I took a gulp of fresh wine before answering. “I was working in the Silver Moon pack when I met the alpha and he brought me here to train.”

There was so much more to the story but he didn’t need to know everything. Now knowing he was interested in me, I needed to keep the conversation as casual as possible.

“I’ve heard some rumors,” he said, his brows raised. “About you and the alpha being together.”

I felt my heart skip a beat and drained the rest of the wine in my glass, suddenly feeling nervous. I didn’t know how to respond to this and Victoria was too deep in her own conversation to save me.

“We are… we are just getting to know each other. He has done a lot for me and I am eternally grateful.”

Weather growled at my answer. She didn’t like it, wanting us to claim our mate but I couldn’t. At least not outright. There would come a time when I could shout Xander is my mate from the roof tops but until that day came, I needed to downplay everything. I didn’t want that kind of attention

An hour later, we arrived at the pack house. Xander had driven us home, only having one glass of wine. Victoria and I chatted the whole way, telling Xander all about our night. We also told him about training and he listened intently, making little comments along the way.It felt so good to have him home.Victoria stumbled from the car and Liam came out to help her inside. He wished us a good night before carrying his mate into the house. Victoria had continued drinking wine after I’d switched to water and gave me elicit details to the things she planned on doing with Liam tonight. She was hilarious and I was so glad she got to come out with me tonight. I knew she felt isolated and untrusting of females so it felt good to know she’d had a good time.Xander and I entered the pack house and he grabbed me a bottle of water from the kitchen fridge before following me up the stairs and to the wing where our bedrooms were. We stopped outside mine, where I opened the door and tugged him insi

The days without Xander went way too slow. Even though I got to speak with him both nights he was gone, it wasn’t enough. Weather was miserable in my head, though my moods matched hers. We were missing him and the hollow feeling in my chest wouldn’t go away until he got back.He was finally set to arrive tonight and I was counting down the seconds, that was until Micah told me their departure had been delayed and they wouldn’t be arriving until the morning. The news ruined my hopeful mood but I suffered through anyway. It was Friday and everyone was in high spirits, looking forward to the weekend. I put my all into training, using that as a perfect distraction from my sour mood.I tried not to take it out on anyone else but sometimes, that proved difficult. Even Kimberly, feeling I was not in the mood for her shit, kept far away from me those two days.On the bright side, training was going wonderfully. The women were all getting closer and closer to landing on a wolf and I was beyond

The drive to the Harvest Moon pack was a long one. We finally arrived after sundown and I couldn’t wait to get out and stretch my legs. The whole way here I thought about Raina, wishing she’d accepted a phone so I could text or call her.I could feel each mile between us, my heart and soul aching as the distance grew. Storm hated it as much as I did, wishing we were home with her instead of hours away.I shook off the feelings as I approached the pack house. Alpha Marcus’s mate, Vivianne, and their son Merrick with his pregnant mate Gracelyn were waiting out front for us. Merrick looked just like his father, with his auburn hair and green eyes. His mate was pretty with her strawberry blonde locks and looked like she was due to give birth any day.Standing beside Gracelyn was Madeline, Alpha Marcus and Luna Vivianne’s younger daughter. She had just turned of age a couple years ago and was watching me with a curious look, most likely wondering if I were her mate.I knew I wasn’t even be

I could feel Storm’s nerves. He hated the idea of Raina getting hurt but his faith in her overruled his fear. We waited until Raina gave us a nod before running towards her, watching as she flipped onto her hands and pushed up into the air, disappearing above our head. A second later, we felt her land on our back, wrapping her arms around our neck.Storm’s relief at her safety cascaded over our body. We knew she could do it, having watched her do this exact trick during her fight with Kimberly, but worrying about her was second nature to us now.We slowed down to a trot as we made our way back over to the elders, who looked pleased with Raina’s demonstration. They both had smiles on their faces which gave me hope. Having any of the elders on Raina’s side would help in potentially making her Luna. It was an idea I was thinking about more and more lately.Once we stopped, she slid off and handed Storm my clothes, which he took in his mouth before heading behind a nearby tree to change.

“Need help Kimberly?” I offered. I kept my voice low enough the others around wouldn’t hear. While I didn’t like the girl, I wasn’t going to humiliate her even more. She seemed more than capable of doing that herself. She shot me a menacing glare, like it was somehow my fault she couldn’t get it right. I rolled my eyes at her, but, against my better judgement, took a step closer.“Listen, I’m not trying to be an asshole. I just want to offer you some help but only if you want it.”Her honey blonde hair was plastered to her sweaty skin, messily sticking out of her ponytail. Her make up covered face was red from exertion and mascara was smeared under her eyes. For the first time since I met her, she didn’t look perfect.“Why would I accept help from you?” she sneered, baring her teeth. “You have no wolf yet you think you’re better than everyone because you can do a couple tricks. You belong at the carnival, not in this pack.”The whole group went silent behind me. Kimberly wasn’t quiet
