I hold the little girl to my chest and rock her back and forth. Ward and I have been trying to have a baby for the past three years. We knew that it was a long shot considering what the witches had done to me. Ward had assured me that he didn’t care if we could have children or not. But I can always see the longing in his eyes when we pass by another couple with a child.

“You know that we have to tell Faris,” Ward says and my heart drops.

“Can’t we just keep her to ourselves for a while?” I say as I push my bottom lip out in a pout.

Willow has her arms wrapped tightly around my neck. “Who is Faris?” She whispers tentatively beside my ear.

I glower at Ward before I look back at Willow. “Faris is my brother,” I tell her and her little arms relax around my neck a little bit.

“This isn’t a secret that we can keep from Faris,” Ward run his fingers through his dark hair. “We don’t know where she can from. What if someone comes looking for her?”
