He has been sleeping with her.
I know. I’m his mate.
For now.
I rejected Orion last week, but instead of getting my freedom, all I managed to do was pissing off the arrogant Alpha heir.
He didn’t accept my rejection.
He left our mate bond half severed and slept with her, knowing his betrayal is setting my soul on fire.
Just to teach me a lesson.
“Ready to beg, little wolf?” My dear mate, the man who once swore me his soul, asks me in our mindlink when he rides her harshly, her moaning piercing my ears.
He is asking which I would choose. Cave in? Or death.
What I didn’t see coming, was him losing it upon the news of my death. He shouted with his eyes mad red: “I forbid you to leave me!!!...please, come back...”
Chapter 001 Lesson Learned
Lilith’s POV
“Lilith! He is doing her again! Lilith!” My wolf cried in panic, her paws clawing deep in my mind to contain the pain.
Lycoris’s shout rang at the same moment the familiar burn of betrayal spouted out of the mate bond. The plate slipped from my pain-stiffened hand, hitting the floor with a sharp crack and shattering into a dozen pieces that skittered across the tiles.
“Go hide!” Swaying, I grasped the faucet in front of me for support as I commanded her.
“No! You can’t take it! We will die!” Lycoris whimpered, scared.
“Yes, I can!” I closed my eyes, trying to force my wolf into deep sleep. It was the only way to protect her from our mate burning the mate bond. “We will be fine, Lycoris, trust me.”
What happened last time scared her deeply. I was stuck in a storm up on the mountain, freezing to death because Orion had sex with Hannah. It nearly killed us if it weren’t for the patrol who passed by.
“Your body hasn’t recovered from the frostbite; you can’t bear it alone!” Lycoris resisted in tears.
Who was she calling weak? She was the weaker one, and not just between us. She was a tiny little runt in the pack, not much bigger than a grown fox.
She had only me to protect her now.
“It only makes it harder for me if you keep resisting--” I squeezed my words out of clenched teeth.
Lycoris disappeared with a guilty glance even before I could finish my sentence, trying to make it easier for me. Letting out a light laugh at her safety, I slid down by the wall with my eyes closed, trying to ease my dizzy brain. She was stubborn and weak, but she was also kind and passionate.
She had only me now. And I had only her.
It used to be the four of us. But Orion found himself a new girl, and took away half of my world.
The pain crushed my sanity over and over like cold waves attacking the only iceberg in the middle of the ocean. I gritted my teeth, curling up as small as I could against the corner of the wall, as if that would help with the pain.
It wouldn’t. Nothing would. I felt like I was back in the storm, stiffened by the pain while coldness gulped away my life.
[Lil, you know where to find me,] Orion tried to mindlink, and I refused it.
He knew I wouldn’t put through his mindlink. He initiated it only because the request would show me his side of the view through his eyes, and it’s long enough for me to see his surroundings--
The snow of the mountain foot. The icy waterfall. And HER.
Hannah. She was the beta’s daughter and basically the next Valkyrie, as in, the head of the warrior in the pack. In short, the most popular choice for a mate. Unlike me, an orphan with a runt of a wolf.
Her pleasurable moans were like the hissing of a snake, squeezing into my mind in the split second it took me to refuse the mindlink.
I bet that gave them a good laugh.
I rejected Orion last week, after the “accident” in the snow mountain.
Well, I tried to.
I didn’t know that asking for my freedom when he already had another girl in his arms would be such a horrible crime. But I guess, an Alpha heir has his own pride. He could cheat. He could betray. But HE still gets to decide the fate of our mate bond, not me.
My rejection pissed him off instead.
He didn’t accept my rejection, nor did he refuse. So our bond was not fully severed. So when he marks another, my scar would burn like hell.
Werewolf’s mark is sacred. But now the once symbol of love, became his chain to torment my soul.
He could have just rejected my rejection, but he didn’t. He let it hang there, just so I won’t have the weapon he is using on me right now. It’s not like I would go have random sex just to hurt him.
He thought too much of himself, and too little of me.
The waves of pain slowed down, fading a little.
Guess he was done? At least he is fast! I sneered as if my mean thought could ease the pain.
Holding myself up, I stagger out of the kitchen to the staircase, keeping absolute silence. I haven’t moved out of The Lady’s house. She was Orion’s mother, also the woman who adopted me and loved me like her own daughter. I didn’t want her to know about my fallout with Orion…yet.
It would hurt her heart, and I didn’t know how.
My room was in the attic. And right now it seemed like high in the heavens. Black spots blink in front of my eyes, but I had to get back. If I fainted on the staircase, the Lady would know.
But Orion wouldn’t let me.
[Have you learned your lesson yet, Lil?] Orion reached out again through mindlink. He was lying on the ground because all I could see was the starry night. Hannah’s annoying face was no longer in his sight now. But I could hear her giggle.
