LUCIEN

Nothing prepared me for the rush of emotions I felt when I saw Lyra at the passageway. She had left her room and came… my heart did that stupid thing where it leaped for someone but I couldn't, I couldn't call out to her, not without figuring what this was about so I did the only reasonable thing. I ran. Quietly hoping that she wouldn't notice me but it was too bad that she did.

She muttered my name as if she didn't believe she would find me so easily and then my name tore from her mouth, not caring the fact that anyone might hear.

My steps quickened when I realized that she had actually seen me but she followed me. Of course she did, she was Lyra.

When I saw her running after me, i broke into a quick run, turning a corner and entering my room, locking the door against me.

My heart almost leaped out of my chest when I heard the knock on the door. Just how fast had she ran.

Her breaths came out unevenly and I wanted to open the door and take her in my arms, telling her about what I had seen and my fears but I couldn't, at least not now but she had to leave. I didn't want to think what would happen if Rowan found her here.

“Lucien,” She called, the name sounding like a curse in my ears, pricking at my very soul. I was holding onto my self control not to push out of the door right now. Her voice was soft and spoke to the dark part of my soul.

When I pulled away, my eyes caught the figure sitted at my sofa, legs crossed across each other. Cassien.

“What was he doing here?” My mind went blank for a moment. I had been avoiding him all day immediately I left Lyra's room so how…

The next words from Lyra broke my soul “I hate you,” She said in a broken voice and I could hear her footsteps receding. It was a good thing, she was gone at last but my vision went blurry. I tried holding onto anything I could find and my fingers dug into a strong back. Cassien.

“Lucien,” He called, picking me up and placing me on the bed.

“What's wrong with you?” I stayed silent, what was I supposed to say.

He sighed and placed his hand on my head. “You're not running a fever.” He heaved a sigh of relief and fell back into the sofa, not saying anything again.

My vision cleared and I raised my eyes to look at him, he was looking past me, staring at the door and I was sure he had heard Lyra's words.

He wasn't saying anything, wasn't looking at me or asking anything. I knew he had questions to ask but why?

The silence stretched out between us and I rubbed my fingers against my eyebrows. “Cassien,” I called and he raised his lazy eyes at me, there were blood shot and my chest tightened when I saw them. Had he been crying?

“What went wrong?” He finally asked.

“I…I…” What could I say? I lowered my eyes again, playing with my fingers.

Cassien stood up and walked up to me in the bed, sitting beside me. He leaned down and planted a kiss at my head. “I'm asking you, not as a brother but as your mate, what went wrong Lucien?” He asked and I gulped down violently. Why was he so hot? I checked myself immediately, this was not the time.

“We need to reject Lyra,” I said softly.

Cassien erupted into laughter before his eyes found me once again.

“Really?” He chuckled. “You couldn't even bear her telling you she hates you when you know it's not true and you want to reject her?” He raised an eyebrow and my face turned red.

“This isn't about us,” I said.

“Then what happened Lucien?” He was serious now. “What did you see, what did you hear?” He asked.

“If we continue this, something bad would happen,” I said and Cassien froze, eyes fixated on me.

“And?”

“When I entered into her earlier, her wolf was waiting for me and she told me this,” My voice became small. “She said that death awaited us if we continue this, she said that…” The feel of Cassien's lips on mine stopped my words.

“Lucien,” Cassien pulled away and cleaned the tears out of my face, tears I didn't know was rushing out. “We can do this,” He assured but I shook my head.

“She showed me clearly, not only she but you also, Cassien. You and Lyra died. It's better to stop this now than death. I… I wouldn't be able to continue,” I breathed out.

“No one is dying,” He patted my head in assurance.

I could still see the blood clearly, Cassien's mangled body lying dead under the moon. Lyra's lifeless body. I couldn't take that.

“Cassien…” I called again but he silenced me with a kiss. With a push, his lips disconnected from mine.

“Allow me talk,” I grumbled.

He frowned but didn't stop me again. “I'm telling you something very serious. I saw this and it was her wolf, why do you think her wolf would want to chase me away. We are her mates after all. I'm not lying and..”

“I didn't say you are lying,” Cassien cut in. “I just said we could make it work,” He added.

“How? How do you want to make it work. This is some kind of a prophecy,” I said.

“Prophecies can be changed Lucien,” He said. “We would make it work, that I'm sure of. Firstly, by apologizing to Lyra,” He said and I froze.

“She had said…”

“You know she didn't mean that,” Cassien said.

“Do you think she would understand?” I asked.

“I know she would.” Cassien replied.

