ログインCalian POVI rush out of the alpha house, Belgaire by my side, as I use the pack bond to locate Ame. The frenetic energy coursing through the pack leads me to feel the fear at the centre of the sensation, a group congregated by the east border. “Hold her there!” I command out through the pack link, picking up pace and pushing my wolf back to prevent him from shifting. Arriving in fur form will only escalate this situation further...or so I thought. I come to a sudden halt, skidding on the muddy ground as warriors push in on Ame already in her wolf form as she tries to escape through the border fence. I’ve seen her wolf countless times, trained her wolf….but the purple tinge to her fur takes me by surprise and her eyes, they aren’t just glowing as before they are no illuminous. Like the moon itself glowing from her eyes. An electric blue trying to force its way out from the purple, an uncontrollable rage fighting from within. Blood is on her teeth as a warrior lies beneath her leg
Calian POV I reach the alpha house to find a group of warriors congregated in a circle, around someone. Tensions are high, teeth are flashing out in warning. It could only be Belgaire, he had a way of riling up my warriors…thinking he had a level of authority here. “I’ll kill them all Calian…don’t test me.” He growls out to me in warning, any humour removed from his usual demeanour. He means his threat; he would kill them without a second thought. “Stand down.” I order out to my warriors, pushing through the circle to find Belgaire in the middle, his shoulders hunched forward as he rolls on the tip of his feet…waiting to pounce. One by one my warriors stand down, their eyes watching Belgaire without trust as they slowly turn their backs on him and walk away. They are right not to trust him, Belgaire is always ready to take advantage…his presence here now testament to that. “What are you doing here?” I move into my house, charging down the hallway towards my office…staff leaping
Ame POV “Are you going to kill me Alpha?” My voice echoes against the cold damp cell walls. There isn’t even a blanket to help warm my body. I’m completely beyond freezing cold. To the point that my blood is starting to warm me back up, my muscles becoming fizzy as I slowly lose power over them. “I haven’t decided yet.” “Yes, you have.” “I have?” “Why do you think I haven’t touched the food, laced with wolfsbane…just like my teddy five years ago.” I whisper out, menacingly looking through him with hooded eyelids. He turns to look at the untouched food and water, before his eyes take on a glazed look as he enters a mind link. His dark brown eyes move back into focus, the mind link cutting. He slowly stands up from the chair, reaching down for the tray of food. He surprises me as he at first picks up the cup of water, taking a sip before placing it back down. Then, he picks up a piece of cold toast, taking a bite down on it. No convulsing, no foaming at the mouth…if he had orde
Calian POV The postmortem has now confirmed what I already knew…that Garrett died from a broken neck.He wasn’t my first-choice beta replacement, but Dessa pushed for him, and he was from a strong lineage of warriors. My previous beta had served me until his retirement a year after Ame escaped the pack. His announcement had been unexpected, he hadn’t yet been of retirement age, but he wanted to spend more time with his family. Which resulted in Dessa suggesting Garrett for the position.I wasn’t the closest with Garrett by any means, but his death still left a gaping hole in the pack bond…the pack link growing increasingly anxious from his loss. The pack has lost a senior member protector; it would shake even the strongest of packs..“Why here, why were they here at this exact spot?” I call out to my wolf side as I crouch down running my hands against the long grass at the north post area. This place was far away from central reservation, why would they have both been here.Ame, e
Belgaire POV She’s miles away and I have a forming rogue army threatening to bang down my front door, yet she still invades my mind. Taking full control of me. I’m waiting for Logan to return with the results but at this point it is only a matter of evidence in my hand. I already know the truth…I just can’t believe Calian would have done something like this to her. That he would have betrayed her in such a way. All because he wanted his fated mate by his side, a fated mate that unbeknown to him is a rogue.I feel sick…gut achingly sick to think that Dessa has been raising a child for the five years that isn’t even hers. That Calian stole his own child off his wife to raise with his fated mate. Then poisoned her to hide the truth…that to him status is king. That status is all that matters. That having a child with his fated mate would make him and his pack more powerful in the eyes of the shifter community. Make him unbreakable.I walked away, I thought he would look after Ame…eve
Balgaire POV “Here are the files you asked for Alpha.” Logan walks into the kitchen, placing the folders we would have kept on file from Dessa before she left the Savage Fangs pack to become a rogue. “Thanks Logan.” “Fruit bowl really?” He quirks an eyebrow at me for the bowl of fruit placed in front of me by Laura, the head of the household staff. “The bacon is on its way. ” She clicks her tongue out at him, shaking her head in disbelief as she checks on the rest of the breakfast…currently still cooking. A smile breaks out on my lips, better him than me to get on the wrong side of her. Especially first thing in the morning. “See that’s why I love you Laura and why I keep you around.” I coo out to her playfully as she turns to swot a tea towel in the air at me. Laura is like a mother figure to me, always a constant in the household and never one to be afraid to voice her opinions. Or cast a disapproving eye on the females that had historically stayed overnight and dare to remai
Ame POV The arguing around me is deafening. Dessa screaming like a banshee at Calian to escort me off their lands, Calian making accusations at Balgaire…Balgaire defending me. We are stuck together in a compact waiting area, the doctors refusing to let Dessa and Calian anywhere near the emergenc
Ame POV The moment I walk into the alpha house, I can feel memories trying to take control. It is different, designed definitely…I suppose his true luna has different tastes. I have mixed emotions as my heels sound out along the wooden floor of the hallway, this place had been my home…there wasn’t
Ame POV “I’ve been looking for you.” She finally continues, taking a step closer, her eyes flickering between the both of us. She’ll deny it but she will have felt the tension around us, the charged space that carried an oppressive weight to it. Thunderclaps just waiting to explode. “What is go
Ame POV “Wow, that really does look like me.” “Children and their imagination.” Dessa mutters out as she pushes her empty plate away from her. She reaches for the wine bottle, pouring her empty glass to the rim. “But that’s not me, I don’t have wings.” I wink out at him, his face lifting back up
