AKIRA’s POV.

I pace back and forth in the cold, dungeon, my footsteps subconsciously counted by the voice in my head. Days have passed since I was thrown in here, and I've lost count of how long I've been in this dark hole. The only light comes from a small torch when the guards do their daily round of patrol down here in this hell hole.

I feel helpless and trapped down here, my mind racing with thoughts of escape. But every time I approach the door of my dungeon, I hear the guard’s laughter and mocking comments. They're too vigilant, too alert. I know I can't take them on alone.

I stopped pacing and leaned against the wall, my head in my hands. Why did I have to cross Kael? Why did I have to refuse his offer? I know I'm an omega, and I know my place in this pack. But I can't help feeling like I'm meant for more. Why would all omegas be forced to be breeders? We can stand up for ourselves too.

I think back to my time in the pack, to the moments when I felt alive, when I felt I was m

Akira’s POV.I was sitting in the breeding chamber, trying to rest, when I overheard the guards talking. "Did you hear? Keiran's back," one of them said, their voice low as they did their daily patrols in the breeding chambers. My ears stood up, and I turned to the other breeders. "Who's Keiran?" I asked, trying to sound nonchalant. One of the breeders, a tall, blonde wolf named Sophia, looked at me with her face pale, and fear in her eyes. "Keiran is Kael's brother," she said. "He was banished from the pack years ago for trying to overthrow Kael."I felt a chill run down my spine. "What? Why would he do that?"Sophia leaned in, her eyes darting towards the door and then back at me. "Keiran always thought he should be alpha, not Kael. He's mean, harsh, and ruthless."The other breeders nodded in agreement, each wolf clutching the hem of their dress. "He's not someone to be trifled with," one of them said. "If he's back, it's not good news for any of us." If Keiran was back, it could

Akira’s POV.I stood outside Kael's office, my heart racing with anxiety and excitement. I had rehearsed my proposal a thousand times. I spent the last week going through the pack’s archive hoping to find something I can use in convincing Kael to see things from my point of view and work with me.I took a deep breath and knocked on the door."Akira," Kael said, his voice low and unusually gentle. "Come in."I entered the office, my eyes meeting with Kael's. He sat behind his desk, his long jet-black hair covering half of his face, his pink lips looked tantalizing and I desperately yearned to kiss him till all he can say is my name. But for now, I came here to ally."So, Akira," he said, as he used a rubber band to tie his hair up. "I hear you have a proposal for me."I nodded, my voice steady despite the heat spreading across my body. "Yes, Kael. I want to help you defeat Keiran."Kael raised an eyebrow. "And what do you want in return?"I took a deep breath. "Freedom, respect as a

Kael’s POV.I sat behind my desk, my eyes fixed on Akira as she entered the room. She looked like she just heard something that made her nervous, it was evident from the beads of sweat on her forehead."Akira," I said, my voice low. "I see you've made your decision."She nodded, her gaze matching mine. "Yes, Kael. I've decided to accept your proposal."I raised an eyebrow, but not surprised, I knew she would eventually come back, but for now, let’s play some games. "Really? I thought you'd be more hesitant."Akira took a deep breath. "I was, at first. But then I realized that this contract might be beneficial to the both of us and I would be stupid to let this slip through my fingers. I want to be your mate and Luna, and I want to help you lead the pack."I leaned back in my chair, tapping my index finger on my cheek. "I like your spirit, Akira. But let me make one thing clear: being my mate and Luna won't be easy. There will be pressure from the council, and there will be challenges

Keiran’s POV.I sat in the shadows, my eyes fixed on my partner, Kaida. We were in a secluded spot, far from the eyes and ears of third and unwanted parties. Our mission was clear: to bring down Kael and Akira, and take my rightful place as leader and for Kaida, getting back at the witch who killed her mother with black magic."Kaida, we need to be smart about this," I said, my voice low but audible. "We can't just barge in and start causing chaos. We need a plan. I know my brother, he is not a man you would want to trifle with.”Kaida nodded, her eyes shining with excitement. "I've been thinking about that, Keiran. And I have a few ideas."I leaned in, my ears up. "Let's hear them."Kaida smiled, a mischievous look in her eye. "First, we spread rumors. We tell the pack that Akira is weak, that she's not fit to be Luna. We tell them that Kael is blind to her flaws and that he's making a mistake by trusting her. There should be some pack laws we can use to our advantage too, laws that

Kaida’s POVI stood tall, my eyes locked on Akira as she approached us. Keiran stood beside me, a smirk on his face.My heart burned with rage. This is the second time this bitch is coming face to face with me after killing my mother and I was not allowed to rip her head off her neck! But there are ways to hurt her before the grand finale I planned for her."Akira," I said, my voice dripping with mockery and hate. "How nice of you to join us."Akira's eyes narrowed and she took a step forward. "Kaida, Keiran, I know what you've been doing. I know you're behind the rumors, the stolen food, and the vandalism. We had this talk last time and clearly, you are not stopping anytime soon are you ?”I raised an eyebrow, deciding to mess with her. "Whatever are you talking about, Akira?"Akira's eyes blazed with anger and it left me with a happy thrill inside of me. "Don't play dumb, Kaida. I have proof, unlike last time . And I'm going to expose you to the pack."I laughed, a cold, mirthless

