Chapter Nine

Kazia

Iris kept regarding me with a mixture of curiosity and concern, with her eyes searching mine for answers as we stood in the corridor of the Pet's quarters.

"So what brought you out of your room, Kazia?" Iris inquired, her voice laced with genuine curiosity.

"I thought you weren't feeling well and I honestly wasn’t expecting to catch you out here, roaming when you should be resting up," she added.

A soft sigh escaped my lips as I leaned against the wall, seeking a momentary respite from the weight of my own thoughts. "I was feeling rather bored, Lady Iris. Being cooped up in that room, isolated from the world and even proper sunlight, was driving me to the brink of madness. I needed some fresh air to get myself together again and I also wanted to take it as a chance to explore this palace and know my way around," I explained.
