Nicholas stared at the unconscious girl sleeping in the passenger seat. He injected her with something to make her unconscious.
He hated loose ends which was why he had no idea why he was planning on doing what he was about to do. Even while asleep, she braced herself in such a way that she was ready to fight even though it was pretty obvious she wasn't going to win. Nicholas felt his phone buzz in his trousers. He grabbed his phone from his pockets. It was a text from Adrian Castellano. “What's the update-is it done “Still confirming loose ends” He typed before putting down his phone. He knew he was probably making a mistake. It was foolish to lie or betray the Castellanos, especially Adrian. A part of him was telling him to hand her over to Adrian and not make things complicated but it couldn't help feeling it was a big mistake. He knew Adrian would hurt her, not that he cared; she is practically a stranger to him, and he's been killing the Castellanos for years. But he couldn't shake the fact that she reminded him of someone–a different girl, a different time, a similar situation. He thought he buried those memories but he was reminded about it today. — Alison woke up with a splitting headache. The stench of rotting pine, along with damp wood, overwhelmed her. She rubbed her eyes, trying to adjust to the dimness around her. She quickly came to the harsh realization that she was situated inside a rustic cabin. The structure of the place resembled a log cabin with only a rickety old couch along with an oak table as sole furniture. A window was barely present, with a fleeting bit of moonlight seeping through, making the whole room upload an ominous aura. She recalled the restraints on her arms, and when she attempted to get rid of her panic by moving around, she figured out she was zip-tied from the front. “Stop,” A familiar voice said. She recognized the voice. She looked up and saw the man from earlier. “ Let me go!” She yelled at him, shaking her hands. “What were you doing awake so late in the night?” he asked, ignoring her question. “Painting” “Painting” he scoffed in disbelief. “I'm an artist; I paint,” she said aggressively. Nicholas found himself a bit amused by her display of anger. She was probably the unluckiest person on earth to have entered the Castellanos's bad side. “Let me go” she yelled once more. “ If I hear your voice again, I will chop off your tongue.” His gaze hardened on her, and she kept quiet.Alison felt like crying. She should have just slept. Why did she choose to paint at that time? She should have just ignored the sound and continued with her painting. But no, she chose to follow her curiosity, and now look where her curiosity has led her to.
She was a bit confused as to why he kept her alive; she knew she was supposed to be dead by now. She watched as he made calls, and he told the person on the other line she was dead, which confused her the more. She didn't seem to understand him at all. She just wanted to go home and sleep but she couldn't. Her mind was racing with different thoughts flooding through her head at once. “No phone calls, no texts or internet while you are here. To the world, you're dead, Alison,” he said, waving her phone in his hand. She wondered how he knew her name but she was too scared to ask. “Disobey me, and you’ll die,” he said, and she nodded in fear. He untied her and walked her to a room. “Don't even run; you won't get far,” he said, his face devoid of any emotion before leaving her in the room to think about her situation. A rustling of leaves broke her train of thought, she looked out the window, and she saw a shadow passing. There's no way it could be Nicholas who just left now. Her heart raced when the shadow came closer as if trying to peep through the window. It's been two years since that night. Two years since she saw Nicholas. Alison returned to her old life,, but she never felt the same way. She missed him. She remembered waking up to the news that Adrian was arrested. He mysteriously died in the prison cell two days after he got arrested. She had her suspicions that Nicholas did it. She was hanging on with the little hope she had left that he was alive. He was alive somewhere. She became a bit popular for being taken by a notorious Mafia gang. She lived with her parents for months after coming back. They have been overprotective of her since she came back. They gave her breathing space about a year later. Tristan stopped by from time to time. Both of them surprisingly grew close. He didn't know anything about Nicholas. Her parents grew fond of him, he was one of the reasons they agreed for her to move out back. They refuse to believe he was a former Mafia member. According to her mom, he was so sweet. He comforted her most of the
