I tossed from side to side on my bed. I pulled the blankets over my head in a bid to cover my ears from the irritating noise. I could still hear it faintly. My eyelids fluttered open, and my hands reached around until I turned on the bedside lamp on the mahogany side table next to my bed frame. The room was neatly arranged and painted purple. It was my favourite colour. I trained my ears to check for the source of the noise. I saw it coming from the large window in my room.

I reluctantly got to my feet, dragging my tired legs clad in oversized pyjamas. I opened the window, waiting to yell at whoever was disturbing my sleep, not giving a second thought to the fact that it could be a dangerous person. “What do you w-”

“It is freezing out here, Iris! I have been knocking for hours.”

“Pfft!” I scrunched up my nose, “Couldn’t have been for more than two minutes. I’d know because you woke me up immediately.”

She frowned, “Can I come in now?”

I opened the window all the way up and moved

I placed my cutlery down on my empty plate and reached for the glass of wine that sat beside it. My eyes were on Theodore as I brought the cup to my lips and took a sip.He sat there watching me ever since he finished his dinner, a bright unwavering smile on his face as he intertwined his fingers and used them as a resting place for his chin.“Why do you keep looking at me like that?” I chuckled as I wiped my mouth with a tablecloth.“You’re just so beautiful, I wonder how I became the luckiest man in the world by just deciding to give you a ride that day.”I gave him a teasing smile as I leaned in closer to the table. “So, you mean you didn’t have any intention of asking me out when you picked me up?”He chuckled loudly. “Please, I mean yes. That was the reason I asked if you wanted a ride, but the minute you stepped into my car I already knew I had no shot.”“Well, that didn’t stop you, if I remember clearly, you were all sweet and shooting shots when we stopped by that restaurant.”

I sat in the back of my black Mercedes, my head laid back on the headrest we drove through the cool evening, and I watched bright city lights of diverse colors cast beautiful blurs on my window.Blackwater pack never slept, in fact, nighttime was when we were more active, enjoying parties, street food or like myself romantic dinners.I watched as a bunch of pups giggled as they raced past the street on their scooters, bumping into some passers-by and screaming their apologies through the exhilaration of their glee.I rolled down my window and let out a soft breath as the cool breeze wafted against the side of my face, the smell of fried meat and pastries dancing in the breeze, I inhaled deeply, wanting to capture the moment in my memory forever. The car made an easy turn, and we rode down an eerie, dark slope surrounded by bushes. I sat back in my car and peered ahead to where a gate sat with bright golden lights beaming from a distance. We reached the gate and the car slowed to a halt

I let out a deep sigh as my parent's laughter filled the room. I stared at my untouched plate of food. My parents spoiled me carelessly. It wouldn’t have taken them any minute to notice that I wasn’t eating if they weren't all over each other. My mum was telling the story of her trip all over again for the third time that evening. She had said it when she first arrived, again when she was helping lay out the table, and now when we were eating. I glanced at my father, who had a wide smile on his face as he was eating. I noticed his eyes never left her face, I had a feeling he wasn’t listening to any word she was saying. I stared at them for a moment. Would it be like this for me and Theodore? I shook my head visibly as if to dispel the thought in my head, but it lingered. I stabbed at the meatball repeatedly, my mind wandering off again. Theodore had left before I arrived, and it had hurt me a bit. Maybe I was the only one thinking about him. It wasn’t the mate bond or anything. It wa

IRIS I was sitting at the edge of my bed, happy and texting Theo. Tianah is here too, and we were supposed to be discussing and chatting, but I was so busy caught in the web of my sweetheart that I could barely even hear a word she was saying. "Hey!" Tianah snapped, and I could see her face go red as she stared at my phone and then at me. "Sorry," I apologized, I dropped the phone and directed my attention to her. "It's fine. Just tell me, how did it go?" She squeezed my hands tightly. "Guess?" "What, you know I'm bad at guessing, babe." She reminded me, and I rolled my eyes. "Fine, I'll tell you. So, my father agreed to my relationship with Theo." I blushed as Tianah's voice filled the whole room. "Oh my gosh, don't you dare lie to me?" "I'm not, and that's not all." I paused, staring as the curiosity on her face increased. "Just to remind you, young lady, my ears are itching!" She screamed. I laugh softly, pulling myself together before speaking. "My father wants to see h