Kael’s POV. I sat at the head of the Council table, my eyes scanning the faces of the council members. The tension in the air was palpable, and I knew I was in for a long session."So, Kael," Councilor Aurora began, her voice. "It seems your pack is in shambles. Food is going missing, property is being vandalized, and your members are at each other's throats. What do you have to say for yourself?"I took a deep breath, trying to remain calm. "I understand the concerns, Councilor. But I assure you, I am doing everything in my power to rectify the situation."Councilor Orion snorted. "Rectify the situation? Do you mean like you rectified the situation with your last breeder? The one who mysteriously disappeared?"I gritted my teeth, my temper rising, this old man knows just how to get on my nerves. "That was a different situation, Councilor. And I assure you, I had nothing to do with her disappearance."Councilor Lila raised an eyebrow. "Save it, Kael. We're not buying it. You're inca

AKIRA’s POV. "Kael, I need to tell you something," I said, looking him right in the eye. "Not now, Akira," he growled, not even looking at me. I was thrown off guard by how quickly he changed, a few days ago he was on my neck demanding I tell him what I have been up to and now that I am here to tell him, he does not want to hear. “Hell no, you must hear.” The voice in my head hissed. "It can't wait," I insisted, trying to keep my voice calm. Kael stopped pacing and turned to face me, his eyes blazing with rage. "What is it?" "I've been investigating the sabotage and the things that suddenly seem to be going south in the pack," I began, trying to choose my words carefully. "I don't have time for this," Kael snapped, turning away from me. Then he turned to look at me before he shook his head and closed away. “I think that is your cue to continue talking… his ego is not interested but I think he is.” The voice in my head purred words of encouragement. ALPHA KAEL’s POV.I paced back and forth in my office, trying to calm my racing mind. Akira had just left, and I couldn't shake off the guilt that clawed at me with each passing second. She didn't understand, she never did. She thought I was being stubborn and rude, but she had no idea what was at stake.Just as I was starting to calm down, Zephyr walked in, his brows furrowed in concern. "Kael, what's going on? Akira looked like she'd been through a war."I stopped pacing and turned to face him. "She doesn't get it, Zeph. She thinks I'm being rude and nonchalant, she called me a tyrant, but I know Keiran is playing a game. And Akira...she's too bold, too reckless. She doesn't know when to back down."Zephyr's expression turned thoughtful. "You're worried about her safety."I nodded. "Yes, I am. Keiran will stop at nothing to get what he wants, and Akira...she's too innocent and sometimes she does not think shit through before she does it. She thinks everyone is as innocent as she is.

Akira's POVThe next morning, the sun was already high, but the weight in my chest had not gone away. I stood by the window, observing outside as the pack guards marched in and out of the courtyard. I saw Kael outside giving commands, his voice sharp and crisp. But I knew better, his sharpness was just external. Deep down, he was carrying too much. After last night's conversation, I didn't sleep well. I kept wondering about Zephyr, how quiet he had been recently, how cautious. Too cautious. Last night's surprise appearance by him after our conversation was no accident. He was observing.A soft knock pulled me out of my thoughts."Come in," I replied.Sheila-one of the maids-arrived with a tray of food. Her eyes scanned over me rapidly, as though she sensed my nervousness. "Are you okay?” I noticed you didn't come down for breakfast,” she said quietly. “I thought you'd be famished.”"Thanks," I responded, not feeling like eating. She put the tray down and waited. Akira’s POVThe weight on the room seemed to press heavily on me as I stood opposite Kael, his intense gaze piercing into me as he tried to read my thoughts. I felt uncomfortable for what I was about to say as I had struggled to confront Kael with it since I started thinking about it but at this point, I seem to be left with no choice. It wasn't just about me surviving anymore, it was about Kael's survival, and the entire pack's."It's about Zephyr."Kael's eyebrow went up, his expression going from bland to interested, but there was something in his eyes—something reserved. "What about him, Akira?" His voice was low, but I could feel under it the underlying frustration, the sense of urgency he usually reserved for problems that threatened the pack.I could feel my stomach form knots. The words were too risky to spit out, and I wasn't sure that I was ready to be burdened with them. But I was. For myself, for Kael, and for the benefit of everyone who had trusted in me."Well, I kind o

AKIRA’s POV.I paced back and forth in Kael's private chambers, frustration threatening to consume me.“F^^k it.” I cursed, pulling my hair.First, the search at Keiran's place yielded nothing. And now, Keiran was closer to being proven innocent. Which meant more trouble for me.“Why the f^^k is this happening to me?”All the evidence pointed to me, but I knew I didn't kill Kaida. Yet, Keiran wouldn't rest until I was killed. I couldn't understand why he hated me so much. What have I done to deserve this?“Maybe it is because you repeatedly promised to stop him from being the alpha of this pack, so he is teaching you a lesson on how to keep your nose on your face and out of other people’s business.” A voice in my head scorned.Or was he doing this to distract the pack from a bigger game he was playing in the shadows? I wouldn't put it past him. Keiran was cunning, always thinking several steps ahead. But what could he be planning? And why involve me in it?I stopped pacing and looked

