AKIRA’s POV.

I opened my eyes to find myself in the dark, dungeon. The offensive stench of waste and decay filled my nostrils. I tried to sit up, but a sharp pain went through my head, making me wince and close my eyes:

"Akira, you're a disgrace!" Kaida's voice echoed in my head, followed by the sound of the dungeon door slamming shut.

I slowly got up, my body aching from the emotional adulation I suffered before I was thrown here. I stumbled towards the door, pounding the door with my fist.

"Kaida, please! Let me out! I'll try again, I promise!"

The only response was silence. No one was there to listen to me.

I slumped against the door, tears rushing down my face. Why was Kaida doing this to me? I had always been a loyal member of the pack, dedicated to healing and helping others. Everyone in the pack had always come to me, why this harsh treatment.

The sound of footsteps outside my cell made me look up. The door was flung open, and a figure entered.

"Akira, you're wanted in the infirmary," one of the pack's guards said, his eyes filled with hate as he glared at me.

I stumbled out of the cell, my legs shaking. What did they want me to do now? Try to heal Lyra again, only to fail and face more punishment.

As I entered the infirmary, I saw Lyra's frail form on the bed, her eyes deep in their sockets and her skin pale. Kaida stood beside her, a frown on her face.

"Akira, you're supposed to be our pack's healer," Kaida sneered. "But you can't even save one of our own. What good are you? Useless omega.”

I felt a surge of anger and frustration, but I bit back my rage. I knew it wouldn't do any good to argue with Kaida in her current mood.

"I'll try again," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "I won't give up on Lyra."

Kaida scoffed. "You'd better not. If she dies, so do you."

I felt a chill run down my spine at her words, but I refused to back down. I approached Lyra's bedside, taking her hand in mine. I closed my eyes, focusing on my healing energy. But as I reached out to Lyra, I felt a strange resistance from her side. It was as if her body was rejecting my attempts to heal her.

I opened my eyes to find Kaida glaring at me. "What's wrong, Akira? Can't even manage a simple healing?"

I gritted my teeth, trying to think of a solution. But before I could try again, Lyra's body began to convulse. Her eyes rolled back in her head, and saliva began to come out of her mouth.

"Lyra, no!" I cried, holding her down as she thrashed around on the bed.

Kaida walked over, her face contorted with rage. "You're making her worse, Akira! Get out! Get out of my sight!"

The guards dragged me away, throwing me back into the dungeon. I landed hard on the floor, I was left all alone again.

As I lay there, I realized that Kaida was right. I was a failure as a healer. And if I didn't find a way to save Lyra, I would pay the ultimate price. The previous alpha had tried her best to make sure I learned the ways of healing, something that would help me add value to the pack. But Lyra’s cause was difficult.

But I refused to give up. I thought back to all my training, and all my knowledge of healing. There had to be a way to save Lyra. And I was determined to find it.

With determination, I began to think, to reason, to search for a solution. And as I did, a bit of hope began to come to life within me.

Maybe, just maybe, I could still save Lyra. And myself.

As I lay on the cold floor, I began to think back to my training. I remembered a lesson from my mentor, a wise old healer named Elara. She had taught me about the importance of balance in healing, and how the body and the mind need to be one for the healing to be a success.

I realized that I had been so focused on Lyra's physical wounds that I had neglected her spiritual and emotional health. I remembered a technique Elara had taught me, a way of using my energy to balance the patient's.

I closed my eyes and tried to use an ancient way of healing. l tried very hard to concentrate and eventually, I was able to get into her mind.

But just as I thought I had succeeded, a loud growl echoed through the dungeon. The sound sent chills down my spine. I opened my eyes to see Kaida standing in the doorway, her eyes blazing with rage.

"Akira, you're a monster!" she snarled. "You're using dark magic to heal Lyra!"

I protested, but Kaida wouldn't listen. She summoned the guards, and they dragged me away, deeper into the dungeon.

As they threw me into a dark cell, I realized that I was in grave danger. Kaida had condemned me as a witch, and I knew that the punishment for such a crime was death, either by hanging or being burnt alive.