LUCIEN My eyes swept over the room before I stepped out. As I turned a corner, I could feel Cassien's eyes on me. “What's wrong?” I asked. “You were hot back there,” He replied. “I'm always hot in your eyes,” I turned my gaze away from him. “Because you're my mate and you're hot,” He replied like it was the most normal thing on earth. “I know I'm your mate, you don't need to remind me every second,” I sighed. “Okay. What was I saying before? In as much as you were hot back there, that was reckless. You gave Marrock something to think about,” He said. “He can think about that all he want,” I hissed. “Daring, aren't you?” He scoffed and I smiled. “Lyra is waiting,” I said and he nodded before we both moved towards her room. LYRA The door to the room flung open and I raised my head to see Lucien and Cassien walk in. “How did it go?” I pushed myself up, moving away from Mira's embrace and into their way. “As good as it could get,” Lucien smiled and I let out a deep breath I

LYRA “What is wrong?” My eyes almost pulled out of the socket as I turned to Mira before my eyes flickered between Lucien and Cassien. “Nothing is wrong Luna,” Cassien assured and stood up, kissing me on my forehead. “Wait! You've to tell me why he's looking for you both,” I said and stood up too, blocking their path. “I don't know. He only search for us when he need us for something and he can't harm us Luna. There's nothing to be scared of,” Cassien said. “Are you sure?” “Very sure wild one,” Lucien leaned in and planted a kiss on my cheek. “Okay, you both should come back whole,” I stated. “Sure thing,” Lucien smiled and they both walked out of the room. “Would they be good?” I turned to Mira. “Yes. Even as I hate to admit, they are the royal twins after all and even more powerful than Rowan. He don't stand a chance against them,” She patted my shoulder and I leaned in onto her embrace. “It's alright,” She said. “How's Lucien now?” She asked and I chuckled. “He's fine.”

LYRA “Time to bath people,” Cassien jumped down from the bed, heading into the bathroom. “I'm fucking tired,” I scrunched my nose. “You smell of sex,” He rebutted. “What if Rowan visited your room and didn't find you there?” Lucien suddenly asked. “He wouldn't,” I replied confidently, twisting my lips. “And why are you so confident?” Cassien asked, sitting beside me. “It hadn't been long that he left,” I replied almost immediately without thinking before I slammed my hands over my lips. “He fucked you?” Lucien's voice was low, escaping as a growl. “That's not what I meant,” I explained immediately. “So what do you mean?” He asked. “I… I…” I stumbled over my words. “Don't put her on a spot Lucien, it's not like she asked for this. He's her…”“Her husband. I know Cassien but it still doesn't stop what I'm feeling, do you get?” He snapped at Cassien. “I'm sorry Lucien,” I pleaded, drawing closer to him. “Shit!” He cursed and stood up abruptly. “What's wrong?” I asked as he

LYRA It was as if the moon goddess was on our side as we saw no guards in the hallway. When we arrived Lucien's room, the door was locked from the inside. “Luc!” Cassien called hurriedly, only to be greeted with soft whimpers that could easily be overlooked. “Lucien,” He called again and the whimpers stopped as if the person just heard his name being called. “What are you doing?” The sound of glass breaking echoed over the silent hall and Cassien rolled his eyes. “This is it,” He muttered and threw his weight over the door, forcing it open. “What the hell,” I murmured as we walked in. Empty bottles of drinks littered the floor. The marble floor was decorated with drops of blood and Lucien was no where to found. “Lucien,” I yelled, pushing the bathroom door open. “He's not in there,” I said with a sigh and Cassien closed his eyes. “I don't know what he's thinking doing this stuff,” He said. “Doing what?” I asked. “He's trying to break the mate bond forcefully but since we wer

LYRA I curled over the bed, my hands clenching my chest as hot tears slid down my cheeks. I couldn't pinpoint what I had done. He had saw me and ran as if I was coming to kill him or as if even seeing me was an offense. A knock sounded on my door and I tensed before falling back into tears. “Come in,” I said in an half whisper, not caring if the person behind the door even heard me. The door flung open immediately and I stood up, bracing myself for Rowan when… Lucien stepped in, followed by Cassien. My eyes widened and I flew out of the bed before I froze. “Why was I acting hyperactive after what he had done?” So I raised my eyes to glance at him, trying my best to look unbothered while he walked in. His red and swollen eyes showed he had been crying but why? The question still sat on my chest. What had gone wrong? “Lyra,” He called, testing the waters. I didn't answer, just looked at him. “I'm…” Cassien's eyes darted towards the two of us and realized that we didn't have any
