The shock in the blonde's gaze got replaced by fear and she started to head back out, but was quickly pushed in by another, much shorter girl. The brunette closed the door behind her and shot me a stink eye. I drew back, my brows shooting up.

The first girl spoke in hushed tones, sounding panicked, "Syb, why didn't you tell me the witch was here already..."

The second girl didn't mute down her words, but spoke loudly, obviously for my hearing, "Would it matter? The bat is leashed. She won't be able to harm us."

A hairbrush had never looked so much like a weapon to me.

I stood, and both their gazes snapped towards me, trailing my movements as I went over to my narrow bed, sitting. A stiffness overcame the atmosphere. Some part of me felt like turning and yelling, 'boo!' If anything to see the frightened looks on their faces.

But I just laid on my side and waited for sleep to come, a part of me dreading tomorrow.
