Daisy

The doors opened slowly, and the sound alone was enough to make my stomach twist. Heavy wood dragged against polished floors, the echo stretching far too long, far too loud, like it was announcing something final.

Like it was announcing me.

Two guards stepped forward, one on each side, their presence close enough to remind me this wasn’t a choice. It never had been.

“Walk,” one of them said quietly and I did. The moment my foot crossed the threshold, the air hit me.

Cold, not in temper

Caspian I knew something had changed the second Daisy stepped back inside.I felt it before I saw her.The bond had been restless all evening, sharp and unsettled beneath my ribs while I worked through reports I hadn’t actually read once. Every few minutes my focus drifted toward the garden outside, toward the quiet pulse tethering me to her. Then suddenly, I felt it go calm. It wasn't complete, nor was it perfect, but it was enough to make my entire body tense in warning. My hand stilled over the paper in front of me.That feeling wasn’t coming from me,it was coming from her.A slow, ugly sensation unfurled low in my chest as I pushed back from the desk and crossed toward the window. The garden paths stretched below in soft evening shadows, pale stone glowing faintly beneath lantern light. And there…Octavian. He emerged from the far side of the garden with that same maddeningly composed expression he always wore, hands in his pockets like he hadn’t just spent the last hour alone

  • The Lycan King's Secret Heirs    Thirty Three

Daisy I didn’t leave my room for two days, not because anyone told me to stay there and not because I was sick.I just couldn’t bring myself to face them.Every single time I thought about stepping outside, the memory slammed back into me so hard my stomach twisted. The study, the wall, the way I’d touched him, except it hadn’t been him.Heat crawled straight into my face for what had to be the hundredth time as I buried it deeper into my pillow with a groan.“God,” I muttered miserably. “I’m actually an idiot.”How had I not noticed? That was the part tormenting me now and not even the embarrassment. The fact that I genuinely hadn’t realized the difference until Caspian walked into the room. Which meant for those few minutes, I had believed it was him.I tried to not think about it, but I couldn't. So if Caspian hadn't walked in at all, I would have let Octavian fuck me?Fuck. My chest tightened uncomfortably as another worse feeling crawled inside my mind. Despite the confusion

  • The Lycan King's Secret Heirs    Thirty Two

Daisy I didn’t wait for permission. The second Octavian was out of that room, I followed him. I made sure my footsteps weren't chaotic or too fast, because that was the only thing keeping me from snapping his neck.Behind me, I could still feel Daisy, still standing there in my study, still breathing too fast, and still wrapped in the aftermath of what he’d just done by accident or design.I didn’t turn back. If I did, I might not leave, not until we'd gotten to the bottom of why she was wearing a fucking thong and sheer lacy bras to my study. My mind picked the worst times to pull as fast one on me. Even though I was charging behind Octavian, I saw Daisy on her knees at the back of my eyes, her mouth wrapped around my fucking cock and sucking on it. Fuck. She felt so warm and good it took everything in me to pull myself back to the present. The corridor outside was long and silent, lit in that soft golden way that made everything look calmer than it actually was. Octavian o

  • The Lycan King's Secret Heirs    Thirty One

Octavian The second the door opened, everything stopped.Daisy froze against the wall beneath my hands, the heat of her body still pressed dangerously close to mine while the scent of lace, skin, and desire thickened the air between us.And standing in the doorway was Caspian. For one long, catastrophic second, nobody moved, then the room went dead silent.I watched the exact moment realization hit Daisy. Her entire body stiffened abruptly, her eyes widening as she looked between us, horror flooding her expression so quickly it almost would’ve been amusing under different circumstances.Almost.The bond pulsed low in my chest anyway, not violently, not consuming the way it became with Caspian, but enough.Enough that I could still feel the warmth of her hands against my chest, enough that part of me still remembered the way she’d looked at me moments ago, flushed and breathless while asking how much longer I planned to fight her.Thinking I was him, that was the dangerous part. Bec

Daisy I felt weird waking up. It wasn't painful or disorienting exactly, just wrong in a way I couldn’t immediately explain.I stared at the ceiling for a long moment, blinking slowly as soft morning light spilled across the room in pale streaks. My body felt unusually relaxed, and heavy beneath the blankets in a way that almost resembled actual rest, which made no sense.I hadn’t slept properly in days.My brows pulled together faintly as I shifted against the sheets, and that was when I noticed it.The scent. My breath caught slightly when I realized who it belonged to.Caspian.It lingered everywhere, deep and warm and unmistakably him, soaked so thoroughly into the sheets around me that for one irrational second, I thought he was still here, but the bed beside me was empty.I pushed myself up slowly, my heartbeat quickening as my gaze dropped to the rumpled mattress. The sheets were tangled badly enough to suggest two people had slept here, not one.“What the hell…” Confusion

  • The Lycan King's Secret Heirs    Twenty Nine

Twenty NineCaspian I should not have gone near her, but I did, and now that I had, it was a miracle how I'd been able to pull myself from that situation. The thought repeated in my head like a curse the entire way out of the training room, but it didn’t matter because my body still remembered everything anyway. The heat of her, the look in her eyes, and the way her breath had caught when I pinned her against the wall.Fuck.I dragged a hand through my damp hair and kept walking, my jaw locked so tightly it hurt. The palace halls blurred around me, gold light stretching across polished floors I barely noticed anymore. All I could see was Daisy. Daisy looking up at me with flushed cheeks and parted lips, Daisy stepping closer when any sane person would’ve backed away and Daisy wanting me right back. That was the problem.I almost laughed at myself. A couple of days back, this would have been a dream come true, but now, it was as good as a nightmare. Not the bond, not the healer’s w
