Jared chuckled nervously as he tried to crack a joke which didn't quite crack through the atmosphere. It was tense, almost like a coiled spring as everyone was waiting for the worst to happen so that they could be relieved.

I on the other hand didn't care for whatever it was they were trying to do because that was not my focus. I just wanted to see that this man knew his place and respected people whenever he got to meet them not because of what he had.
