Brett's POV

I was with Darryn in his car, heading to his father’s house. I know his family well, considering we have been best friends since kindergarten. We pull up to his dad’s house and get out of the car. He told me about wanting to bring Kaycie to dinner with the family in a week, but he thought he should tell his family about what happened to Kaycie. I told him that I thought it was a good idea to tell them, so they understood if she acted strangely around them.

We walked into his dad’s house. House is an understatement. It was a fucking mansion. We walk into the living room to find his dad, grandparents, and two of his uncles. His father got up and gave us both hugs, as did his grandmother. His family is the mafia, and Darryn is next in line to be the boss. I knew he wanted me to be his second, but since I am not blood, I didn’t think that his family would approve; then his dad told me that I am considered family. I was surprised but so thankful.
