Ray of light

YRENE'S POV

I swallowed as my eyes flitted back and forth, between the door, Reece and Kaden. I moistened my dry lips and held up my hands, trying to find a way to escape them or have them stay somewhere hidden.

Of course, that was too much to hope for but I still tried.

"How about I do whatever punishment you want me to do at home? I'll carry your bags, do you assignments, clean your rooms and even massage your toes and fingers. I'm… I'm very good at it…" I started, but Reece cut me short with his hand in the air.

"Massage? I mean… wouldn't our toes be too small in her hands?" He asked, turning to Kaden who laughed.

"We'd search for them in her palms." He replied, looking at his own palms.

"I mean, how can you massage something that's too small? Your hands are too big to massage anything smaller than it so cut the crap and tell us why you wouldn't want a punishment here and now." Reece cornered me with his question and cold saliva traveled down my throat as the footsteps were right at the door.

My eyes stayed glued to it that I didn't even know when Reece made the move to step up towards me. However, I noticed the movement in time and moved back, immediately hitting the sink with my back.

"Ah…" I let out softly as I looked behind me.

"What…" Reece was saying when the door opened and Ethan came in. Relief washed over me like a cold, refreshing shower. I didn't care what they did as long as Fran didn't come in, and also as long as no other girl came in.

"Class started minutes ago." Ethan informed them, staring at the expensive leather watch on his smooth wrist.

"Yeah, we were just paying sweet Yrene a visit. Don't get too holy again, Ethan. She might think you've got a soft spot for her." Kaden said, clapping Ethan gently on the back with a smile.

"Oh my! That's cringing!" Reece exclaimed, hugging himself as he had an expression of mockery on his face.

"There are certain places you should visit a girl. We're not exactly trying to seem like perverts, are we? We have an image to protect." Ethan droned on, leaning against the door.

"Oh come on. Don't act like you don't know girls would do anything to have us pay them a visit in the ladies'" Kaden retorted, pushing Reece's shoulders so they'd leave the ladies'.

"He's such a bad actor. His face says it all. He knows he's saying junk. Just take a look at him. He knows we're right and he hates to be wrong. Watch those eyes narrow, Kaden." Reece pointed out, dragging Kaden to stand next to him so he could drape his arm round his sboulders.

"Of course, I see them clearly. Come on, Ethan. Let's go to class." Kaden replied, turning towards the door.

Ethan's steel gray eyes met mine for a moment and they lingered there for a moment before he turned his back, and left the restroom. It was then I finally had the nerve to breathe.

Once more, it was all thanks to Ethan. Just like yesterday, raging thoughts of his agenda piped up and I found myself thinking along the lines of him having a possible crush on me, amd even though I tried to brush it away. It didn't leave.

"Why did you take so long?" Francesca asked me when I finally met her at the end of the hallway. "I almost left." She snapped when she saw I was staring at her with a stupid smile.

"Oh!" I replied, jerking back to my senses. "I'm so sorry. I had to you know… powder my nose and it was so urgent I couldn't even inform you about it." I lied, while wiping my sweaty hands on my skirt.

"What did you eat? You're always eating a lot. I actually can never imagine having to go at school. It'd be so embarrassing." She said as we walked to class.

"Why would it be embarrassing? Nobody knows." I remarked with a light chuckle, and she suddenly shuddered like she caught a cold.

"I can't have my poop smell get out while girls are giggling in the restroom." She shot, and I burst into laughter.

"You're crazy." I told her, smiling.

After Arts class, it was the break hour. I couldn't leave the class because Mr Xanders had told me he wouldn't let me leave if I couldn't finish the little quiz he had given us earlier.

Fran had to leave and even as I sent her away, I wished she'd stay with me. It was the damn break hour, and I was famished.

I looked up into Mr. Xanders' brown eyes which were firmly fixed on me, and he raised a brow. I chuckled nervously and swallowed back the words I had wanted to say. I had wanted to beg him to let me do it after school instead of during the break hour.

As I watched the clock tick slowly and wickedly, I finally decided to throw caution to the wind. I gave him answers which I felt were answers, although I was sure they were totally not the right answers.

I shifted back my chair, stared at the sheet of paper one last time before marching up to him and giving him the sheet.

"Have a nice day, sir." I told him, and left as fast as I could so there wouldn't be a case of him calling me back.

As I stepped out of the main school building, I was forced to stop because Ethan was seated under the tree. He was clearly the epitome of grace as one leg crossed the other gently. There was a book laying on his lap and his head was tipped backwards on the tree as his eyes remained close.

I knew he wasn't sleeping. He was very conscious of the happenings around him, and I decided to walk up to him, after all, he had saved me from his brothers earlier in the toilet.

But as I took my first step, my eye caught Kaden's who was staring at me fixedly. He winked at me and I took a step back. It was only then that I saw Reece talking to Francesca.
