Chapter 6

Prescott’s pov

I stepped out of the room, after instructing Randale’s Princess to head to my room, I didn't know why I said that, but I wasn't thinking straight then.

“Hey, summon the Elders to the courtroom,” I instructed Wharton, the Royal Beta through the mind link and I closed the link immediately I said that.

I was going to do what they want and not the way they want it, if the elders disagree with me this time, then I would have no choice but to give them early retirement and rule the nation on my own.

For the past few years, I have had enough of them, lecturing me on how to rule the nation because I was not a family man.

“Give me a goddamn fucking break!” Wharton's hoarse voice howled through my mind and I looked around but couldn't find him anywhere.

“Thought I closed the link?” I groaned, walking outside of the office building to where the courtroom was located in the inner part of the Royal walls.

“Do I need your goddamn approval before I mind link with you?” I couldn't see him, but I knew Wharton literally rolled his eyes after saying that.

“What about the elders?” I ignored his silly argument and proceeded with my question.

“They were already at the courtroom, guess they need to see you as much as you want to see them.” He chuckled and I shook my head.

“Where the hell are you?” I asked, entering the Royal building and taking the hallway that leads to the courtroom.

“Working on the elders' request,” he mumbled and I shook my head. This was one of the reasons why I need to take full charge of everything. I can't let the elders keep doing as they please.

“What was the request all about?” I paused and relaxed my back against the wall.

“Um, a bunch of rogues was spotted at the nearby pack’s wall. I'm taking a few men to catch those brats. And my guts tell me it has something to do with Eruba.” Wharton groaned out the last word making me frozen on the spot.

“Did you just say, Eruba?” I asked, my fist tightened and my blood boiled in anger.

“I’m not sure, but this is likely his doing. It's Eruba’s style. Gotta go!” Wharton cut the mind link and I took in a deep breath before proceeding to the courtroom.

“The Lycan King is here!” the door opened and I walked in to find the elders on their feet, they bowed their heads slightly and I proceeded to my seat with my face blank of any emotions.

“Sit!” I ordered the four elders who claimed to be the backbone of the clan, they sat down quietly, I carefully read the expressions on their faces but it was so hard to tell what they were thinking.

“Do you by any chance have anything to say to me?” I picked up a scroll and I absent minded read what was written in it.

Elder Bighana, the oldest man in the whole nation stood up to his feet, he cleared his throat and bowed his head in respect.

“As you know, my little King…”

“There’s nothing little about my title! You have to address me in the right manner.” I tossed the scroll to one side and folded my arms.

Even though Elder Bighana was older than my late father, I still found it haughty to have him address me as the little Prescott they all watched growing up in their watch.

“Sorry, Lycan king!” Elder Bighana smiled and bowed again.

“Speak!” I ordered him, the remaining three elders moved uncomfortably on their seats and I love the look on their faces, terror!

“As you know, elders in a clan have to guide and rectify the king to lead the nation in the right way.” Elder Bighana said the rest nodded their heads and I sighed, I already knew what he was going to say next, I have heard that a lot and I was tired of them lecturing me on what and what not to do.

“You should be working in the main office but because you are yet to have a family, we can not have a man with no responsibility to take full control of the nation,” he added and I drummed my fingers on the table.

“Guess I've been doing a bad job all these years, for you to say that.” I scoffed and picked up another scroll.

“I dare not say that to you, Lycan King!” elder Bighana cleared his throat, bowed and took his seat.

“Good!” I smirked at the content of the scroll but decided not to make a fuss about it.

“Did you hear that I have found a bride?” I rested in the royal seat, watching the elders mumble among themselves.

“We never heard such a news. When did you get a bride and when is the coronation?” they replied, I scoffed and nodded my head in agreement.

How would they know? Nobody in the Royal Walls dares mention anything going on in the Royal Walls to anyone.

“Tomorrow! I shall crown my bride tomorrow and I'm going to give you a Queen!” My voice was cool, calm and collected.

I watched the elders' faces lit up in a delightful smile. Elder Mingan, the youngest among the elders has the most ecstatic smile and I smirked at what I was about to say next.

“She’s a werewolf and I would love you to assign someone to teach her the basis rules of the Lycan.” their faces fell, I was expecting the dreadful look they were giving me and it gladden me.

“You shall not do that, my king! How can you bring in a werewolf to rule over us? How?” elder Canyon flared up, but a cold glare from him shut him up.

“You asked me to give the nation a Queen. You never tell me which species it should be.” I stood up from the seat and they all sprang up their seats.

“She’s going to be your Queen, and she's now your responsibility to teach her the basic rules.” I walked past them and they hastily bowed to me in respect.

I was almost at the door when I remembered the last and the most important thing I had to say to them, I spun on my heels and face them.

“After the coronation, I’d love to take full charge of the nation. No more giving out orders without confiding in me.” I turned around, leaving them in the courtroom with their hard gaze boring a hole into the back of my head.
