MasukDominic’s POV
I tried so hard to resist the pull, but it was almost impossible. I had to find answers.
Who is she? And why does the bond with her feel stronger than anything I’ve ever felt?
I heard a knock on the door, bringing me out of my thoughts.
I knew who it was even before he knocked.
“Come!”
Troy, my informant paused in front of my table.
“Good day, your majesty.” He said with a bow.
“Update?” I demanded, rolling my pen impatiently.
Troy placed the file on my desk with confidence. I stopped rolling the pen and took the file.
“She’s a member of Shadow Pack. The mysterious mate to Alpha Cyrus.” Troy stated as I confirmed his word from the file.
I flipped the page.
“I also found out that she’s a healer wolf and that’s the main reason Alpha Cyrus is keeping her.”
My jaw tightened.
“Ask the guards to ready my car.” I said blankly.
He didn’t ask any questions, just went ahead to carry out my order.
I arrived at Shadow Pack unannounced.
I didn’t come for smiles and pleasantries, not like that was ever a reason to be here in the past. But this time, it had nothing to do with business.
My chest tugged hard, a pull I knew too well. She was here, somewhere.
As I stepped out of my Black Rolls Royce, the pack members froze. Everyone bowed instinctively, whispers cutting through the air. No one expected me.
I could sense their fear, raw and unfiltered. As it should be.
Without even giving a glance to the bowing people, I walked in, already heading for the Alpha’s office.
“The Lycan King is here!” someone whispered as I passed.
An Elder quickly met me at the door. “Welcome to Shadow Pack, Your Majesty,” he said with a bow. “It’s an honor to…”
I walked past him too.
I didn’t come for that either.
We moved swiftly, my guards flanking me. The elder hurried to catch up with us as we made our way down the hallways that led to the Alpha’s office.
I pushed the door open without even bothering knocking.
I frowned in disgust as I laid my eyes on him and the lady on his desk. The air in here felt polluted. A mix of sweaty bodies and that musky smell of forbidden pleasure.
He pulled away from her immediately, buckling up.
Cyrus eyes widened. The lady on the desk jumped down and began covering herself up.
“Your… Majesty?” Cyrus said, trembling. A mixture of embarrassment, fear and Surprise on his face.
The lady hurried out of the room, her head down.
I waved my hands in the air, right in front of my nose, seeking desperately for fresh air.
“I… your majesty. I didn’t know you were coming?” Cyrus stuttered.
“I’m so sorry you had to see that, your majesty.” He said, embarrassed.
He took out an air freshener from his drawer, spraying it around to cover up the musky scent in the air.
I sat down right across from him, my eyes never leaving his.
“Sit!” I ordered.
“Coffee? Tea?” he asked, trying to ease the tension in the room. I waved him off.
The room was thick with tension, questions unspoken.
“I’ve come to take what’s mine!” I said, voice low but firm.
Cyrus blinked several times, like he needed his eyes to understand what I was saying. “Your majesty. I’m sorry but what do you mean?”
“Please don’t get me wrong?” He said waving his hands in front of him. “I’m not questioning you. I’m just confused because we agreed that the loan my pack owed you would be paid in bits, annually. It’s in the documents, I can…”
“Who said I was talking about the loan?”
He swallowed hard, “Your majesty, please enlighten me.”
I dropped a photo on his desk.
“Her!”
His eyes widened in shock.
“Bring her to me!”
“Your majesty, she’s…”
“Don’t make me repeat myself.”
Almost immediately, I felt a tightening in my chest.
Then, a whisper, sharp, desperate. Through our bond.
“Stop! Please! I…someone help me!”
She didn’t need to activate the bond for me to know that she was in Danger.
I shot up from the chair I was sitting, hurrying towards where my heart led me.
“King Dominic…” I could hear Cyrus call as he hurried to meet up. “Your majesty please…”
I didn’t care to know what he was saying, I just kept moving.
I rounded the corner and there she was.
Kneeling, bruised, helpless, under the wrath of a merciless woman. Every strike drew my rage hotter, sharper.
“How dare you lay your filthy hands on what’s mine?” I growled, low and dangerous, every muscle coiling, every instinct screaming.
“K—King Dominic?” Luna Vera gasped.
In anger, I unleashed my powers, slamming her hard against the wall, making sure she felt just as much pain as she had inflicted on my mate.
She cried out in pain.
“Mother!” Cyrus roared, rushing forward as she crumpled to the floor.
“A mates duty is to protect. But you, Cyrus. You failed.” I said with a low menacing growl.
He didn’t dare to look me in the face.
I turned to Sage who was still kneeling, fear written all over her. “You!” I said, my voice softened just a little bit.
“You’re coming with me!”
