Jasper followed my gaze and it rested on the beast I was looking at from far away.

“Those are prideful creatures, shadow stalkers. They are hard to tame and even harder to be allowed to ride”

I looked at him and batted my eyelashes playfully, “But I believe you can tame it”

Jasper raised an eyebrow.

“Trying to goad me so that I enter the enclosure and get gravely injured?”

I stuck out my tongue.

Jasper shook his head and turned his attention to the nightsteeds. “There is a fine line between bravery and foolery. While I do not doubt that I can tame that beast for I was the one to bring it here, I will not take the bait simply to boost my ego and prove it to you”

I shrugged, “Well, at least I tried”

He winked, “Vampires are proud creatures too. Ivan might do something stupid if you hurt his ego enough. That would get you out of a tricky situation, remember that”

“He would not know the difference between bravery and foolery?”
