ELARA

“Who’s there?” I whispered into the darkness, my voice trembling.

The door creaked open.

Lucius stumbled in, his eyes were bloodshot and the smell of alcohol hit me like a slap. His steps were heavy and unsteady, and the way he looked at me made my stomach twist.

“You think you can hide from me?” he slurred, dragging the door shut behind him.

“Lucius, don’t,” I said, backing away. “You’re drunk.”

“You’re mine, Elara. You belong to me.” His voice was low and angry. He took a step closer, then another. “I want to have you and break all over again."

He reached for me. I slapped his hand away, but he grabbed my arm and yanked me forward. I cried out, and tried to get his hands off of me but I couldn't. He pushed me down onto the bed, trying to climb on top of me.

“Stop! Let me go!” I screamed, kicking and thrashing.

He raised his hand to hit me again, but I didn’t let him. I grabbed the nearest thing a metal hairbrush and slammed it into the side of his head. He fell back, groaning in pain.

I ran.

Out of the room. Down the stairs. Into the cold night.

I didn’t stop. My feet pounded the ground, twigs snapping beneath me. My breath came in sharp, panicked gasps. I didn’t know where I was going—I just wanted to disappear.

But the forest wasn’t safe.

I heard them before I saw them. Low growls. Heavy breathing. The smell of blood and dirt.

Rogues.

Three of them stepped out of the trees. Grinning like they've seen their prey. One licked his lips.

“Looks like we caught a little rabbit,” one of them said with his voice filled with filth.

I felt the need to puke.

“Pretty little thing,” another sneered. “We’ll have some fun with her.”

My blood ran cold. I turned to run, but they blocked me. One grabbed me by the hair and yanked me back.

“Don’t touch me!” I screamed, clawing at him.

He laughed and pinned me against a tree, forcing himself close. I screamed again.

Something huge and fast crashed into the rogue holding me, throwing him to the ground with a loud crack. The others turned, but they didn’t last. The man who attacked them moved like a storm—quiet, deadly, and brutal. One rogue’s neck snapped. The other fled into the woods, crying out.

I fell to my knees, shaking.

He turned to me slowly.

The moon hit his face, and I couldn’t look away. He was tall, with black hair falling over his forehead, strong jaw, and cold silver eyes that looked like they felt nothing. Not pity. Not warmth.

Just… stillness.

He didn’t speak.

I forced myself to breathe. “T-Thank you… thank you for saving me.”

He gave a small nod, nothing more.

I could feel time passing by and the silence was killing me slowly.

“I’m Elara,” I said, trying to fill the silence. “What’s your name?”

“…Alaric,” he said, with his voice low and flat.

That was it. No questions. No comfort. Not that I was expecting any, I sure was.

He looked at me like I was a leaf on the ground, something he just happened to notice.

“Why are you so cold?” I asked, hugging myself. “You saved me, but you don’t even care, do you?”

He looked down at me. “You’re safe now. That’s enough.”

I stared at him. Something about the way he spoke… the way he stood… made my chest tighten. I was tired. I was angry. And gods help me, I was drawn to him.

He turned away, about to leave.

But I moved and touched him. He stopped and turned to look at him.

I grabbed his shirt and pressed my lips to his. I didn’t expect him to kiss me back. But he did.

His hands grabbed my waist, pulling me close. His mouth was hot and rough. My breath caught. My body reacted before my mind could stop it.

Clothes came off. The forest disappeared. There was only us.

And in the middle of it my heart skipped.

A strong mint and strawberry scent hit me.

"Mate." I muttered in my head.

But I didn’t say it.

I didn’t want him to reject me too. He's sure so strong not to admit it or maybe he hasn't felt it yet.

I grabbed his head and deepened the kiss, he invited me in with his tongue and I couldn't help but wiggle my waist around his cock.

He slowly sat down on the grass while I straddled him. The kiss became the intense and I couldn't help but started grinding my hips, slowly then faster.

Alaric slipped his hands under me and took my panties off.

In a few minutes, our clothes were off and only our groans filled the forest.

****

The next morning, I woke up on soft grass, and noticed a fabric covering me.

Probably his.

I stood up but didn't see anyone. He was gone.

I looked around, panicked but no sign of him.

I sat up and reached for the shirt he left. I brought it to my nose.

The scent hit me.

It wasn’t just any shirt.

Only Lycans wore clothes like this. The seal.

Yes the seal, he's a Lycan king.

My heart pounded.

Alaric was a Lycan.

And he was my second chance mate.

With no hope left, I went back to the pack. Bruised and sore.

Lucius didn’t say a word, but the look in his eyes promised punishment.

Weeks passed.

I felt sick every morning. Tired. Dizzy. My stomach hurt, and my chest felt heavy.

Something was wrong.

I went to Mara, the seer. The only person I trusted in Lucius pack.

She took my hands, eyes going wide as she looked at me.

“Elara… you need to shift,” she said.

“I can’t. I’ve never—” My voice broke.

“Try,” she interrupted in a whisper.

We both went to an open filled where no one would see us but something in me asked her to leave and she did.

I tried to wolf out but I couldn't, surprisingly, I could feel and hear my wolf but I couldn't transform.

