Personally I'm enjoying this book and doesn't think it's being 'drag on' . in fact I'm happy that the author is actually including these details to show just how complex and unique these characters are and as someone who loves a good story I appreciate the amazing job the author has been doing

chapters for us to read and enjoy. Because if the author rushes through the book to complete it there will be readers commenting that it is rushed and there's lots of unanswered questions ect. Just be patient and allow the author to do what she does best which is writing the story