Keiran’s POV. I stood up from the couch, my eyes fixed on the guards as they searched my house. My anxiety only got worse with each passing second. After Kael left, the guards seemed to double their efforts. I knew I had hidden all the things that would be of help to them, but I still could not help the fear that slowly took hold of me. What if they found something that I carelessly left? And why did Kael have to excuse himself for some time? Where did he go? I thought back to the moment Kael entered my quarters, his eyes scanning the room as if he knew what he was searching for. But what did it mean to him? And why did he have to speak with Akira afterward? In private, no less. My mind raced with questions, each one more unsettling than the last. I didn't like being in the dark, not when it came to things that affected me directly. And this... this was something big. Why would Kael side with me and refuse to search Zephyr only for him to give an order that I should

KAEL’s POV.“None of your business.” I hissed at Keiran and turned to leave his quarters. “Where to my king?” A guard who escorted me asked.“Miya’s,” I replied. Seconds turned into minutes and soon the chariot stopped in front of Lyra’s house.“You can go back,” I said dismissing the guard, who bowed his head and turned to leave.I knocked on the door, and a soft voice called out, "Enter." I pushed open the door and stepped inside. Miya’s house was dimly lit, the air filled with the scent of herbs and smoke."Kael, what brings you here?" Miya asked, her eyes gleaming in the dim light. She sat behind a cluttered desk, surrounded by strange objects, carvings and a pot situated in a corner of the room sizzled and hissed."The murder case," I replied, taking a seat across from her. I pulled out the picture from my pocket and placed it on the desk. "I need your help on this."Miya's expression turned serious as she picked up the picture. "A photograph... of Kaida." Her eyes scann

“Only one way to find out,” I replied as I led Akira out of the chambers and took her to Keiran’s quarters.I stood outside Keiran's quarters, my eyes scanning the area. The toughest guards in the pack surrounded the building, their faces stern. Zephyr and Akira stood next to me, their eyes fixed on the entrance. The council members stood behind us, their whispers and murmurs reaching my ears"Let's get this over with," I said, pushing open the door.Keiran walked in and sat on a couch, his eyes blazing with anger. "This is a waste of time, Kael. You won't find anything. You are wasting time.”I ignored him, my eyes scanning the room. "Search every inch of this place. Leave nothing untouched. Check everywhere and the minute anything is found, bring it to me.”The guards moved swiftly, their hands searching every corner. As the search began, my mind drifted back to the events that led us here. Akira's accusations, Zephyr's suspicions, and Keiran's weird behavior. Somethi

AKIRA’s POV. I stood my ground, my heart racing with frustration. "Search Zephyr," I demanded, my voice firm. "He's always lurking around when the juicy things happen, and I don't trust him. I want him to be searched.” Keiran sneered at me. "You can't just accuse someone without evidence, Akira. Zephyr has served this pack faithfully for years. He's earned our trust. And you are just a little lady who came in barely months ago and you want us to suspect our own for an outsider?” "I don't care about his past," I snapped. "I care about what's happening now. And I think Zephyr knows more than he's letting on. After all, he did claim to see the dagger in my room?” Kael stepped forward, his voice calm. "Akira, I understand your concerns, but Keiran is right. We can't just search Zephyr without a good reason. We need concrete evidence before we take such drastic measures. He holds a responsible position in this pack and I am afraid such an accusation or demeaning act such as searchi

"Zephyr has already told us what he saw," he said. "Akira and Kaida arguing just hours before Kaida's body was found." I turned to Zephyr. "I want to hear it from him again," I said. "Zephyr, tell me exactly what you saw." Zephyr nodded, his face void of any emotion. "I saw them arguing at the back of Akira’s quarters," he said. "Akira was furious, and Kaida was... well, Kaida was being her usual self mad and taunting.” I raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?" Zephyr cleared his throat before he spoke again. "You know how Kaida was, always causing trouble and arguing with Akira. But Akira... she was different. She was angry, but she was also agitated." I frowned, intrigued. " agitated or scared ?" AKIRA’s POV. I sat on the edge of Kael's bed, my mind reeling with thoughts. How did things go so wrong? One moment, I was defending myself against Kaida's harsh words and accusations, and the next, I was accused of murdering her. I knew I was innocent, but no one seemed to believe me. I massaged my temples, trying to get rid of the headache that was coming. I had been in a trance-like state, and when I finally woke up, I was accused of being a murderer. I didn’t even step out of my room that day, then how can I possibly kill her? The last time we met, we argued about the wrongs she and Keiran were doing but I did not kill her! "Akira, you need to eat," Kael said, his voice soft and gentle. He placed a tray of food in front of me, but I pushed it away. "I'm not hungry," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. Kael sighed and sat down beside me. "You need to keep your strength up. You don't know what's going to happen next. The council has some dumbasses that are after