I went back to Mara's house. She touched my face, eyes full of shock and something else… fear.

“Elara,” she said, her voice barely a whisper. “You’re pregnant. Do you know what this means?”

I stared at her in shock.

Pregnant how? How?

Tears filled my eyes.

“I don’t,” I whispered.

Elara’s PovI was done putting everything in place. Now what left was to put on those dirty shoelaces that I haven't washed for days on. “Well, it doesn't really matter,” I said almost loudly. All I wanted to do was meet Davila, “Only she will be able to help me provide answers,” I thought. Upon the thought, without hesitation, I left for Davila. It was so cold outside, aligning with the thoughts I had inside.“Whaf if he isn't guilty, what if he truly loved me and wanted the best for me?” I asked in worry. I had to stay away from him for five years just because I always thought he was a murderer. “You speak like you're sure of what you're saying, in awhile, you haven't thought if he might actually be guilty,” my wolf self interrupted.“Yeah. You're right, but then my aunt was right, my babies need a father,” I replied.I almost slipped, the weight of this burden had overwhelmed me. “Well, Davila’s gonna help you get that answer today” I continued after re-arranging my shoes.I walke

Alaric's pov. I didn't know what to do anymore. The tears had run by and my search for her hadn't stopped, but yet, she still wasn't found. I knew she wasn't dead, but where she was hidden was there I couldn't find.“You're thinking about her again right?" Maya asked, inching closer to me. Her hands rested on my shoulders, and I got worried about what exactly was going on. " Yes I am. I have to. I don't know how she's doing, and I'm worried about my child. Do you know how long I've waited for the moongoodess to show me mercy? For me to meet her and my kids just once?” "Do you know if she wants to see you?” She paused and then continued for a little while." That's something you should definitely consider. I mean, she had been gone for a while now, but you don't see her trying to reach out. Maybe you should move on, hmm?” My heart shattered the moment I heard that, and I found myself being a bit more unhappy than I was earlier. However, as soon as she understood what I was talking

Elara's povI was so tired, stressed and worried. However, she asked me to come again. Maybe it was because I asked her to redo the vision.“I can't, I'm sorry. I can't redo the vision, it's going to take a lot from you, but you don't seem to understand that." “Understand what? You have already promised to help me." “And I didn't go back on that, but it's going to be too draining. Can't you see?” "I know but the truth is important.”"And you have found out the truth. We are going to find out more in the other sessions.”"He could have sent someone to do it. Obviously he couldn't have done the dirty job himself.” I agreed immediately. Of course he couldn't have done the dirty job himself. It was obvious that there was someone working for him at that time."Fine. When's our next session?” I asked, already determined."The day after tomorrow.” "What?” I exclaimed, staring at her with shock. My face seemed so pale, and I was worried about the way things were going. With this rate, I

Elara's pov“I want to know the truth. I am tired of being here, and trying my best to understand the situation is something else. Yes, I'm still in love with my mate, but then I'm scared that he killed my parents.” Silence remained, and she exhaled. "I know that you are worried about everything, but there's no need to worry, we'll find out the truth." I shook my head. “I want you to find out now. I guess I have not been bold enough to take those steps, but please I really need to know what I need to know.”Silence remained, and I was unable to say a thing. My heart drummed like crazy, and I became confused on what to do. She stared at me in my confused state, placing her hands on my shoulder. Her eyes stared into mine and I noticed the feelings she had for me. It was obvious that she had a lot she wanted to say to me, but at the end of the day, she chose what was best for me.“Well, I guess we have to find out the truth then, but before then, you have to tell me what kind of trut

Elara's povIn a flash, it had already been five years. My kids ran around with carefree minds as I stared at them with a loving smile. However the smile quickly faded in an instant. “You seem to have a lot on your mind. What's the matter?” My aunt who seemed to notice how my smile had faltered made me turn towards her. She had a concern printed on her face, and her hands rested on my shoulders, making me sigh. “Nothing really. I just really need to get over the fact that it has been this long. My kids are five. Today's their birthday, and I can't seem to shake off the fact that I had not seen him in a long time. Do you see it?” She sighed, but then said something I didn't expect you to hear from her. “So what you are trying to say is that you miss him, right?"she asked with raised brows, making me pause. It was so quick I didn't even know how to respond. I blinked twice, trying to shake off the thought, but deep down, it seemed like she had hit me with a truth I couldn't deny. I

Lilith's Pov She seemed shaken, and had turned pale. Her lips trembled in fear, and she tried so hard to swallow the lump that was in her throat.“I'm sorry, you want me to what?" She asked, and I smirked."You heard me. I don't think I want to repeat myself again. Do you think I have the time to do all that. You should count this as a favour. I am willing to pay you any amount of money that you want do you understand that?”She nodded. "Yes, I know what you can offer, but it's not about the money. Thr moongoddess won't be proud of me. My mother thought me this to help woman, and not to–” "Think of it as a help to me. Do you understand? I have been looking for a way to get pregnant, and I couldn't. I might have told the alpha that I was, thinking I was pregnant, but the instant I found out I wasn't, he was already too excited to be told i wasn't pregnant. You have to understand me, please…” My words didn't seem to be getting me anywhere. Besides, the way she frowned at me. Showed s
