Se connecterSage's POV The day after training had been boring. I wanted to do something but had no idea what it would be. For a moment I considered joining Bella but I didn't want to see Madam Elsie. I hadn't seen her in days and I liked it. Instead I walked out into the garden. There was the part of it where the servants loitered when on their break and that was where I went to. Maybe I would find Sage but if I didn't, then I would simply relax until it was time for lunch. As I walked there, my mind went back to last night's dinner. It was strange. And every day here had been strange but this had been even worse. It felt like a tension I couldn't exactly pin point. This time it hadn't even been Lily. But I had noticed it. Despite how much he tried to make it seem that he wasn't looking, I had seen Dominic staring at her. Gloria, they called her. She was beautiful, very and she knew it as well. The way she looked into your eyes like she was reading your soul. I had seen the way his eyes ling
Dominic's POV She was beautiful. I hated to think about it, it felt like betrayal but I couldn't stop myself. It was there and if I denied it too much, I would go mad. The way she delicately took her seat almost opposite me - an action I knew was on purpose. It was almost impossible to look away but I did so as quickly as I could. If anyone at the table noticed my gaze, they would make sure Sage knew and I couldn't let that happen. My eyes went back to Sage instead who looked just as breathtaking. She had been looking at me but quickly looked away. It was strange but I decided not to worry about it. I turned my attention to the servants, giving them an indication to serve the food. I wanted to eat and be out of here as soon as I could. “Gloria, it's been a while since we've seen you" Gabrielle said while food was dished out. She looked like she was simply talking but I knew underneath it was more. Gloria smiled, her pleasant full smile, “Well, I've had no reason to come here. And
Sage's POV Although the meeting had remained in the back of my mind, I had managed to wake up early. Despite the lingering thoughts of her. She had stayed there, tingling as if to signal me to something but there wasn't anything. The way her eyes had watched and followed me. It felt like she knew something that I didn't. I hadn't seen Dominic at night to ask him but whenever I did I would make sure I did. He had promised not to keep me in the dark and in this situation he wouldn't do that. Time passed, I was about to leave for my training when there was a knock on my door. I wondered if it would be Keisha again for another meeting. This time I would be more confident, I wouldn't shrink like I had but it wasn't him. Surprisingly, on the other side of the door stood Dominic. I raised a brow, “It's your room" I told him. He shrugged, “I didn't want to come in. Today's practice is going to be different and it's not going to be with Aiden" there was a twinkle in his eyes as if he was
Dominic's POV I could feel the nervousness emanating from her. It was so much that I knew the others could feel it as well. Beside me, her pulse raced inside her. It would have been amusing but it wasn't - not with these men watching her like she was prey. I hated the way their eyes felt like they monitored her. They were staring at her like she was weak and unworthy to be in front of them. There was no way on earth I would tolerate it. For a brief moment, my eyes found hers but I quickly looked away. I wouldn't be lost in her games right now - not here. I cleared my throat, getting their attention away from her for a moment, “Ladies and gentlemen, the great council, this is Sage, my mate, Luna of this pack and Queen of this kingdom” although those titles weren't official, they damn near were. They had several reactions to my announcement, some didn't appreciate it while others didn't pay any heed to it. But her face, I saw it - the flash of anger and jealousy. She wanted it to be
Sage's POV The day felt sort of different, I wasn't sure why. Everything was the same. I prepared for training like I usually did, and ate a light breakfast. Aiden had encouraged me to start eating something before practice since it had gotten heavier. Somehow, my skills had gotten better and so much faster than normal. It was something I was happy about but just as surprised as Aiden when it manifested itself. It always felt like something fought alongside me. This time, I didn't wait for a knock on the door to get up and start heading towards the training room. Aiden no longer called me, it was now my duty to get there without being late.As I walked the halls down there, the difference was even more stark. It was in the way the maids huddled among themselves whispering. I had no idea if it was because of Cyrus, maybe he had done something. “There you are" Aiden's deep voice shoved me back into the present and away from the whispers. He didn't look as happy as he usually did in
Dominic's POV Keisha stood in front of me with a smirk on his face. “I'm not exactly sure what caused the fight but it did break out and two of his soldiers have been seriously injured" I knew exactly what that meant even if he didn't say it. “How serious?" I asked. He answered immediately, “One is nearly dead while the other is in a coma but don't worry alpha, it seems they'll survive and as soon as their eyes are open, our men will tell me and I'll get you in" he told me. I was happy to hear that, “You're acting just as quickly as I want to. How's the search for my uncle?" Cyrus wasn't my only problem or maybe he was - I wouldn't know for sure until I found Uncle Philip. The look on his face told me that he didn't exactly know, “I'm sorry Alpha, there hasn't been any recent news. The search continues and somehow, whoever took him will be found" he said, unable to meet my eyes. I had no words left for him. "Do I have any matters to rule today?” I asked him. He nodded, "Yes sir