Lying on the stairs to gain strength, I refused his mindlink, again.
Orion wasn’t always like this. He was once a young pup who swore his life to me, but now he rides another woman just to make me beg.
I was a rogue. WE, were once, rogues. He had only his mother. I didn’t even have that. The Lady brought up the two of us, living in a shabby old cabin. Life was hard back then, and winter was harder. But those days were sweeter than any.
Then, all of a sudden, he became the Alpha’s son. Then he became best friends with the beta’s daughter and her gang. And then I was here, crawling on the staircase, alone.
I wanted to move, but my body wouldn’t. Everything felt icy cold and my body burning hot. I curled up as much as I could, but my body wouldn’t stop shivering.
[Lil--]
He mindlinked again, and this time I put it through. With all the strength left in me I shouted at him:
“The answer is no! I didn’t bully her and I won’t fucking apologize! You want to be her knight in shining armor and extend justice? Do your worst and keep humping! It’s not like you can last that long anyway!”
He was shocked frozen, and I snapped out of the mindlink before his anger kicked in. Then it did. Waves of pain found their way back to me, excruciating this time. I couldn’t move a muscle as darkness gulpped my mind.
Well, if The Lady finds out... then at least I could finally move out.
Lilith’s POVI almost ran.I didn’t think a guard could check my lie so easily with a Beta, but if he was mind-linking Grant, then he would definitely arrest me-- I didn’t know all the pack laws, but “lying your way into the Alpha House” definitely violated some of them. But I couldn’t. I couldn’t outrun ordinary wolves, let alone a guard with a rank. I was out of options.“Of course,” He said, a wider smile crept onto his face, as he ended the mindlink with the glowing in his eyes faded.“Go ahead, Miss,” The guard bowed in an exaggerated but sarcastic way after he opened the iron door for me, “but I’ll keep the handkerchief though, for...proof?”He was making fun of me. That much I was sure. I didn’t know what Grant told him on the other side, but I wouldn’t imagine Grant lying for me. Even so, he still let me in, only at the price of taking away the handkerchief so I wouldn’t be able to borrow his name again?I’ll take that.“Thanks! I’ll be quick!” I bowed to him genuinely. For wh
Lilith’s POVBeta Grant’s words puffed Hannah up like a blowfish. She stormed away, only to halt and wheel around, her tone stiff with restrained anger, “Orion, aren’t you coming?!”Orion hesitated, lifting his foot.Out of an evil urge, I just wanted to go against her at the moment: “Orion, you promised your time to me, remember?”Orion glared at me, but I didn’t care. All I cared about right now was what it sounded like to Hannah, and from the much heavier steps of her as she stormed away, she heard it exactly how I wanted her to.Beta Grant took off, too, touching the corner of his forehead with two fingers as a goodbye gesture: “Miss.”I wanted to ask him about that “him”. About why he saved me, and on whose order. But I came here for Leo, and I wasn’t sure if I could get Orion to do it again. I had to watch Beta Grant leave, along with the answers to my millions of questions.Orion rolled his eyes at his affectation. Pretty sure I heard an amused laugh from Beta Grant, though it
Lilith’s POVLooking at his smily face, I wasn’t sure if I could trust him.I mean, yes, I was grateful that he saved me from the storm. Lycoris’s nose was never wrong so it had to be him. Also, he just stepped up for me. I ought to trust him.But I had never seen him before. Not the kind like, another pack member that I just never talked to, but like, a soul that I had never seen in this pack, and I had been going to some events with the Lady. I wouldn’t dare say that I have seen everyone in the whole pack, but at least I knew every face of the betas and gammas. So where could such a high rank appear from thin air, to help me no less?“Didn’t know that you are back in the pack, Grant,” Hannah smiled at him, and instantly I felt danger--They knew each other. Moreover, they were familiar with each other! Before I could snap out of the shock, Hannah added, “Shouldn’t you be on the snow mountain, taking care of him?”HIM? I frowned when everyone, the two guards included, tensed up when
Lilith’s POVAs much as I understood that he was no longer the Orion I knew, I couldn’t bear watching this familiar face say such cruel words as if he were merely a stranger to me.“Apologize,” Orion led Hannah to his side with a hand on her waist, his voice stern and stone cold, “...if your attitude is genuine enough, then maybe I will cancle the punishment.”“You can’t do that,” Hannah looked up at Orion, real worry in her eyes, “There are witnesses. If anyone were to report this higher, you will be held responsible!”Orion let Hannah finish quietly, his eyes focused on me.“Do you believe me, or not?” I insisted, looking right back at him.I never needed him to bend the justice for me. I never needed him to bully Hannah for me. I just missed my Orion, the boy who would have trusted me without a condition.Orion closed his eyes with an impatient sigh: “...It doesn’t matter. Just apologize--”“It matters to me!” I shouted.“Why would Hannah frame you if you didn’t do it?!” Orion grow
