We walk closer to the scent as quietly as we can. It is just as we thought. It is a rotting corpse. It has been eaten though. By the teeth marks we would say it is a wolf. Can’t tell by the rotting corpse what the wolf was. A real one or a rogue. We did not find this corpse very far from the border and looked back at Gix. He started to move closer too.

He smelled the corpse and looked around. Wonder if he is thinking the same as we do. We moved a bit away from the corpse and sniffed the ground to get scents around the corpse. There it is, the rogue scent of a rogue nearby.

It has not started to fade. The rogue has been back to his kill recently. We looked at Gix and he growled. The rest started to go back on the path we followed. Troy and his son joined us. The prey is left in a small clearing. About ten meters from where we are standing and where the treeline opposite us begins again. Why is there a rogue this close to this border?
