his chest to calm him. Rogues never took kindly to threats. Jane stayed unruffled as always while she mostly looked bored but under the wraps of her hard exterior, she was alert of the new presence.

Helen gave a passive look to the unwelcomed arrival and stated stoically, “Gamma Adams, we thought we needed to report the incident but your arrival insinuates otherwise…” She gave him a tight smile fuelling the already suffocating atmosphere, “We’re expecting an excuse and explanation… if that’s not beneath the Eclipse Pack, of course.” She deliberately paused to taunt him.

Gamma Adams narrowed his eyes at the strange trio and turned his focus to the alluring presence in the Lycan’s arm. He extended his hand to touch the lifeless doll when the rogue Lycan growled a took step back.

Gamma Jude Adams's eyes snapped back to the Lycan in surprise. He raised both his eyes in wonderment as he then observed the defensive stance of the witch and even the Vampire was glaring at him.

They were protecting the human… Interesting.

Gamma Adams straightened and engulfed his hands in his pocket. “How wonderful! As the matter here is resolved, I will take my leave.” He was about to turn when he smirked and raised a finger, “Oh, Yes! You can expect compensation soon.” He turned around and ignored their heated stares like he had ignored the ‘excuse and explanation’ part.

They wanted to refute but it wasn’t their time and the place was the enemy’s territory. Without wasting another borrowed breath, they rushed out of the hotel trying to catch as much less attention as possible.
