SILAS

"You guys are a pain in the ass, you know that," Astra grumbles, arms crossed as she kicks at the damp dirt beneath her boots. Her tone is sharp, coated with irritation, but underneath it, I can tell she’s just tired. We all are.

She’s right, though. We slept in the middle of the damn woods last night—if you can even call what we did sleeping. I watched most of the night, too wired to rest, too afraid something would come out of the dark and take her away from me again.

I don't respond to Astra with words, just a small nod. My hand brushes over Naia's cheek, slow and gentle, like the world might shatter if I touched her too hard. Her skin is soft and warm against my fingers—too warm. She's been running a slight fever since last night. Probably from the trauma. Or the cold. Or the stress. Or all of it. She’s been through too much, and yet she still looks peaceful in her sleep.

Like an angel dropped into hell.

“She won’t have peace for long, will she?” I murmur, more to myself tha

ROBERT“That bitch.”I slam my foot into the side of the sofa—his sofa—the one I should be sitting on, waiting for Silas like this isn’t a goddamn suicide mission. She knew. That I didn’t stand a chance. That fighting someone of pure royal blood was asking to be butchered. And still, she sent me anyway. Smiling. Like it meant nothing.I swear to the gods, if I survive this—I’m going to kill her myself.I pace the room, heart pounding, fists clenched. Every breath feels like glass in my throat. This is supposed to be a distraction, some grand plan to keep eyes off Naia while they pull her away from the coven. If Kaius came with Silas, maybe they left her behind. Maybe they were smart. But if they didn’t…Then we’re screwed.Because the man guarding her now—he’s powerful too. And worse, he’s got numbers. Witches. The whole coven will be at his back.Unlike them, they know how valuable Naia is. They know if she falls in the wrong hands she could be a killing machine.Unless they found o

SILASNaia’s still pressed against me, her breath soft and shaky, like she’s caught somewhere between calm and chaos. I can feel her heartbeat pounding against my chest—loud, frantic, desperate. For a moment, I don’t say or do anything. I just hold her—steady, silent—because maybe that’s all she needs right now.Kai stands close by, watching us with warm eyes. No smirks, no jokes—just quiet support, like he’s here for all of us.“You know you can take care of Robert,” Kai says gently, reaching out to tuck a loose strand of Naia’s hair behind her ear. “Let me be the one to look after Naia right now.”I nod without hesitation. I want the same. I want her safe. Wrapped up. Calm. I’m done fighting with Kai. Whatever’s between us—past stuff, pride—it doesn’t matter anymore. Not when it’s her we’re both fighting for.Naia pulls back just enough to look between us, rubbing her arms like she’s trying to gather herself. “Who’s Robert?” she asks quietly, then smiles softly as she moves into Kai

NAIA"Idiot." I hear Silas mumble to Kaius as he finally pulls me into a hug—tight, almost desperate, like he’s been starved for even this much of me. His grip lingers longer than expected, like he doesn’t want to let go. When he finally does, his hands rest on my waist, grounding me in a way that makes my heart stutter. His eyes fall to my lips, slow and deliberate, his gaze burning like he’s seconds away from crossing every line he’s drawn. Then, just as that tension reaches a breaking point, Kaius smirks from behind.“You won’t do that first,” he taunts, and before either of us can react, he gives Silas a shove—straight into the floor. And then everything erupts. Kai's lips crash onto mine. It’s sudden but not careless—it’s the kind of kiss that speaks of weeks, maybe months of buried hunger. One of his hands clutches my waist while the other drops down to my ass, gripping me like he’s claiming what’s his. The kiss is slow, deep, and intense, like he wants to taste every part of th

KAIUS"Absolutely not, brother."I deadpan, arms crossed, while Silas glares at me like I just insulted his entire bloodline. His jaw ticks, nostrils flared, and holy moly—his face is practically carved out of rage and determination. Hot rage, I’ll admit. Not in a weird way, just… intensely terrifying. His eyes burn with this silent promise: Victory will be ours. And he will personally make sure Robert doesn’t leave the battlefield without new scars.I sigh, rubbing my temples. "Fine. But he’s gonna use tactics, Silas. He always does. So I’m having the witches set up a magic-free zone—level playing field."He gives me a curt nod, satisfied, and turns his gaze back to the road. We’re almost there. I can already feel it—Naia’s presence tugging at my chest like gravity.“Thank you, brother,” Silas mutters, clearing his throat. Then, with a smirk, “Now let’s negotiate who gets to hug Naia first.”His hand is already resting on the door handle.Of course it is. So is mine. Has been since w

KAIUSIt’s been days.Days since I last saw Naia. And yeah, maybe I’ve seen blood spill, men fall, and kingdoms burn—but nothing ever hits me like not having her near. Every second she's not with me feels like a damn blade dragging through my chest. But this? This mission—we had no choice. Not when we’re this close to uncovering the truth behind the Royal Pack massacre.Today, we’re heading to the Witches' Covenant. Finally. After so much damn running around and hitting dead ends, we’ve got a lead—an obvious one. Too obvious, honestly. The kind of lead that makes you want to punch a wall because it was right in front of you the whole time.Panthers.They tried to invade the ruins of the Royal Pack like it was up for grabs. As if the royal bloodline had crumbled. Like me and Silas were dead. Idiots. What they clearly forgot—or didn’t know—is that Silas still owns more than half the damn continent. And I? Well, I’m not dead either. We don’t fall that easily. Our forces are scattered, ye

NAIANAIAAs soon as I opened my eyes, I was swarmed.Astra’s friends — a bunch of sharp-tongued, overly curious witches — practically dove on me with a million questions. Some of them were stupid, like “Did you see the murderer?” or “Was the food poisoned or cursed?” but others actually made sense. They wanted to know what exactly happened in the Royal Pack that night — the attack, the chaos, the fear that still clung to my skin like a second layer.I answered them, even though it hurt. Even though it felt like I was peeling open my wounds one by one and letting them stare inside.Silas and Kai weren’t around. They had left early to head west — apparently following a trail, hunting down information. I was told Kai didn’t even want to go. That he started throwing a fit, claiming he was too tired, that everything hurt, and that he didn’t want to leave me.“He promised not to let you go,” Astra said with a half-smile, mimicking the exact dramatic way Kai apparently said it. Her friends