But I refused to give up. I knew that I had to find a way to clear my name, to prove that my healing was genuine.

And so, I waited in the darkness, my mind racing with thoughts of escape and how to justify my actions. But as I waited, I heard a faint whisper in my ear.

"Akira, help me. Please." The voice said, echoing in my head.

It was Lyra's voice, weak. I smiled in the darkness, hope, there was still hope.

I would find a way to save Lyra, and myself. No matter what it took.

But just as I thought I had hope left, the cell door creaked open. A figure stood in the doorway, its eyes glowing with a red light.

"Akira…” the voice called out.

“Who are you!”

  • The Lycan King’s Breeder   Chapter Two: Heavy is the head that wears the Crown

KAEL’s POV. I sat on my throne, my eyes scanning the faces of the wolves seater in front of me. My pack gathered before me, their faces filled with fear and respect. I leaned forward, my voice low and menacing. "Any weakness will be dealt with swiftly. I will not tolerate disobedience." My gaze was on a young wolf, cowering in the corner. "You, Ryker, have failed me for the last time. You're banished from the pack." I watched as Ryker brought his hands together, as a sign of him begging me, but I showed no mercy. I signaled to my guards, who dragged him away. After each wolf went to his den, my beta, Zephyr, approached me. "Kael, may I have a word?" I nodded, and Zephyr came near. "What is it, Zeph?" "Your brother, Kieran... he's growing stronger. His pack is expanding, and his influence is spreading." My eyes narrowed. "What are you saying, Zeph?" Zephyr's voice was low and measured. "I'm saying that Kieran is a threat to your rule, to our pack's safety. He's ruthless, Kael,

  • The Lycan King’s Breeder   Chapter Three: Failure

Akira’s pov.I stood before Kaida, my head bowed in shame. I could feel her anger and grief, she had just lost her mother. I knew I had failed, and I couldn't blame her for blaming me."Akira, you failed," Kaida spat, her voice filled with venom . "Lyra is dead, and it's all your fault."I felt a lump form in my throat as her words sunk in me. I knew I had done everything I could, but it hadn't been enough. I had tried to heal Lyra, to save her, but my efforts had been in vain."I'm sorry, Kaida," I whispered, my voice trembling. "I didn't mean for this to happen."Kaida's expression turned even angrier. "Sorry? Sorry isn't enough, Akira. You're a disgrace to our pack. You're supposed to be our healer, our savior. But instead, you're a failure. You killed her!” I felt tears gather at the corners of my eyes as Kaida's verbal thrashing continued. I knew I didn't deserve this, but I also knew that Kaida was sad and upset. “You… you killed my sister with your black magic! I saw you… you

Kael's POV:I sat on my throne, my eyes fixed on Zephyr as he approached me. His expression was serious, and I could tell something was wrong. "What is it, Zeph?" I asked, my voice firm."Aria has requested to leave the pack," he said, his voice low.My eyes narrowed. "What? Why would she want to leave?"Zephyr shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "She's unhappy with your rule, Kael. She thinks you're too harsh and demanding."My face became dark with rage. How dare she question my leadership? I am the alpha, and my decisions are final."I'm the alpha, it's my job to make tough decisions," I growled. "I can't have weak members in my pack."Zephyr sighed. "I understand, Kael, but Aria is a valuable member. We need her skills to survive. She is a fertile one.”I waved my hand. "I'll find a new breeder, one who is loyal and obedient. Aria is no longer welcome in this pack."Zephyr nodded, but I could see the disapproval in his eyes. I didn't care. I am the alpha, and my word is law. Besid

AKIRA’s POV.I stood in the dark room, my heart racing with anxiety. Ryker's pack members surrounded me, their eyes fixed on me like I was prey."Akira," Ryker's voice was smooth. "You've been chosen for a great honor. You're going to be a peace offering to Kael's pack."I felt a chill run down my spine. "What do you mean?" I tried to keep my voice steady, despite the turmoil inside of me.Ryker smiled. "You'll be going to Kael's pack as a breeder. You'll help strengthen the bond between our packs and ensure peace. Consider it your way out of killing Lyra.” I shook my head, horror resting on me. "No. No way. I won't do it."Ryker's smile grew wider. "You don't have a choice. You're a symbol of our good intentions. And you'll do as you're told."I gritted my teeth in annoyance. I knew I had to think fast, or I'd be trapped in a life I didn't want. But for now, I was at Ryker's mercy. And I knew he had none.I took a step back, my eyes blazing with rage. "I won't do it," I repeated, my

