Chapter 39: Does It Really Matter Anymore?

When I get her settled, I return to the door to talk with the security guards again and notice that there are only two of them who stayed.   Looking back and forth between them, I ask, “Where did everyone else go?”

They stare at each other and shrug before answering one at a time, “I don’t know.  I was watching the door and then they just walked off in a large group after they received a phone call.” Then Beta Timothy chimes in with, “Like he said, but I heard one of them say, “Well, he just called and said we can leave for the rest of the night.”

Concerned by this, I wonder who they were referring to.  I should be the only one they are taking orders from.  So, unless they are working for someone else, they must have thought that I called them.  How could that be?
