I should have refused. I should have denied being his doctor. Yet, I allowed him to take my hand and lead me to his room.

It was spacious, with a pristine white interior. A large king-sized bed, draped in a white bedspread. The bed had over eight pillows on it.

Behind me was a vast glass window, not the sliding kind, but one that was bolted shut. Outside, not far on the hill, stood the castle—a castle I had been to, one that had almost broken me. And just below it lay the loch.

The view from his room, from his window, was spectacular. The wind whiffed into the room, and the few strands of hair Willa had left loose framing my face flew to the back.

I turned slowly, my eyes unable to settle on one spot as they roamed the room. The brown linoleum floor felt smooth beneath my feet. Across from the bed was a large flat-screen TV and a white fluffy couch adorned with pillows, much like the one in my room, though mine was brown.

The devil in her needed to be beaten out with more than just thirty strokes. The whole thing started with her. She needed more than this.
