Chapter Sixteen

As Jason and I ate, the discussions surrounding us became a symphony of voices, each person's voice lost in the noise of the restaurant. Amidst the noise, a group of men at a nearby table drew our attention. Their loud laughing and seemingly passionate discussion invaded our quietness, and it also kinf of piqued our interest since we had nothing better to do for now.

I exchanged a knowing look with Jason, considering there might be something important worth hearing. We moved in closer, seeming to be casually interested while quietly listening in on their talk. Their voices cut through the noise of the restaurant, with their words becoming clearer with each passing instant.

"...and can you believe it? Our mate Greg is working in the palace now," one of the men boasted, a note of pride lacing his voice. "Lucky bastard, I tell ya. He's got it made."