AKIRA’s POV.I pace back and forth in the cold, dungeon, my footsteps subconsciously counted by the voice in my head. Days have passed since I was thrown in here, and I've lost count of how long I've been in this dark hole. The only light comes from a small torch when the guards do their daily round of patrol down here in this hell hole. I feel helpless and trapped down here, my mind racing with thoughts of escape. But every time I approach the door of my dungeon, I hear the guard’s laughter and mocking comments. They're too vigilant, too alert. I know I can't take them on alone.I stopped pacing and leaned against the wall, my head in my hands. Why did I have to cross Kael? Why did I have to refuse his offer? I know I'm an omega, and I know my place in this pack. But I can't help feeling like I'm meant for more. Why would all omegas be forced to be breeders? We can stand up for ourselves too.I think back to my time in the pack, to the moments when I felt alive, when I felt I was m

Akira’s POV.I was sitting in the breeding chamber, trying to rest, when I overheard the guards talking. "Did you hear? Keiran's back," one of them said, their voice low as they did their daily patrols in the breeding chambers. My ears stood up, and I turned to the other breeders. "Who's Keiran?" I asked, trying to sound nonchalant. One of the breeders, a tall, blonde wolf named Sophia, looked at me with her face pale, and fear in her eyes. "Keiran is Kael's brother," she said. "He was banished from the pack years ago for trying to overthrow Kael."I felt a chill run down my spine. "What? Why would he do that?"Sophia leaned in, her eyes darting towards the door and then back at me. "Keiran always thought he should be alpha, not Kael. He's mean, harsh, and ruthless."The other breeders nodded in agreement, each wolf clutching the hem of their dress. "He's not someone to be trifled with," one of them said. "If he's back, it's not good news for any of us." If Keiran was back, it could

Akira’s POV.I stood outside Kael's office, my heart racing with anxiety and excitement. I had rehearsed my proposal a thousand times. I spent the last week going through the pack’s archive hoping to find something I can use in convincing Kael to see things from my point of view and work with me.I took a deep breath and knocked on the door."Akira," Kael said, his voice low and unusually gentle. "Come in."I entered the office, my eyes meeting with Kael's. He sat behind his desk, his long jet-black hair covering half of his face, his pink lips looked tantalizing and I desperately yearned to kiss him till all he can say is my name. But for now, I came here to ally."So, Akira," he said, as he used a rubber band to tie his hair up. "I hear you have a proposal for me."I nodded, my voice steady despite the heat spreading across my body. "Yes, Kael. I want to help you defeat Keiran."Kael raised an eyebrow. "And what do you want in return?"I took a deep breath. "Freedom, respect as a

She looked like she just heard something that made her nervous, it was evident from the beads of sweat on her forehead."Akira," I said, my voice low. "I see you've made your decision."She nodded, her gaze matching mine. "Yes, Kael. I've decided to accept your proposal."I raised an eyebrow, but not surprised, I knew she would eventually come back, but for now, let’s play some games. "Really? I thought you'd be more hesitant."Akira took a deep breath. "I was, at first. But then I realized that this contract might be beneficial to the both of us and I would be stupid to let this slip through my fingers. I want to be your mate and Luna, and I want to help you lead the pack."I leaned back in my chair, tapping my index finger on my cheek. "I like your spirit, Akira. But let me make one thing clear: being my mate and Luna won't be easy. There will be pressure from the council, and there will be challenges

