“Elias!” Isadora yelled from somewhere behind me.

I turned towards the direction of her voice, my heart pattering in my chest when I found her. She was standing several feet away from me, and I immediately started to move towards her.

The moment I took a step though, the ground shook violently, and the floor splitted open between us. Isadora remained where she was, but the ground I was standing on kept moving farther and farther away from her, until a large chasm separated me from my mate.

Isadora remained where she was, but the ground I was standing on kept moving farther and farther away from her, until a large chasm separated me from my mate.“Find your way back to me. I am waiting for you,” she yelled, then looked down at her stomach before looking back up at me. A small, hopeful smile grew on her lips. “We are waiting for you.”My brows furrowed into a frown. We? I wanted to speak, but my lips refused to move. I looked at her stomach instead, and to my surprise, she was pregnant. The realisation hit me in the chest like a truck. I blinked, and right before my eyes, she transformed. Her pregnancy faded away, and now she was holding a

“Isa. Are you okay?” Carlos asked. I could feel his gaze intensely trained on me, but I didn't turn to look at him. Instead, I continued to gently dab at Elias's forehead with a hand towel. “Isadora…” he called again. Erina was out getting food for me, since she said I was too gaunt for her liking. I wish she was here to deflect Carlos's question. But she wasn't, so I turned to face him. “I am. I mean, minus the fact that my mate has been unconscious for about two weeks now and does not seem to be responding to treatment, I think I'm pretty chill.”He sighed and took a step away from the window, closer to me. “That's not what I meant, Isa. We are all worried about Elias. But you look pale. Extremely so. And you've rushed over to the restroom like three times to throw up since we got here. What is going on? Are you not sleeping enough? Do you want a doctor to take a look at you?”His voice remained gentle as always, but for some reason, his words rankled me. I glared at him as I

“...the poison is very deadly. We have not been able to identify it but we would like to assure you that we have toxicology experts, people who specialise in poison, working very hard to identify what type of poison it is.”“...he is completely flaccid. His muscles do not seem to be working. There are no reflexes.”“...brain activity is minimal. We are unable to identify how much damage was done.”“...he can’t breathe on his own. The ventilator is doing all the work.”“...we have to administer medications to prevent his kidneys and liver from shutting down.”“...administer more IV fluids…”“...keep his blood pressure up.”Those statements, and a lot more I was not willing to think about, were what the doctors said, and were still saying, when we rushed Elias to the hospital a few days ago. The poison had almost taken his life, but we managed to get him to the hospital on time. Tears filled my eyes as I stared at him, different tubes running in and out of his body as the doctors tri

I slammed into Terrence, raising my claws to swipe at his side. Even more blood spilled out of him, and the sight surprised me a little. Judging from the amount of blood he had lost, how was it even possible that he had more blood left to lose? The fight had gone on for longer than I expected, and it had turned into a bloodbath. We were both massively injured, and with the poison in my bloodstream, I was just one push away from keeling over and losing unconsciousness. I could feel the cold hands of death hovering above me, and I knew if I was not fast enough, I would be saying hello to untimely death before long. But Terrence… that bastard was still alive. He was weak and tired and the fire in his eyes had dimmed, but he just was not giving up. And I needed him to. I needed him to tell me where the damned scientist was hiding but he was just so fucking stubborn. With a roar, I pulled together every last ounce of strength that I had left in my poisoned ravaged body, and shifted back

A scream was working up my throat. I fought against Erina as she held me tightly, trying to drag me away from where I stood. “Let me go!” I snapped. Erina did not listen to me. Instead her arms tightened around me even further, and she started to carry me away. “Elias is going to skin me alive if anything happens to you. You heard him. My life depends on your survival. We have to get you to safety,” she insisted. I did not want to leave. “No. Let me go. I have to help him.”Carlos stepped before me, barring me from seeing Elias and Terrence. “The fight is going to be bloody. You do not want to see it.”I held his gaze and responded as calmly as I could manage. “I do.” He still looked like he wanted to refuse me, but the fact that he was not dragging me away like Erina was made me hopeful. “Please, Carlos. Please. I need to stay close. I know he does not need any help, but I… I need to stay close. We don't know what might happen. What if he needs my help and I am sequestered far

I had no idea why, or where the feeling was stemming from, but I had a very ominous feeling. It felt as though something bad was about to happen, and my body was trying to warn me about it. Or maybe my body was trying to brace for whatever it was. Whatever the case was, all I knew was that there was this cloud of premonition hanging over my head and it made me so uneasy. I hated how it crawled under my skin and settled there, making a home in my body.I tried not to think about it, but that was impossible. But then I tried to think about it, and I could not make any sense of it. “Could it be because of Terrence? I mean, you are planning this huge bait and ruse to draw him out from wherever he is without telling any of us what it is. Could it be that you are excited and mislabeling the feeling?’ Erina asked. A slight frown settled on my face as I stared at her. “I know what it feels like to be excited, Erina. This is different.”She shrugged. “Then maybe you are overthinking it.”B

I watched Elias’ car pull out from the window in his office. It was ironic how I wanted space from him and I’d ended up in his office. I didn’t even realize where I was going until I stopped in front of the office doors.I sat in his chair, my legs pulled up to my chest as I stared out the window,

I stared at Elias, wondering if I’d heard right, and clearly, I wasn’t the only one either because the maid stared at him, completely unmoving. She opened and closed her mouth a few times, but no words would come out. “Alpha-”“Did I fucking stutter?” he snapped and her mouth fell closed immediatel

CHAPTER 55: ISADORAThe silence was the most terrifying thing. It wasn’t unusual for there to be silence between Elias and I, but the tension in the air and the anticipation only made it scary. It also wasn’t helpful that every few seconds, Carlos would glance over at me as if worried that somethin

“No!” I rushed over to stop him, standing between him and the door. “You can’t do anything.”His nostrils flared. “Isadora, I need you to get out of my way.”“No!” I stood my ground. “You’re not going to make any stupid decisions because of me.”“Stupid?” he scoffed. “The bastard took advantage of