Cyrus's POV My hands tightened around the phone. If I could reach in and tear Dominic's heart out of his chest then I would. It was maddenig - watching him act like she was his. She wasn't! She was mine! Only mine. This was all I needed to know that I had to act faster. If I kept being patient, he would win her over. I hadn't ignored the slight tilt of her lips as she smiled when he said it. It wasn't easily noticeable but I noticed it. After all, I had known her for years. She was my mate. Nothing of that second chance bullshit that Dominic had spewed. I would make sure she was mine again, even if I had to destroy his kingdom to do so. Only then would he know not to play games with me. There could be no more delay, I turned to Leon, “Make sure our men keep their eyes here and make him break. Let's head back to the kingdom before our time expires. We don't have a complete map yet” Leon nodded and began to do as I asked while I walked back to the car. My hands itched to do somethi
Dominic's POV A part of me had known that calling Gloria for a private meeting wouldn't be ideal but it didn't matter. I had a few things on my mind and her presence wasn't helping matters. I needed to get her out of my kingdom. Cyrus was still holed up where he had kept himself. My men had been watching to make sure he didn't make any moves but nothing had come back to me. He was being careful - too careful. It was suspicious. I picked my files, “Keep eyes on him no matter what. I don't care if nothing ever happens but he can't catch us unprepared" I told Keisha.“Yes Alpha" he said, going off to another side of the palace while I headed to the room where I had asked Gloria to wait for me. It wasn't supposed to be hidden but I didn't want anyone seeing both of us together, especially my family. When I got to the quarters, I opened the door and walked in, making sure the door was locked behind me. She was seated at the table with a few papers open in front of her. When she heard t
Dominic's POV I could clearly see she was nervous, her eyes darting around the restaurant. It hadn't gone past my notice, the people who had been staring at us. Of course the news would spread throughout the kingdom in very little time. We were alone again, her eyes on me, watching carefully. I wanted to ask her to talk to me but didn't say anything. Instead, I cleared my throat, and spoke, “Tell me something about you, something I may not know" She raised a brow at the question, whether it was wonder or something else, I didn't know for sure. "Well, I would have preferred to ask you that question. You're the one with so much more that I don't know” she gestured around. She knew she was right but I didn't answer her immediately. Instead I smiled, "I invited you here to talk to you, get to know you. There's not much to me anyway. It would be too boring”She shook her head stubbornly, "I'm sure there's so much I don't know. You've ruled a whole kingdom for years. There's definitely
Sage's POV Now I had no doubt that he thought I was some sort of fool after all. That his words would just trump hers when he hadn't told me even half of the truth. At that moment I wanted to tell him of the war he supposedly fought for her but decided not to. The indecision was clear in his face. He didn't know for sure what to do next. If he was going to give a few more stories or the truth. He cleared his truth as he chose, “Anyway she'll be gone soon and out of the way. You won't have to listen to any of her stories" I nodded, there was nothing else to say. He had chosen to keep me in the dark and something told me he wouldn't change that. At that moment, the decision was clear. This couldn't work out - wouldn't work out. Not with the way we held secrets from each other. Not with his kingdom wanting another woman as his queen. He was better than Cyrus but it was either trouble or trouble. I would need to rescue my mother from Cyrus first. He turned around and continued to wal
Dominic's POV I was in the middle of sorting a document out when a knock came on the door. I sighed, hoping it wasn't her, “Come in" I said, watching the door for who would come in. Surprisingly, Keisha came in. He looked like he had raced to get here, sweating and panting when he walked in. He closed the door behind him. “I'm sorry My king, I tried to reach you through the link but you weren't available" I shook my head as I came back to the present. I had been lost in my thoughts and unknowingly scrambled that. “It's fine, did anything happen?" I asked him. He nodded, “Yes my king. The men we asked to watch Cyrus said he just left the territory. He didn't go with his men so it wasn't a permanent exit. They just saw him leave with his beta in a hurry" he informed me. I sat up straight at that, raising a brow at the news. “That is different then. Did they follow him to wherever he went?" I asked him. Something told me that this place was important, maybe he was hiding something t
Cyrus's POV My hands held her throat tightly, squeezing the air from it as strongly as I could. “How dare you" I muttered, anger pulsed through me like it was my blood. I could almost taste it whenever I swallowed. Her eyes were wide with fear as she stared back at me. She opened her mouth to beg but all that came out were fast breaths as she tried to talk. “Pl…" she began but couldn't try anymore, not with my hands crushing her windpipe. “Alpha, she's going to die" Lyon told me a fact I already knew. He shut up when he saw the look I gave him, moving back in fear. I looked back at her, enjoying the feeling as I slowly snuffed the life out of her. Just before she was gone past the place I couldn't control, I let her go. She fell to the ground, gasping as she tried her hardest to breathe. Her hands clawed at her throat, breath fast and steady as she tried her hardest to catch herself. I looked down at the pathetic sight with some pleasure. Before she could move or do anything, I
