Chapter 18: Wedding Gift

“THEN PROVE it to me. I want Anthony Gutierrez. I heard you have him. I won’t ask why. But will you be willing to give him to me? I must believe in you first before my pack can believe you. Whether the wolves can trust you or not, I’ll be the judge of that,” I said without breaking the eye contact with Luther.

Whenever he was making this expression, his mate in me wanted to believe him. This man lies all the time. Lying just runs in their genes. But if he lies to me tonight, I will not go easy on him again the next time.

While waiting for Luther’s response, I don’t know why I was fidgety, why there was a part of me wishing that he would be honest this one time. It could be true that he was being shackled, too. And his answer tonight would prove whether he truly wanted to be free or he wanted to remain chained up.