Nicholas kicked the door open, attracting the armed men. He had already eliminated the ones at the entrance. He had already given the cops this location. He didn't trust the cops; most were friends with Adrian, but it would be a good distraction. He hoped the plan would work. This has to end now.The men begin to send in gunfire. It didn't hit him, though. Tristan's men covered him, shooting at the men. He shot back, not missing any target, a gun in each hand. His eyes scanned the room, searching for one person in particular. Then he saw him. Adrian. He flooded the room with his private guards, protecting him. He stared at the men, sizing them up. All these were going to be easy. The men came at him, but he was faster and more ruthless. One by one, they fell to the ground; he struck them enough for them to be unconscious.“Where is she?” Nicholas roared.Adrian stood near the bar, sipping the last of his drink, dropping the glass on the stand. “You came. Much sooner than I expected ”
Nicholas woke up to see the bed empty. The side where Alison lay down last night was empty. He could feel a little warmth from there. He sat up slowly, scanning the room for her. He felt uneasy when he didn't see her.He stood up, opening the bathroom door, still no sight of her. He turned back to the room when his eyes caught something on the bed, close to her pillow.A folded note. His fingers trembled a little while picking it up. His heart already knew he wouldn’t like the content of the paper."I’m doing this ’cause I love you. Don’t try to find me."He didn't know how long he stared into the paper. The words blurred, his mind refusing to process them. All this didn't make any sense to him.She was here.He just got her back. And now she's gone?He stood suddenly, the note was now balled up, and he held it in his palms. In the house, it was all quiet, and the hall resonated with every single footstep he took.“Tristan!” he called out, sounding rather hoarse and making a mighty ye
Alison sat by the window wearing a borrowed hoodie. She freshened up a while ago. She could tell Nicholas was curious about what happened to her. It was like he didn't want to push her. He wanted her to tell him what happened in her accord. She felt his presence in the room, he stood by the door watching her."You know I went out looking for you when some men I didn't know drugged me. When I woke up, I was in this unknown building. I don't know, apparently, you killed their head and they wanted to use me as bait to get you"" The Ortegas" he groaned in annoyance."I managed to escape luckily-" she made a tiny pause not knowing how he would rest to what she wanted to say next. " I met Adrian"There was a cold silence for a while. Nicholas was trying his best to remain calm even though there was a burning anger in his chest and it worked. She stared at his face but she couldn't read it. Soon he was by her side. "Are you okay, did he do anything to you""I'm okay, Nicholas; he didn't man
Alison didn't turn back and continued running. She didn't remember how long she had been running. She couldn't hear any sounds of footsteps but that still didn't give her any reassurance. Adrian's taste still clung to her mouth and she felt the urgent need to wash off everything that reminded her of that monster. She turned a corner and the sudden beam of headlights blinded her.A car screeched to a stop.“Alison?” A voice she'd never forget said. Nicholas. She froze.“Alison!” he was out of the car in a flashShe stumbled backward as he crushed her with his arms pulling her into a tight hug. Tears she didn’t realize she was holding began to fall freely down her cheeks.“I’m so sorry,, Nic” she whispered, “I should have told you about Adrian”“Shh.” Nicholas placed a finger over her lips. “You don’t have to explain. I'm the one at fault. I'm sorry for leaving; I should have never left you alone,” he said, and she nodded. He was in a complete state of shock and disbelief at who he was
Alison gave up trying to get out of his cold. She was so tired at this point. He was the last person she wanted to see at the moment. He smiled at her, reminding her of how welcoming he was when she first saw him. This time she wasn't fooled."You are never going to remain hidden forever ""Get away from me, you monster""I believe you know I am now" Adrian made a sad face. "I'm not going to hurt you" he began. "Unless you misbehave" he gave a look as if warning her."You know if you want to kill me, just do and get this over, I'm tired of hiding "" Ohh, Darling." he tucked a strand of her hair, and Alison pulled her face back."You were never the target; it was Nicholas; the house wasn't the first time we met Alison. I bought paintings from you two years ago. I was stunned by your resemblance with her, so I watched you and I plotted the whole thing. The incident at your house, the murder you witnessed, wasn't a coincidence; I let it happen. It was the only way for Nicholas to meet y