  • The Lycan King’s Breeder   Chapter thirty nine: The carved plan

The fire crackled in the hearth of my study, but its warmth didn’t touch the cold inside me. I stood by the tall window, staring out at the dark stretch of forest that surrounded the palace. The moonlight spilled over the treetops like silver blood, painting everything in a pale glow. I wasn’t interested in its beauty. I was thinking, calculating. Time was ticking, and soon, everything I’d worked for would finally fall into place. Kael was slipping. The pack could see it. His obsession with that breeder—Akira, was making him blind to everything else. Losing control. Turning away from tradition. And now, being so protective of her, like a mad wolf trying to protect his last scrap of pride. It was pathetic. Dangerous, too. A weak alpha meant a vulnerable pack. And vulnerability was the perfect opening. I walked back to my desk and opened the drawer, pulling out the sealed envelope that had arrived just before dusk. The wax stamp was unfamiliar. I’d had it checked; no scent, no c

Akira's POV The next day seemed to come too soon. I barely slept, and when I did, I had strange and fragmented dreams. I woke up tired, with a throbbing headache and a tight chest. The tension wasn't disappearing, it just kept on growing like a storm we could not stop. Kael hadn't said any word all through. We sat across from each other at the table during breakfast, barely touching our food. His mind was elsewhere, and so was mine. Something was happening in the dark, and we were only just starting to see pieces of it. "I don't trust this silence," I said quietly. Kael lifted his head, his eyebrows scrunched. "Neither do I. But we can't rush. We make one wrong step, and Zephyr runs…or worse." I nodded. The memory of Zephyr in the training room last night came back. His calm face. His eyes. How he'd asked, "You trust him?" That wasn't a casual thing to ask. That had been a warning in disguise. Kael pushed his plate aside and stood. "I'm going to the council hall. There's a mee

But I knew better, his sharpness was just external. Deep down, he was carrying too much. After last night's conversation, I didn't sleep well. I kept wondering about Zephyr, how quiet he had been recently, how cautious. Too cautious. Last night's surprise appearance by him after our conversation was no accident. He was observing. Akira’s POVThe weight on the room seemed to press heavily on me as I stood opposite Kael, his intense gaze piercing into me as he tried to read my thoughts. I felt uncomfortable for what I was about to say as I had struggled to confront Kael with it since I started thinking about it but at this point, I seem to be left with no choice. It wasn't just about me surviving anymore, it was about Kael's survival, and the entire pack's."It's about Zephyr."Kael's eyebrow went up, his expression going from bland to interested, but there was something in his eyes—something reserved. "What about him, Akira?" His voice was low, but I could feel under it the underlying frustration, the sense of urgency he usually reserved for problems that threatened the pack.I could feel my stomach form knots. The words were too risky to spit out, and I wasn't sure that I was ready to be burdened with them. But I was. For myself, for Kael, and for the benefit of everyone who had trusted in me."Well, I kind o

Yet, Keiran wouldn't rest until I was killed. I couldn't understand why he hated me so much. What have I done to deserve this?“Maybe it is because you repeatedly promised to stop him from being the alpha of this pack, so he is teaching you a lesson on how to keep your nose on your face and out of other people’s business.” A voice in my head scorned.Or was he doing this to distract the pack from a bigger game he was playing in the shadows? Keiran’s POV. I stood up from the couch, my eyes fixed on the guards as they searched my house. My anxiety only got worse with each passing second. After Kael left, the guards seemed to double their efforts. I knew I had hidden all the things that would be of help to them, but I still could not help the fear that slowly took hold of me. What if they found something that I carelessly left? And why did Kael have to excuse himself for some time? Where did he go? I thought back to the moment Kael entered my quarters, his eyes scanning the room as if he knew what he was searching for. But what did it mean to him? And why did he have to speak with Akira afterward? In private, no less. My mind raced with questions, each one more unsettling than the last. I didn't like being in the dark, not when it came to things that affected me directly. And this... this was something big. Why would Kael side with me and refuse to search Zephyr only for him to give an order that I should

I pushed open the door and stepped inside. Miya’s house was dimly lit, the air filled with the scent of herbs and smoke."Kael, what brings you here?" Miya asked, her eyes gleaming in the dim light. She sat behind a cluttered desk, surrounded by strange objects, carvings and a pot situated in a corner of the room sizzled and hissed."The murder case," I replied, taking a seat across from her.
